If you’re still able to accrue cap with him signed then adding at the TDL could make them quite deep.

the dude is undeniably skilled. I just would rate him closer to a FLA Brandon Montour type on a contender than a guy who will actually carry the load. he'll produce in Chicago, there's no doubt. Just think it's a gamble to make him the headliner on your blueline

his glow up last year was still to a level that was basically neutral in terms of playdriving and was basically the exact right situation to maximize his skills at 5v5. there are massive question marks around his ability to elevate the team around him

On Bowen Byram: The people posting his advanced analytics and dunking on the deal are posting a weighted average of the past 3 seasons and not acknowledging the significant jump last year. He’s going to continue to grow on both sides of the puck, have a 15 point uptick on the PP, and in a year when the deal actually kicks in no one is going to be talking about it because it will be fair. He will never be the highest paid defenseman in the league because by the time we reach 27/28 there will be a handful of guys making significantly more. But ya a team that’s trying to take a step out of a rebuild is taking a gamble on a young player’s development curve so all the know it alls are going to do their engagement farming, I get it, it’s the game. I love the game and have been known to play ball from time to time as well!

According to David Pagnotta, there was a reported deal on the table between Edmonton & Boston involving Nurse, which was nixed because of it.

Sure, why not? Joseph doesn't score a whole lot, but he's physical, the possession numbers are decent and he's used to starting shifts in the defensive zone. Absolutely nothing wrong with that for that price point.
