If the U.S. considers the protection of Americans near the Rwanda–DRC border a legitimate concern, why should Rwanda not be expected to protect its own population living along the same border? The @StateDept itself warns that armed groups — some openly hostile to Rwanda — operate in eastern #DRC, and that “ongoing violence (…) has the risk of spilling over into Rwanda.” No government — especially one shaped by a history as painful as genocide — can reasonably ignore hostile armed groups operating directly across its borders. If the U.S. recognizes the need to protect its citizens against armed groups operating in the DRC and “oppos(ing) the Rwandan government,” then it is only consistent to acknowledge Rwanda’s duty to do the same. And if Rwanda is considered one of the safest countries in the world, it is also because it takes warning signs seriously, among other measures aimed at protecting its people and preserving stability. Why should Rwanda — arguably the country most directly exposed — be expected to do less to protect its people against “violence (that) may spill into Rwanda without warning”? @SecRubio @USAmbRwanda @RwandaInUSA @US_SrAdvisorAF #Rwanda #DRC

A FEW MOMENTS LATER...

A lawless individual was given a licence to kill by the international community, and he will of course use it to the fullest, as his power and wealth ensure him to never be condemned or held accountable.

Forty minutes ago, at 4:20 PM on Friday, May 8, 2026, Mr. Tshisekedi and his army, the FARDC, bombed the Mushaki market and its surroundings in Masisi territory using drones. In the market itself and around the perimeter, 20 bodies were found (20 people killed) and 60 wounded. The death toll is rising because private homes near the market were destroyed, along with the families inside. Emergency services are continuing to collect more bodies and wounded. The perpetrators of these war crimes and their accomplices will be held accountable one way or another, sooner or later. These crimes are not subject to any statute of limitations. When we talk about criminals who take pleasure in killing and shedding blood, which has nothing to do with the art of war, we are not exaggerating. What just happened tonight has no connection whatsoever with the ongoing war or the front line. @realDonaldTrump, @StateDept , @US_SrAdvisorAF, @_AfricanUnion, @ymahmoudali, @antonioguterres, @WilliamsRuto , @PaulKagame, @edmnangagwa, @KagutaMuseveni, @SuluhuSamia, @FelixTshis13, @GeneralNeva, @MofaQatar_EN, @jumuiya, @SADC_News, @JDVance @CyrilRamaphosa, @onduhungirehe, @marcorubio, @EmmanuelMacron, @MONUSCO,@PresidenceTg, @FEGnassingbe, @FelixTshis13 , @kajakallas, @eucopresident, @volker_turk, @HuangXia16, @prevotmaxime, @kikayabinkarubi.

“5 YEARS OF STATE OF SIEGE” AFC/M23 leader Corneille Nangaa says the state of siege declared by Félix Tshisekedi was never about restoring security in Ituri. According to Nangaa, it was: • A political strategy to create positions for close allies and relatives • A way to install Gen. Johnny Luboya Nkashama as governor • A system that institutionalized insecurity in Ituri • A mechanism tied to gold exploitation and division among local communities “The state of siege became a permanent policy,” Nangaa stated, alleging that insecurity in Ituri serves economic and political interests linked to gold exploitation. #RDC #Ituri #AFCM23 #StateOfSiege #MamaUrwagasaboTV

One of my greatest regrets from my time as US AsstSecState for Africa was advocating for US to support Tshisekedi as winner of Congo's 2018 election. I thought he would really be different and advance the Congolese people's interests. How wrong I was! africanews.com/2026/05/07/drc…
