Its is good for entertainment. Full of selected & half truths, creating an imaginary narrative. It's as laughable as someone who saw a few episodes of Mahabharat & claims to have understood Gita or someone who describes a 9 feet diameter sky. Laugh it out youtube.com/live/Tcw_5v0pA…

Thank you to @sktvmanipur for sharing this heart warming scene where Meiteis, Nagas and Kukis are still mixing together as before and I hope this continues. As one of the guys says “It is the old Kukis who are coming down to the market, not the new Kukis”. Now that this information is widely known, all out efforts may be coming through intimidation from those who engineered the violence to those who are coming down to the markete. I hope adequate security measures are taken up to protect this atmosphere 🙏🏻@NBirenSingh youtu.be/F9iRc4i6osY?si…

A shameful tweet by @Polytikles referring to Manipur’s tragedy for political gains! Your Tweet forces me to write this post. 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐩𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐈𝐍𝐂 𝐬𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐬𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲 𝐢𝐧 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐩𝐮𝐫? Manipur, a former kingdom of more than 2000 yrs old civilisation, was merged into India in 1949. That long history is reflected in its arts & culture, language & script, etc. After independence, Manipur had its own constitution and held adult franchise in 1948, arguably the first in South Asia. After merger, Manipur was put as a Part C state, equivalent to a commissioner’s province until 1956 when it became a Union Territory; perhaps an insult? What was the biggest gift of Pandit Nehru’s INC to Manipur for becoming part of India? 𝑮𝒊𝒗𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒂𝒘𝒂𝒚 𝑲𝒂𝒃𝒐𝒘 𝑽𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒆𝒚, 𝒂𝒃𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒉𝒂𝒍𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒄𝒖𝒓𝒓𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒔𝒊𝒛𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝑴𝒂𝒏𝒊𝒑𝒖𝒓, 𝒕𝒐 𝑩𝒖𝒓𝒎𝒂 𝒊𝒏 1951! As indigenous people of the land, people are still very emotive about this. In spite of the public demand for full statehood, it was not given until 1972. Whereas Nagaland, a former province of Assam, was given full statehood in 1963! Humiliated and insulted, the youths started insurgency movement in 1964 to bring back its former glory! 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐈𝐍𝐂 𝐬𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐬𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐭? Instead of doing its utmost to bring the insurgents to the negotiating table for a solution, what INC at the centre did? 𝑫𝒊𝒗𝒊𝒅𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑹𝒖𝒍𝒆 𝒑𝒐𝒍𝒊𝒄𝒚 𝒊𝒏𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝒇𝒓𝒐𝒎 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒊𝒓 𝒎𝒂𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒔! In the 1980s, they reportedly trained and armed Kuki groups and used them to fight the insurgency! @PChidambaram_IN @LegendEconomist (Dr. Manmohan Singh) know it all about why so many Kuki militant groups exist. They legitimised these militant groups by signing SoO, Suspension of Operations, in 2005 and 2008 by paying monthly stipends! Every right thinking person knows why this fictitious ‘suspension’ was signed! Emboldened by their recognition and legitimisation, the Kuki militants started executing the master plan to form their cherished dreamland of Zalengam, a Kuki Lebensraum copying the Nazi ideology! Bringing in people from across the border and settling them in reserved & protected forests, poppy plantation and drug manufacturing & trafficking from Golden Triangle into India, are all part of the grand design of the formation of Zalengam! All these happened under the watchful eyes of those who signed SoO! 𝑾𝒉𝒚 𝒅𝒊𝒅 𝑲𝒖𝒌𝒊 𝒎𝒊𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒔 𝒅𝒊𝒓𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒍𝒚 𝒂𝒕𝒕𝒂𝒄𝒌𝒆𝒅 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒓𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝒆𝒕𝒉𝒏𝒊𝒄 𝒄𝒍𝒆𝒂𝒏𝒔𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒊𝒏𝒏𝒐𝒄𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝑴𝒆𝒊𝒕𝒆𝒊 𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒎𝒖𝒏𝒊𝒕𝒚 𝒇𝒓𝒐𝒎 𝑲𝒖𝒌𝒊 𝒅𝒐𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝒂𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒔 𝒐𝒏 𝑴𝒂𝒚 3𝒓𝒅, 2023? Engineered to create extreme rift between the communities to create a narrative that they can’t live together anymore with a hope to demand a separate Kuki state, the first stage towards Zalengam, an ethnic Kuki only state in the 21st century! 