🇵🇰 IMRAN KHAN’S SON: “WE THOUGHT IT WOULD BE A MONTH—IT’S BEEN TWO YEARS” Kasim: “I really thought it would be a month. A couple of months maximum. But it’s been nearly two years now—and he’s been in solitary confinement the entire time. It’s been pretty brutal.”
Mario Nawfal@MarioNawfal

🚨🇵🇰 EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: IMRAN KHAN’S SONS BREAK THEIR SILENCE Every once in a while, I conduct an interview that could shape the politics of a country. This may be one of them. Imran Khan, who I spoke with just weeks before his arrest, was one of the most popular leaders of our time. Often called the “Trump of Pakistan,” he had an approval rating above 60%. But when he turned against the country’s powerful military establishment, the cost was immediate. He was shot. Then jailed. Then banned — not just from office, but from television, radio, and social media. And yet, even from behind bars, even with his name erased, his party still won a majority in Pakistan’s latest elections. It didn’t matter. Today, he sits in a 7x8 cell designed for death row inmates. No light. No lawyer. No access to doctors. No due process. His sons, Sulaiman and Kasim Khan, have spent their lives out of the spotlight, far from the chaos of Pakistani politics. But for nearly 2 years, they’ve watched their father — wounded, silenced, and locked in solitary confinement — be forgotten by the world. They haven’t seen him since he was shot. Phone calls, when they come, arrive at random — sometimes at 4 a.m. — and last only 20 minutes before the line goes dead. They stayed completely silent through all of it. Not because they didn’t care — but because they were afraid speaking out would make things worse. But now? Now it’s been too long. Now the silence feels like betrayal. Now, they’re speaking — because this might be the only thing left they can do. And they did not hold back. To Pakistanis: do not lose hope. To the international community: do not turn a blind eye. Thank you @elonmusk and @lindayaX for X and your fight for free speech. Disclaimers: This interview was conducted prior to the recent clashes between India and Pakistan. I am not alleging the Pakistani military or Government was behind Imran’s assassination attempt. Also note: Urdu voice over of the interview posted below as a comment. 01:26 — “He’s literally in the dark.” No visits. No lawyers. No calls. No light. 02:16 — “He’s completely alone.” No contact. No doctor. No way to know if he’s okay. 03:19 — “A death cell… for terrorists.” 7x8 feet. Blacked out. Designed to erase the human spirit. 04:09 — “First two days were hell.” He survived 10 days in pitch darkness by forcing himself into a Zen-like state. 05:55 — “The line cuts at 20 minutes.” Half the time: lessons. The rest: he asks about our lives. 06:50 — “We get a 4 a.m. message.” If we miss it, it’s months before we hear from him again. 08:04 — “They’re trying to break him.” No light. No doctors. No calls. But he refuses to fold. 09:16 — “He won’t take the deal.” Not without his people. Not if it means betraying them. 13:22 — “We’ve run out of options.” Legal routes are gone. Silence no longer helps. This is our last card. 15:19 — “They banned his name.” On TV, radio, and online — we became the code for our own father. 17:01 — “We never spoke to Grenell.” But we’re grateful. And we’ll speak to anyone who’ll listen. 18:27 — “It’s 100% political.” False charges. Fake trials. A democracy on mute. 20:51 — “Yes, people have been taken.” Supporters, journalists — vanished. Tortured. Broken. 22:06 — “He told us to stay private.” But now? We have no choice. 24:03 — “We thought it’d be a few weeks.” It’s been nearly two years. 26:26 — “He reads. He teaches. Then he listens.” Each call is a lifeline. 28:05 — “They blurred him out.” Even the 1992 World Cup photos — he was erased. 31:00 — “I’ve grown more in 2 years than 20.” That’s what he tells us. 32:20 — “It’s getting desperate.” New threats. Talk of a death sentence. No end in sight. 32:57 — “We asked him for permission.” He said: Do it. 35:00 — “The last time we saw him, he’d been shot.” Three bullets. Still standing. Still smiling. 36:45 — “We’re told not to come back.” We might be used to break him further. 38:16 — “Respect the vote.” PTI won — even without its symbol, even in silence. 39:38 — “Selling exotic fruit?” That’s what they jailed him for. 40:53 — “Some family members were scared.” But we have to try something. 42:07 — “He’s not done.” Still learning. Still fighting. Still planning. 43:12 — “He’s 70. He was shot. And they deny him a doctor.” This is not justice. This is torture.

