The Liangmeis, Kacha Nagas & ZUF in Manipur should do well to remember that they are the Nomadic Tribes of Manipur.
Accordingly, Manipur Government has recognized them under the category of Nomadic Tribes of India & has submitted this classification to the Renke Commission, officially known as the National Commission for Denotified, Nomadic & Semi-Nomadic Tribes (NCDNST) constituted under India's Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment.

Manipur: Shangkai Youth Club has issued a statement clarifying the incident in Shangkai Vill on 12 Nov 25, where reckless bike riders injured a passerby, sparking a confrontation that led to a physical altercation. The issue has been amicably resolved with police intervention.

On 16.11.2025, Security Forces arrested an active cadre of UNLF (P), one Nongmaithem Bidyasagar Singh @ Kapchaoba (24) of Khumbong Awang Leikai area under Patsoi-PS, Imphal West district from his residence. He was involved in extortion activities by threatening the drivers and snatching the documents/keys of truck drivers plying at Jiribam Imphal Road. From his possession, the following items were seized:
i)01 (one) mobile handset and
ii)01 (one) Aadhaar card.

@KDscribe While I agree that it is merely an opinion piece, the question remains, should the hate fueled opinion of someone who continually vilifies an entire community needs to be amplified by @IndiaTodayNE at all?
This is the very person who, in the immediate aftermath of the brutal murder of a Kuki girl by her Meitei partner, had the audacity not to condemn the crime but to blame the victim and her family for encouraging her to remain in live in relationship during conflict. This is the same individual who repeatedly demonizes the Kuki community as refugees from Myanmar & slanders Kuki women & Our Indian Army by accusing them of prostituting themselves to the Indian Army.
Does such toxic prejudice deserve a platform? Rather than giving a plateform to amplify hatred & divisiveness, shouldn't @IndiaTodayNE reject these venomous lies.

On 19 Sept 2025, unidentified terrorists ambushed a vehicle column of 33 Assam Rifles on NH-2 near Nambol Sabal Leikai, an AFSPA-denotified area in Manipur. Two brave soldiers made the supreme sacrifice, while five others sustained injuries and were evacuated to RIMS Imphal and they are stable. No group has claimed responsibility so far, and search operations are underway to neutralise the perpetrators.

Five Meitei students from Manipur have been suspended in Assam for the heinous gangrape of a minor Tripuri girl. The victim, a Tripuri girl, was raped by a Meitei boy who had invited friends over for a party. The boys then forcibly locked the door, capturing footage of the incident. The victim was later raped again by the boys, who then forced her to sleep in her bedroom. When she woke up, she was bleeding and one of the boys was lying on top of her, naked, attempting to record a video. The boy confessed and pleaded not to go to the police, claiming his family was poor and his father was suffering from cancer. The victim believed only one boy had raped her, but after reporting the incident, shocking evidence was uncovered that all five students had raped her. The police confirmed the crime with valid proof and arrested them. This incident highlights the deep-rooted ethnic hatred and misogyny that has spilled beyond Manipur's borders.

Another proud son of Assam: Armstrong Changsan of Dima Hasao was appointed as India's Ambassador to Cuba in 2024.
Armstrong Changsan was working as the Joint Secretary and Chief Passport Officer of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Government of India. Thongkhomang Armstrong Changsan is the eldest son of Late Vumkhosei Changsan IAS (commonly known as V. Changsan), of Haflong town in Dima Hasao district, Assam.
One of Armstrong Changsan's sister Sweety L. Changsan is IAS officer (Sweety Lamchonghoi Changsan) , while his brother is Executive Member of NCHills Autonomous Council in Dima Hasao district of Assam.
Armstrong Changsan, Indian Foreign Service (1997 batch) had earlier served as Consul General at the Indian consulate in Osak-Kobe, Japan, Deputy High Commissioner of India to South Africa and postings in Lagos and Tokyo.