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝒄𝒖𝒓𝒓𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝑩𝑱𝑷 𝒈𝒐𝒗𝒕 𝒂𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒄𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒓𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒓𝒐𝒖𝒈𝒉 𝒊𝒕𝒔 𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒅-𝒊𝒏 & ‘𝒇𝒖𝒍𝒍𝒚 𝒄𝒐𝒐𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈’ (𝒂𝒔 𝒑𝒆𝒓 𝑯𝑴 @AmitShah) 𝑴𝒂𝒏𝒊𝒑𝒖𝒓 𝒈𝒐𝒗𝒕 𝒍𝒆𝒅 𝒃𝒚 @NBirenSingh, 𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒐𝒘𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒇𝒍𝒊𝒄𝒕 𝒕𝒐 𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒖𝒆 𝒊𝒏𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒂𝒅 𝒐𝒇 𝒇𝒊𝒏𝒊𝒔𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒊𝒕 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒇𝒊𝒓𝒔𝒕 𝒇𝒆𝒘 𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒓𝒔 𝒐𝒓 𝒅𝒂𝒚𝒔! Why? Why are the journalists of our country like @nikita_jain15, @vijaita etc not follow journalistic ethos to bring accountability and save our people? With regard to your 𝙘𝙡𝙖𝙞𝙢 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙄𝙉𝘾 𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙨 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙫𝙞𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙢𝙨, let’s have a Quick Look at its track record in Manipur on the next tweet. Contd/-

Dear @nikita_jain15 It has been more than 24 hours we mailed you regarding the factual errors in your misleading article. Despite our telephonic conversation and multiple follow ups by our team, you have declined to share co-ordinates of @Sudha_Ra @Diplomat_APAC to discuss our concerns; nor have you acknowledged our mail. We are therefore constrained to highlight the errors in your article here. We request you to take down this misleading report. The errors in your article are listed below: 1. The bodies of over 80 people of the Kuki-Zo community, which were lying in a morgue at an Imphal Hospital for almost a year were buried by the community in a grave set up atop a mountain in Manipur, India, 2024. Factual errors: i. It was 60 bodies which were lying at 2 Govt hospitals namely RIMS and JNIMS ii. Not for almost 1 year but 7-8 months. iii. Imphal Hospital is a private hospital and does not have a morgue. Note: Kuki CSOs threatened the families from claiming the bodies or compensation, which led to CJI slamming their lawyer; omitted. Missing in the story). 2. Premlatha, a Meitei woman, traveled all the way from Manipur to Delhi: Factual error: She came on a flight. National Highways are blocked by Kuki Militants since May, 2023 and Meiteis can’t travel by road and forced to take expensive flight. Her flight ticket was raised by donation by 12 CSOs, including Meitei Heritage Society), a distance of 2,251 km by road, to make her voice be heard by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Her 18-year-old son Unthane (Incorrect name: Should be Anthony). 3. The Meiteis comprise 51 percent of Manipur’s population and are predominantly Hindu although there are some Meitei Muslims and Christians as well. They mostly reside in the Imphal valley and hold most positions of power in the government, police and bureaucracy Factual error: Top bureaucrats are held by Tribes particularly Kuki. E.g manipurpolice.gov.in/?page_id=261 3 Meiteis Vs at least 7 Kukis in Top 21. The former DGP was also a Kuki P Doungel when violence broke on May 3, until his transfer in June last year. Similar with Bureaucrats). 4. Meiteis are not allowed to purchase land in Manipur’s hill districts, where the Kukis live, alongside other tribal communities, collectively known as Kuki-Zo. The Kuki-Zo comprise 14 percent of Manipur’s population and have held Scheduled Tribe (ST) status for years. Misleading because you juxtapose the 51% Meitei population Vs 14%; but conveniently omit the cmost crucial aspect that is this 51% population is boxed in less than 10% land; which even all tribes accept. Kuki or any tribe can buy land in valley, further shrinking the land for Meiteis. Technically, an apartheid on land rights for Meiteis. It is tragic that Meiteis can buy land in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata or Chennai but not in their homeland of over 2000 years.) 5. On May 3 last year, news spread that a rally in Churachandpur where the All Tribal Students Union had opposed the Manipur High Court’s recommendation of ‘Scheduled Tribe’ status to the Meiteis, had turned violent. Factual error/misleading: It is not news but a fact. At least, 3 Kuki Militants with AK-47 participated in rally and by 3:30 PM, began burning Meitei villages and the videos became viral. See complete details with evidence here: meiteiheritage.org/manipur-crisis… ) 6. The violence spread like wildfire through Manipur. In Imphal, the Kuki-Zo were forced to run from their homes as mobs started burning their homes and properties. Soon the violence spread to the hill districts where both Meitei and Kuki-Zo were attacked Major factual error: Violence already started in Churachandpur by Kuki Mobs and Militants which include burning of Forest office, looting of Gun shop and then eventually burning of Meitei villages in Torbung Bangla and then Moreh. Retaliation by Meiteis started by around 7:00-7:30 PM when videos of the burning of Meitei houses became viral. Please refer previous link) 7. Many lost their lives. No Kuki-Zo