Last few days have made me realise how mentally enslaved we’re as a nation All it took were two coherent sentences from Bilawal &Hina khar’s mouth for us to forget the decades of systemic repression these thugs have been enabling for our fellow countrymen. We r far from awakening

Standing behind armed forces against hostile Indian aggression doesn’t mean we’re going to be okay with their blatant political interference but for now that can wait, we shall get back to it when the cloud of war settles

Former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s informal chat with representatives of media and his lawyers - December 3, 2024: I was informed about the full details of the Islamabad Massacre today by my family, how our peaceful protesters were directly shot and dozens of unarmed citizens who spoke up for the constitution and rule of law were martyred while hundreds were injured. Details of 12 martyrs have so far been revealed. This brutality marks one of the darkest chapters in Pakistan’s history. It’s as if Yahya Khan part two has taken over the country. I demand that the Supreme Court form an impartial judicial commission to investigate the massacre of unarmed, peaceful civilians and to give the harshest punishment to those who ordered the massacre and those involved in carrying it out. I am further consulting on this matter and collecting details. We will not leave this matter unaddressed. If anyone thinks that the people will remain silent because of the fear being created, then they are deluded. We will raise our voices against this atrocity on all international forums. I have directed the PTI leadership to file FIRs against those responsible, including Shahbaz Sharif and Mohsin Naqvi. In which country of the world is such direct fire opened on democratic protests? Data about the martyrs and the injured from hospitals in Islamabad and Rawalpindi should be made public at the earliest, and CCTV footage from all hospitals as well as from Safe City should be preserved so that evidence cannot be erased like it was on May 9 (2023). I have instructed my party as well as the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to take responsibility for the care and welfare of the families of those martyred as well as those injured, and to make every effort for the recovery of those who are missing; and to lend encouragement and support the legal teams pursuing the cases of those arrested. As far as whether the operation was a success or a failure, armed operations are always successful. The Lal Masjid operation was also successful, Yahya Khan also led a successful operation, but a month later the country was divided into two. The bloodbath that took place in Islamabad will have a long-lasting effect. I had instructed Bushra Bibi to take the demonstration to Islamabad under any circumstances, and she did what I had instructed her to. All office bearers and workers of PTI should unite and organize themselves to prepare for the next phase of our struggle for liberation from the mafia that has imposed itself on the country - this is not politics but a struggle for genuine democracy, rule of law and sovereignty.

I request all international human rights organizations to raise their voice against the massacre of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers in Islamabad, Pakistan, on 26 November night in which according to eyewitnesses scores of political activists have been shot dead and hundreds injured by security forces. In addition, I want you to help the people of Pakistan ensure the safety of the PTI’s founder and former prime minister, Imran Khan, whose life is in danger in prison following the massacre. Khan is the leader of Pakistan’s largest political party, who was indicted on trumped-up charges and has been imprisoned for one and a half years. Whenever courts grant him a bail in one case, the military-backed regime re-arrests him in another case. Justice is not being delivered. Political activists, including women, have been continued to be unjustly imprisoned. On behalf of millions of Pakistanis, I, Qasim Khan Suri, Former Deputy Speaker National Assembly of Pakistan, request your urgent assistance in this matter. Thanks and regards! @UNHumanRights @amnesty @UN_HRC @hrw @UNWatch @HRF @omctorg @OpenSociety @freedomhouse @ISHRglobal

Dear @mehdirhasan, @piersmorgan Imran Khan has reportedly been shifted from the prison to the headquarters of the Pakistani security forces. There is imminent(!) danger to his life according to the former speaker of the national assembly @QasimKhanSuri. A black hood has been placed on his head and he's being tortured in a tiny cell. This is extremely, extremely worrying as this follows closely on the heels of a massacre in Islamabad in which it seems like dozens have died (whose dead bodies they're currently hiding). They might be thinking this is a good opportunity to get rid of Imran Khan once and for all. Help us raise our voice! Tag anyone and everyone you think can make a difference! @SecKermani @sahouraxo @DD_Geopolitics @thewire_in @elonmusk @FareedZakaria @Lowkey0nline @amanpour @BenGoldsmith @CraigMurrayOrg @sherryontopp @jaketapper @MikeBenzCyber @SALHACHIMI @GUnderground_TV @ggreenwald @KenRoth @TateTheTalisman @MLiamMcCollum @steve_hanke @ShaykhSulaiman @voaurdu @democracynow @justfp @richimedhurst @georgegalloway @DarrenJBeattie @foxnewspolitics @MarioNawfal @Bushra1Shaikh @wilpujols @BenjaminNorton @TonyKaron @JacksonLeeTX18 @mikepompeo @MacaesBruno @chedetofficial @realDonaldTrump @SHABAZGIL

Tragedy is we are still unable to find dead bodies of many PTI martyrs. 250+ injured by gunshots in which many are dying everyday & not reported. Missing PTI protestors are either in hospitals or martyred. Lost someone on 9 may, another shot on 26 Nov. Revenge will be taken.

If you didn't believe that mass rapes and killings happened in Bangladesh's capital, the Islamabad massacre should remove all doubts about it. They brazenly killed people, abducted the dead bodies to claim no one was killed. And all this during a time of social media.

Horrified by reports of an attempted cover-up of the alleged killings of peaceful protesters by Asim Munir's regime in Pakistan. The US must impose visa bans and asset freezes on senior officials in the military regime.

The Guardian reports accusations from doctor of an attempt by Pakistan's regime to cover up the killings: “All records of dead and injured have been confiscated by authorities. We are not allowed to talk. Senior government officials are visiting the hospital to hide the records"
