One thing the UK is world class at now - petty bureaucracy! 5 of us went to see the Odyssey this evening, including my 17 yr old son and 15 yr old niece. Weren’t allowed in as the kids didn’t have proof of age - and they wouldn’t take the word of us parents. Pathetic.

@MartinSLewis Erm... is this actually true? That's not an original photo you've posted. The information on the left has clearly been pasted onto the photo. It's not printed on the bag itself. It's way too flat and perfect.

Just spotted this. It's misleading and unnecessary, who eats 5/6th of a bag?

@RobinJPowell @jerrodjam Yes, as well as global index funds I also like Multi Asset funds like Vanguard Life Strategy, as they have a range of funds which include different percentages of bonds, to suit your risk tolerance.

@jerrodjam @cyclist_jim I'm a journalist, not an adviser, but I personally invest in a Vanguard LifeStrategy fund, an MSCI World index tracker and three factor-based funds from Avantis.

Just buy the S&P 500.' That's advice from smart people. Buffett, Bogle, Samuelson all said it. And if you'd followed it for 15 years, you'd have crushed it. But it hides something almost nobody talks about.

@RobinJPowell Agree, better to just buy a global index fund instead.

The S&P 500 isn't 'the market'. It's 500 companies from one country. And right now, it's really a bet on a small number of tech-related stocks. The top ten are nearly 40% of the index. For most of the past century? About 25%.

@jerrodjam @RobinJPowell But surely buying a global index fund is more diversified and also avoids investment paralysis?

@John_Stepek I think that would be a really small average sum as I don't think many people would risk much of hard earned money they already had in savings for a lottery 50/50 chance of £1m.

@liamcsc To be fair, we were ready to celebrate finishing 3rd in our group, if it had got us through to the knockout stages.

Say what you want about Scotland, but we will never celebrate finishing 3rd at a World Cup. Absolutely pathetic mentality.

@henrywinter He seems to be saying he tried to help the players by putting on more defenders. Why didn't he help them by instructing them to keep attacking after scoring?

Thomas Tuchel: "I have no regrets over my decisions. I felt we became too passive, I felt the momentum switches, I tried to help my team. I trusted my experience, instinct and competitiveness. I take personal responsibility for these decisions. The decisions are made under stress. Is it easier if someone takes the blame, I take the blame. If you need someone to blame, I am the head coach."

@iMiaSanMia A loss is a loss, and a win is a win. Morocco suffered more because they lost after leading by 2 goals, yet they didn't make a fuss like England

Harry Kane: "We're gutted for the boys, gutted for everyone, the team, the staff, the fans. We played a good game for the large majority of it. When we went 1-0 up, we seemed to try and hold on, which at this level is not enough. We've worked so hard to be here. So to fall short is just gutting."

@grinter1528 @henrywinter Agree. The team needs a good sports psychologist working closely with them to achieve a positive mindset, as too many players seemed to be fearful of making mistakes.

@henrywinter Missing the point entirely! Nobody doubts we have enough players capable of trapping a football. The problem lies between the ears, an absolute lack of a positive mindset and intelligence have been generationaly absent. Until we address that we'll continue to underwhelm.

England’s players aren’t the problem. They must take some responsibility but, really, they’re not the problem. A good group with some exceptional players. They have two of the top five scorers of this World Cup, Harry Kane and Jude Bellingham, both world class. They have a winger in Anthony Gordon just bought by Barcelona who was troubling Argentina (and scoring) until taken off. A dynamic midfielder in Elliot Anderson bought for £116m who belied his relative youth to impress at his first senior tournament. Another £100m+ midfielder in Declan Rice, who fought valiantly even when it looked like a brief illness and a long, intense season caught up with him. Saka, Rogers and some of the defenders like the hugely promising O’Reilly. Good players.  A possession man in Kobbie Mainoo kicking his polished heels on the bench. Talents left behind like Wharton, Palmer, Foden, Alexander-Arnold, Scott and Gibbs-White. More coming through like Dowman. England have the players.

@JamesMelville Even if it is an exciting match and England play really well and win, all it would prove is that they can play well when there is no real pressure on them.

@Macavertyoutlo1 @PinocchPrincess Well, if we had won the World Cup 60 years ago, we would also rightly keep going on about it. Just like we go on about beating England in 1967.

@PinocchPrincess It's not so much hate as complete and utter boredom of listening to your media going on and on about it. Jeez they are still going on about 1966......60 bloody years ago. Personally I hope the Argies thrash them and shut the pundits and the MSM up !!!

Princess Pinocchio 🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
I see quite a lot of posts on here from Scottish football fans 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿⚽. I appreciate those who have said that they will be supporting England tonight. Thank you! ⚽🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 To those Scottish fans who have the "anyone but England" mentality, I would like to point out that if the things were reversed you would have a whole country behind you. The only time I don't support Scotland is if they play England! You are our neighbours and brothers. Why so much hate? It's definitely not a 2-way street coming from the other side.

@MartinSLewis Agree you can't give more than 100% effort. However, I think there are occasions where larger percentages can be correctly quoted, e.g. if say, something that cost £100 twenty years ago, costs £250 now, the cost has risen by 150% over that time.