live in valley today. Gross Factual error/ and completely misleading: Meitei settlements in Churachandpur and Moreh were cleansed and in the Churachandpur the colonies were reduced to ground zero using bulldozer in text book ethnic cleansing method, deployed by Israel in Palestine and denounced by the UN. ndtv.com/india-news/ent… 8. The mob belonged to the Arambai Tenggol, an armed Meitei militia. Misleading: You conveniently skipped the Kuki Militants burning Meitei Villages and selectively cites example of Arambai Tengol. Why?) 9. Although Arambai Tenggol claims to be a sociocultural organization that is working toward reinstating Sanamahism as the official religion of Manipur—Sanamahism was the religion of the Meitei before Hinduism replaced it in the eighteenth century— it is an armed militia that has been at the forefront of the ongoing ethnic conflict and is accused of rampant harassment, extortion and violence. Factual error: They took up arms after the violence because naturally you can’t fight Kuki Militants with AK 47 walking openly in streets with Lathis and catapults. 10. The ethnic violence in Manipur has claimed the lives of over 200 people and displaced close to 60,000 people of the Kuki-Zo and Meitei communities. The majority of the victims are from the Kuki-Zo community. There are close to 45,000 Kuki-Zo people still living in difficult conditions in different camps for the displaced of the hill districts, while 15,000 displaced Meitei people are living in camps set up in Imphal. Major Factual error: As per Govt report, in Sept 2023 there were 59,425 victims in Relief camps of which 23,853 were Meiteis and 35,572 were Kukis. 11. Since the start of the violence, traveling between the valley and the hills has stopped, making it impossible for the tribal community to have access to the national airport in Imphal. Misleading: Portrays Kuki Zo have been denied access to travel. National Highways are blocked by Kuki Militants since May 2023 and Meiteis can't travel by road and forced to take expensive flight. Most Meiteis can’t afford flights. 12. Premlatha, whose son went missing in November 2023, says that all she knows about him is that he was last seen in Dimapur, the capital of the neighboring state of Nagaland. Factual error: They left from their home in a bike and crossed the buffer Zone at Sekmai, outside Imphal and kidnapped by Kuki Militants. 13.“Another boy of the same age as my son went missing that day too. So we went to the Chief Minister’s Office and were informed that Kuki volunteers took the boys away,” Factual error/ Misquote: Militants abducted them not village volunteers taking them away. 14. Pictures of the two Manipuri students went viral on social media. One was of the two boys sitting in fear in front of armed men Major factual error: They were Kuki Militants and CBI has arrested 5 of them. hindustantimes.com/india-news/man… ). 15. Amid the ongoing elections to the lower house of the Indian parliament, the situation in Manipur has worsened. Fresh violence was reported from Manipur’s Tengnoupal district between two insurgent groups on April 12, merely six days before the state was supposed to vote. On April 14, unidentified gunmen shot dead two tribal village defense volunteers Misleading: They were Kuki Militants. 16. The people of Manipur are disappointed with the Manipur High Court not bringing to justice those behind the violence in several major cases, including the gang rape and public parading of two Kuki women. The video of these horrific cases went viral on social media. Misleading: The first gang rape victim was a Meitei raped by at least 5 Kuki Miscreants/Militants until she lost consciousness on May 3, 2023 – the first day of the violence. #pfrom=home-ndtv_topscroll" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">ndtv.com/india-news/i-f…
The news spread, triggering the unfortunate parading incident) 17. The Kuki-Zo community is demanding a separate administration for themselves. The Meitei community, meanwhile, is calling for strict action on “illegal immigrants.” Factual error: Amit Shah has said in Lok Sabha about the role of illegal immigration, so has Jai Shankar. As per UNHCR report, during Feb 2021 and May 1, 2023, 53,500 Myanmar refugees came to India. Authorities concede the unofficial number is much higher. In 2 days alone, on July 22-23, 718 illegal immigrants from Myanmar entered Chandel district. The President of the Zomi Revolutionary Army, Mr Thanglianpao Guite, admitted he was an elected MP of Myanmar and migrated to India in 1995. The Home Ministry initiated an investigation on how he and his family acquired Indian citizenship Please refer meiteiheritage.org/manipur-crisis…. We understand the challenges of covering this Manipur crisis, due to layers of complex issues, lack of information/understanding of the background and challenges to access the correct information etc. But as a respected media house, we expect the highest level of journalism and balanced reporting. As evident, the article is littered with factual errors and therefore we request you to kindly remove this article.
