With fictitious “assassination plot”, Kinshasa propagandists further expose themselves
Congolese propagandist social media is pushing a childish, absurd, made-up story, which as usual targets Rwanda.
The story alleges that Rwandans in Washington attempted an assassination of DR Congo First Lady, Denise Nyakeru, in a hotel in Washington DC. An “assassination plot”, in a hotel corridor, with diplomats and security everywhere. That alone should tell any serious person about the thought processes of Tshisekedi’s propagandists.
Totally unserious people.
What, according to the allegation, would gain in an alleged assassination attempt on the wife of Tshisekedi? They say nothing about that. On top of the fact they have provided nothing (zero) evidence to back their wild accusation.
Why would Rwanda – known famously for its diplomatic smarts – attempt something that simply has no logic, no motive, and no benefits whatsoever? The story collapses the moment you apply basic common sense. What actually happened, according to the official clarification, was far less dramatic.

The false claim of an “assassination attempt” against DRC First Lady, while being a public opinion manipulation tactic, is a typical case of state RWANDOPHOBIA.
It shows how Rwandophobia has become state policy in DRC, profiling Congolese Rwandophones & Tutsi as “assassins”.

Seriously, look at the entitlement in this post. One might think, the scammer is a Head of State who receives daily security situation reports.
In our Kingwana version we say "Kujitapa"...and as of now, it is not a particularity of Congolese only. Whoever bewitched Africans, should have washed hands.

This is Dr. Von Batten. At approximately 4:51 p.m. today, I received first reports of a possible security incident involving the First Lady of the #DRC, Denise Nyakeru Tshisekedi @DeniseNyakeru. According to preliminary information, individuals identified by security as Rwandan nationals allegedly attempted an unlawful and hostile breach of the First Lady’s hotel room. Security personnel intervened swiftly, leading to a brief but intense struggle. The suspects ultimately escaped, with some accounts indicating they may have fled in a vehicle believed to have official links to the @PaulKagame Government of Rwanda @UrugwiroVillage. At this stage, it remains unclear whether this incident constituted an attempted assassination, an act of intimidation, or an effort to conduct surveillance. What is clear from reports is that the rapid response of security personnel prevented a potentially serious escalation. We commend their decisive action and are grateful that the First Lady is safe. The United States Government has been informed, and we will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide updates as more verified information becomes available. Thank you, #PerezidaWacu, for the honor of meeting the Rwandan Muslim community today, a moment that truly reflects the inclusive spirit of our nation.
Today, Muslims in Rwanda are integral to our national fabric, enjoying equal access to education, opportunities, and rights. They proudly serve at the highest levels as Ministers, Ambassadors, Members of Parliament, researchers, and leaders across various sectors, without compromising their names or identity. This was not always the case, and we cherish this progress.
Thanks to our current leadership, discrimination and exclusion have no place in #Rwanda. Recognizing both Eid celebrations as public holidays is more than a symbol; it embodies a commitment to inclusion, equality, and respect for all.
Just last week, while discussing Eid with some friends, they were astonished to learn that it’s a public holiday in Rwanda, a non Muslim country. I explained that, while Muslims make up a small percentage of our population, our leadership values every Rwandan, regardless of background, be it region, ethnicity, or faith.
Every Rwandan deserves equal opportunities, and the recognition of both Eids as public holidays is a testament to this principle!

Clarification de l'incident dans un hôtel à Washington DC
Un membre non armé des services de sécurité d'un VIP rwandais séjournant dans un hôtel de Washington DC a rencontré par inadvertance des agents de sécurité d'une délégation de la RDC dans un couloir d'hôtel accessible à tous les clients. Les deux délégations séjournaient dans le même hôtel.
Le membre rwandais a été brièvement empêché d'accéder à l'ascenseur par les agents de sécurité de la RDC, ce qui était inapproprié et un comportement erroné dans un espace commun, mais l'affaire a finalement été résolue sans nouvelle escalade.
À la suite de cet incident, le parti rwandais a pris la décision de changer d'hôtel, mais a été harcelé et filmé par des inconnus alors qu'ils étaient partis. Malgré cette provocation, l'équipe rwandaise était à tout moment retenue et professionnelle et évitait soigneusement toute confrontation.
Il y a eu de grossières fausses déclarations sur ce qui s'est passé, y compris une malhonnêteté flagrante de la part du ministre de l'Information de la RDC lors d'une conférence de presse hier soir. Ces mensonges méprisables doivent être ignorés et condamnés.

The Muvumba Multipurpose Dam Project, a major infrastructure initiative in Rwanda’s Eastern Province, is intended to address drought, improve water access, and support economic development.
While speaking at the Rwanda Military Academy (RMA) Gako in Bugesera District during a high-level consultative meeting with Cabinet Ministers, Governors, Mayors, and heads of institutions, President Paul Kagame expressed concern over the slow progress of the project, emphasizing the need for faster and more efficient implementation.
Located in Nyagatare District, the Rwf123 billion project is expected to be completed by 2026. It is largely financed by the African Development Bank, covering 97.2% of the cost, with support from the Government of Rwanda.
The dam, designed as a 39-meter-high earth-filled structure with a storage capacity of 55 million cubic meters, will supply 50,000 to 55,000 cubic meters of clean water daily to Nyagatare, Karangazi, and Rwimiyaga. It will also support irrigation across 7,380 to 11,000 hectares, reducing reliance on rainfall.
Additionally, the project includes a 1 MW hydropower plant expected to generate between 5.19 and 6.94 GWh annually, while also providing water for livestock and helping control floods in the region.
Construction began around 2022–2023, and once completed, the project is expected to significantly boost food security and strengthen resilience to climate change, particularly in drought-prone areas.
