Masvingo woman appeals for US$ 600 to undergo heart scan MASVINGO- A 46-year-old woman from Mucheke A in Masvingo, Hellen Jinya, who is suffering from a heart condition, is urgently seeking financial assistance to undergo a critical CT scan (chest angiogram) at the National Pathology Centre in Gweru. The scan, which costs US$300, is necessary to determine whether her heart is functioning properly. An additional US$250 is required for transport from Masvingo to Gweru, while US$50 is needed for blood tests. Jinya’s niece, Prevena Evelyn Chakanyuka, said her aunt has been battling the condition since 2000 and that her health has deteriorated over time. Jinya, a single mother of three minor children, two boys and a girl has seen her illness severely affect her family. Her 16-year-old son’s education has been disrupted, as he is now seeking ways to support his mother and siblings due to financial constraints. “The illness has affected the schooling of one of her children, who is now trying to support the family. He could not continue with his studies and left school early because of financial difficulties,” said Chakanyuka. Due to her condition, Jinya experiences severe swelling throughout her body when she carries heavy items and occasionally collapses. According to medical reports dated March 30, 2026, Jinya’s blood has been clotting, and the scan will help determine whether her heart is pumping blood properly. She is currently admitted at Masvingo General Hospital.
