As first shared by @axios, a new report released today by the NAM and @JoinFAI shows our broken permitting system is costing manufacturers in America $7.9 billion each year—underscoring the urgent need for bipartisan, comprehensive permitting reform to strengthen America’s economic and national security. The Export-Import Bank drives manufacturing investment here at home and U.S. competitiveness on the world stage. By leveling the playing field in overseas markets for manufacturers, EXIM supports millions of jobs, including for small and medium-sized businesses. To preserve American manufacturing leadership, our industry needs EXIM to be reauthorized this year—and manufacturers appreciate @Rep_Davidson for holding today’s @FinancialCmte hearing as an important step in the EXIM reauth process.

This @SECGov rule proposal will permanently protect privately held manufacturers from unworkable disclosure mandates and empower the capital formation necessary for growth and job creation across the sector. @ShopFloorNAM has long called for these exact changes to Rule 15c2-11, and today’s proposal is a win for manufacturers. sec.gov/newsroom/press…

Legal and regulatory environments can support manufacturing growth and job creation—or they can make it more difficult for manufacturers to invest and operate. Frivolous shareholder lawsuits, for example, are an expensive distraction for publicly traded manufacturers. It is encouraging to see states curb abusive litigation and provide a more favorable business climate for companies. nam.org/exxonmobil-see…

Runaway health care costs continue to threaten manufacturers—especially small and medium-sized businesses. By further reining in PBMs, increasing access to telehealth, expanding HSAs, incentivizing ICHRA adoption, codifying AHPs, and reforming the 340B program, Congress can make health care more affordable for manufacturers and manufacturing workers.

H.R. 1's deduction for investments in manufacturing production facilities is a critical incentive that will drive domestic manufacturing growth. In a recent @ShopFloorNAM survey, more than half of manufacturers indicated that they plan to utilize this new incentive. Manufacturers appreciate @USTreasury's attention to timely implementation that provides the certainty and guidance our sector needs to make long-term, job-creating investments. irs.gov/newsroom/treas…

Congress and the Trump administration passed a once-in-a-generation tax law last summer, and now @USTreasury is building on that win. The Corporate Alternative Minimum Tax has threatened manufacturers’ ability to raise wages, hire workers and invest in their communities since it was enacted in 2022. With today’s proposal, Treasury has taken a step toward fixing this fundamentally unworkable regime. nam.org/treasury-clear…

Manufacturers support the Litigation Transparency Act introduced by @ChuckGrassley, @SenThomTillis, @SenJohnKennedy, and @JohnCornyn, which will bring much-needed transparency and oversight to third-party litigation funding. Our civil justice system should not be used as an investment mechanism by shadowy actors with hidden agendas or anticompetitive motives. Disclosure of TPLF agreements puts parties on equal footing and ensures courts administer lawsuits in a fair and predictable way. judiciary.senate.gov/press/rep/rele…

Great to have @SECGov Chairman @SECPaulSAtkins join us at @ShopFloorNAM HQ. Chairman Atkins has long been a champion for reducing burdensome disclosure rules—especially for small manufacturers—and empowering companies to go and stay public.

The SEC's conflict minerals rule is a costly corporate disclosure mandate that diverts the resources of manufacturers from important investments in R&D, new equipment and jobs. Manufacturers thank @FinancialCmte and @RepHuizenga for advancing H.R. 7085 to repeal this burdensome rule.

Manufacturers thank @EdWorkforceCmte Chairman @RepRickAllen and his House colleagues for taking action to ensure that retirees receive their full pension benefits without having their savings jeopardized by intermediaries pushing social or political agendas.
House Committee on Education & Workforce@EdWorkforceCmte

❗️NOW: the House just passed @RepRickAllen's bill H.R. 2988, Protecting Prudent Investment of Retirement Savings Act, which clarifies fiduciaries must prioritize maximizing financial returns instead of using your retirement savings to push political or ideological agendas. @RepWalberg's statement on House passage of the bill:

Manufacturers thank @SECGov IM Director Brian Daly for delivering this important speech underscoring why investment advisors should exercise greater care when retaining proxy advisors. Proxy votes must reflect the long-term financial objectives of their clients, rather than the agendas of ESG activists.
U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission@SECGov

SEC Division of Investment Management Director Brian Daly gave a speech to the New York City Bar Association focused on proxy voting by registered investment advisers. Full remarks: sec.gov/newsroom/speec…
