The Islamabad Talks is "not an event but a process." The Islamabad Talks laid the foundation for a diplomatic process that, if trust and will are strengthened, can create a sustainable framework for the interests of all parties. I would like to express my gratitude to the friendly and brotherly county of Pakistan, especially H.E. Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir, for their initiative of goodwill and good office for the talks. With the tireless efforts of all sectors in Pakistan, including the government, army, police and security forces to facilitate and manage the talks, talks were held in a dignified and befitting atmosphere for the guests in a calm, orderly and secure environment with equal logistic opportunities for both sides. The Iranian high ranking negotiating team, with dignity, self-confidence and faith in Allah Almighty and attention to the concerns of the people, pursued dignified talks for the great Iranian nation to ensure and secure the national interests and legitimate rights of the people.

There is no deal. USA and Iran come out after 21 hours with no deal! Having said that we were not expecting this to happen in one go. Complex equations do not have simple solutions. The two I am sure will meet again and soon; as Pakistan has done the important ground work which is acknowledged by both parties. Having said that Israel and UAE will be happy at the outcome they both have been vocal in expressing severe displeasure. They want Iran bombed into oblivion. Having said that UAE does not realise the damage it will do to itself by such a step toward continued war. We in Pakistan hope good sense will prevail and humanity will find a way to see reason and peace can be in place and permanently. I know every Pakistani wants peace and I am sure Pakistan will continue its efforts to diffuse the ongoing tensions

اسلام آباد مذاکرات بے نتیجہ رہے امریکہ اور ایران کے درمیان کوئی سمجھوتہ نہ ہو پایا مذاکرات کے دوران پیش رفت ضرور ہوئی مگر حتمی معاہدہ نہ ہوسکا۔امریکی نائب صدر جے ڈی وینس نے 21 گھنٹے طویل مذاکرات کے بعد اعلان کیا ہے کہ امریکہ اور ایران کے درمیان ابھی تک مکمل معاہدہ طے نہیں پایا، تاہم واشنگٹن نے اپنا “بہترین اور آخری آفر” تہران کے سامنے رکھ دیا ہے۔ نائب صدر جے ڈی وینس کے مطابق اب دنیا کی نظریں ایران کے جواب پر ہیں۔ذرائع کے مطابق سب سے بڑی رکاوٹ وہی بنی جس کا پہلے سے خدشہ تھا، ایران نے اپنا افزودہ یورینیم ذخیرہ حوالے کرنے سے صاف انکار کردیا دلچسپ بات یہ ہے کہ امریکی نائب صدر نے اپنی پریس بریفنگ میں آبنائے ہرمز کے معاملے کا کوئی ذکر نہیں کیا۔اطلاعات ہیں کہ ایرانی وفد نے مزید وقت مانگا لیکن امریکی نائب صدر نے انتظار سے انکار کرتے ہوئے مذاکراتی کمرہ چھوڑ دیا۔اپنی “Best and Final Offer” پریس کانفرنس کے صرف 45 منٹ بعد جے ڈی وینس واشنگٹن واپس روانہ ہوچکے تھے اب سب سے اہم سوال یہ ہے کیا تہران امریکی آخری پیشکش قبول کرے گا یا اسلام آباد مذاکرات غیر معینہ مدت کے لئے ختمُ ہو جائیں گے؟

Here is my take away of Islamabad peace talks. 1.Pakistan successfully hosted the Iran–US talks in Islamabad and handled the situation diplomatically. 2.Both Iran and the United States have publicly acknowledged Pakistan’s constructive role as a facilitator. 3.It was at Pakistan’s request that both countries agreed to a ceasefire and came to Islamabad for dialogue. 4.Delegations from both sides appreciated Pakistan’s sincere efforts to help reach an agreement. 5.There was significant progress in the talks, with consensus achieved on many issues. 6.However, a few key sticking points remain unresolved, preventing a final agreement. 7.Both sides have now returned, but Pakistan continues to receive appreciation from all parties. 8.This outcome is largely a diplomatic win for Pakistan, enhancing its image as a mediator. 9.Given the long and complex history between Iran and the United States, building mutual trust will take time and sustained effort. 10.As far as role of Pakistani media is concerned it largely remained objective in its reporting.
