A Louisiana resident who identified himself as Marshawn delivered a fiery, emotional speech to lawmakers during a state Senate hearing over redistricting Monday, accusing Republicans of trying to “cheat” Black voters out of political power.

This is by far the smartest , and most honest take I have seen coming out from our elected officials in Congress. Kudos to Senator @timkaine for telling the truth:

Neguse: Where is this company headquartered? Noem: I don’t know. Neguse: I don’t know either. We can’t find it. We did find an address that’s registered to a political operative. This company that received 143 million dollars was incorporated 8 days before this contract went out. You want the American people to believe that this is all above board, that $143 million of taxpayer money just happened to go to this one company that doesn't have a headquarters, doesn't have a website, has never done work for the federal government before and is registered apparently or attached to a residence from a political operative, and of course one of the subcontractors of that contract, as you know, is a political firm that's tied to, to you back when you were governor of South Dakota?

On Friday, I hosted a forum with the top 5 Democrats running for governor of California on how they'd fix the state's housing crisis. Some really interesting moments, including this one, from @katieporterca, on California Forever and master-planned communities. Full forum on podcast apps/Youtube.

Thank you, @ReverendWarnock, for welcoming me to Ebenezer Baptist Church today. As legislatures across the South seek to draw Black Americans out of power, we gathered this Sunday to steel ourselves for the work ahead. We will always stand together, and we will not go back.

Bob Kagan has about as strong Iran hawk credentials as anyone. And yet from Day 1 he had the strategic disaster that is this war pegged. This piece has the geniuses behind it dead to rights. Checkmate in Iran theatlantic.com/international/…

@matthiasellis Part of the takeaway should be that left wing positions should be customized for the particularities of the local culture. Platner works in Maine, AOC in New York, Talarico in Texas, etc, but if you swapped them around they’d run into problems

We have a year’s worth of economic data since Liberation Day, when President Trump announced much higher tariffs on most imported goods and countries, and the data are definitive; the tariffs have done significant damage to the economy. Since that day, job growth has come to a standstill, with only the non-traded healthcare industry adding meaningfully to payrolls. Also, since that day, inflation has accelerated, with the consumer expenditure deflator increasing at a 3% year-over-year pace, up from 2.5% before the tariffs and well above the Federal Reserve’s target of 2%. And the trend lines don’t look good, especially as the economic fallout from the Iran War hits with full force. The higher energy and other commodity prices caused by the war threaten to do even more economic damage than the tariffs, further undermining growth and pushing inflation higher. The U.S. economy is resilient, but just how resilient is set to be tested.

Graham Platner: “What we need is a clear political message about who is to blame. Because it isn’t immigrants, it’s not trans kids. It’s billionaires, it’s corporations, it’s Wall Street, it’s private equity, it’s Silicon Valley as it manipulates our feelings and commodifies our entire being”

How is this being treated as normal? A Republican governor is declaring a state of emergency to cancel an ongoing election for Congress. If you think this is ends with redistricting, you are not paying attention.

Last night, Israeli forces intercepted and boarded a humanitarian aid flotilla bound for Gaza in international waters off the coast of Greece — unlawfully detaining more than 175 people, including several New Yorkers. My team has been in direct contact with State and Federal partners as we work to confirm the whereabouts and conditions of these New Yorkers. This is a brazen violation of international law. Those detained must be released.

Iran’s latest AI Lego video marks a significant pivot. Instead of taunting the US military, it reflects a new chapter in which Tehran will seek peace by reaching out directly to the American people, bypassing the US government. It's a mirror image of the US strategy of the past decades. Some of the lines are quite noteworthy and will likely resonate with the anti-establishment sentiments prevailing among American youth in particular: "I love the constitution, the way it was meant. But not the way your leaders bypass consent..."

Ossoff: What's happening right now in the Strait of Hormuz is a geostrategic and economic calamity and a huge self-inflicted wound. It appears that the President has gotten himself stuck and is desperately trying to extricate himself from his own mistake. It is worth remembering that now, 13 Americans have been killed in action, hundreds wounded, thousands of civilians killed. Munitions – it will take years to replace. Grave damage to our standing and position in the world, and yet, the regime in Tehran is still intact, as are their ballistic missile and drone forces, as is their ability to choke off global energy supplies, as is their stockpile of highly enriched uranium, which they only built after President Trump shredded President Obama's Iran deal.

More of the same rehearsed, stock answers from Trump’s judiciary nominees. We need judges who are fearless & strong, not spineless & weak—so fearful of Trump that they are unable to say Biden won the 2020 election.

What did Charles actually do? He praised NATO in front of its loudest critic. He championed climate action in front of a climate denier. He called for interfaith dialogue during an administration that has banned citizens from Muslim-majority countries. He praised checks and balances on executive power to a room full of lawmakers who have been unable to exercise them. He referenced the Middle East crisis that is currently straining the alliance he was there to celebrate. He defended the Royal Navy after Trump publicly insulted it. And he did all of this while receiving standing ovations, bipartisan laughter, and a dinner invitation.
