Ironically, real cyber crime police often don’t create such polished documents! How Do These Scammers Operate? 1.Fake Legal Notices: They send fabricated letters via email, WhatsApp, or post, claiming legal action against you for cyber offences. 2.Intimidation Tactics: The notice may mention legal sections, fines, or even arrests to create panic. 3.Demand for Money or Personal Data: They often ask for a “settlement” amount or personal details like Aadhar, PAN, or bank account credentials. 4.Urgency to Pay: They pressure you to act immediately, leaving little time to verify the legitimacy. How to Identify a Fake Cyber Crime Notice? ✅ Check the Sender’s Details: Official government emails always end in gov. in or nic. In (e.g., cybercrime.gov.in). Scammers use Gmail, Yahoo, or random domains. ✅ Verify the Language: Government notices follow formal legal language. Spelling mistakes, grammatical errors, or awkward phrasing are red flags. ✅ Look for Contact Details: Fake notices may include incorrect phone numbers or addresses. Always cross-check with official sources. ✅ Official Websites Only: Always verify any claim directly from the government’s official Cyber Crime Portal (cybercrime.gov.in) before taking action.
