A Call to Courage: Reflections on Law Enforcement and the State of Our Nation It’s been 25 years since the performance that helped shape a moment of national conscience, and as we approach May 13, 2026, we pause to reflect on where our country stands. The events and themes surrounding faith in the rule of law, constitutional duty, and the integrity of our institutions remain as urgent as ever. On May 13, 2001, Wayne County Deputy Sheriff Darron McKinney and vocalist Nichelle Colvin delivered a stirring rendition of “A Call to Courage” at the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Candlelight Vigil in Washington, D.C. Their message, poised between tribute and prophecy, carried a resonance that extended far beyond that evening. The performance occurred months before the September 11, 2001, attacks, a turning point in American history that sharpened the nation’s sense of duty, sacrifice, and resilience. The words and music spoke to courage not only in the face of physical danger but also in defense of the Constitution and the rule of law. Fast forward to 2025 and beyond, the vigil takes on new layers of meaning as America grapples with contemporary challenges to the rule of law and constitutional norms. There are ongoing conversations about accountability, due process, and the ethical responsibilities of public service. Concerns have been raised regarding the appropriateness of certain appointments and the experiences (or perceived lack thereof) of individuals in positions of authority across federal agencies, law enforcement, and national security. A national dialogue is needed about courage in public service today. Courage includes upholding due process, protecting civil liberties, and ensuring that law enforcement officers operate with integrity, fairness, and transparency. It also means acknowledging and learning from past mistakes, while continuing to honor the brave men and women who serve on the front lines—duty-bound to protect communities and the Constitution alike. As we gather to honor the fallen and support the living, we must consider both caution and hope. The courage celebrated in the vigil is not merely a reaction to danger but a commitment to ethical leadership, accountability, and adherence to the rule of law. Law enforcement officers across the country continue to exhibit remarkable bravery, often under intense scrutiny, and they deserve our respect and support as they strive to serve with honor. Looking ahead to this year’s memorial and vigil, may the voices of those who serve and those who support the rule of law guide us. May we strive for a system where leadership is earned through experience, training, and a steadfast commitment to constitutional rights. May we remember that true courage includes humility, accountability, and unwavering dedication to justice for all. @DCPoliceDept @CapitolPolice @NLEOMF @GLFOP @MSNOWNews @CNN @SecretService @FBI @AP @Pontifex @LouisFarrakhan @RabbiShmuley @TheRevAl @detroitpolice @Local4News #PoliceWeek2026 #PoliceWeek #LawEnforcement #ACallToCourage #DemonChaser

Message to Black people from Retired, Detroit Police, chief Ralph Godbee. Family we gotta stop “majoring in minors and minoring in majors”. The algorithm has been hijacked about the qualifications of @_drbryant and our obsession with disqualifying and canceling her while black America is being subjected to 2nd class status in America by the execution of Project 2025 and MAGA. Our fight is not with each other, at least it shouldn’t be. Keep that energy for the midterms. @detroitpolice @GLFOP @NAACP @NAACP_LDF @TheRevAl @StephenM @POTUS @elonmusk @VP @Pontifex @LouisFarrakhan @RabbiShmuley @Franklin_Graham @Paula_White @WhiteHouse @FoxNews @TheView @MSNOWNews @cnni @CNN @SpeakerJohnson @JimmyKimmelLive #PoliceWeek #PoliceWeek2026 #LawEnforcement #BlackMan #BlackWoman #VoteBlue #Midterms2026 #Midterms #BlueWave #Racism #Unity #Repost #BlackAndWhite #Vote

I feel like I got the sh*t back on course from the least secure disastrous, chaotic border to the most secure border in this country has ever seen. We will fully fund both border security and immigration enforcement for the balance of President Trump's term.   We're going do this for two reasons: maintaining border security and deporting dangerous criminal illegal aliens is the baseline that the American people demand and deserve, and because there's not a single Democrat in Congress — House or Senate — who believes that border security and immigration enforcement should exist.

In government, it seems like no one is EVER held accountable. Americans get spied on, the swamp just shrugs. Enough. Americans deserve better and that’s why we’re fighting to REFORM FISA and PROTECT Americans. FISA has been abused. If they can do it to me, they can do it to you.
