@overton_news On notice, you think China gives a crap about that. The days are over where the US just pushed countries around, Iran is showing that.

BREAKING: Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent says the U.S. has already put two Chinese banks on notice over possible Iranian money flows — warning of potential secondary sanctions. BESSENT: “I do have an update on sanctions.” “Iran is the…or used to be the largest state sponsor of terrorism.” “China was purchasing more than 90% of their oil, which is about 8% of China’s energy needs.” “We believe this blockade in the straits, there will be a pause of Chinese buying.” “But I will tell you that two Chinese banks received letters from the U.S. Treasury…I’m not going to identify the banks…but we told them that if we can prove that there is Iranian money flowing through your accounts, then we are willing to put on secondary sanctions.”

Trump just announced the Strait of Hormuz is permanently open, with China agreeing to cut off all weapons to Iran—direct result of the naval blockade’s maximum pressure. This is smart, strength-based diplomacy delivering peace without endless war. What astute diplomatic phenomenology does this triumphant recalibration of adversarial incentives provoke among discerning stewards of republican primacy?

🚨Straight from Trump! China is very happy that I am permanently opening the Strait of Hormuz. I am doing it for them, also - And the World. This situation will never happen again. They have agreed not to send weapons to Iran. President Xi will give me a big, fat, hug when I get there in a few weeks. We are working together smartly, and very well!! Doesn’t that beat fighting??? BUT REMEMBER, we are very good at fighting, if we have to - far better than anyone else!!!

On Monday, a DHS employee, Lauren Bullis, was brutally shot and stabbed to death by Olaolukitan Adon Abel, a 26-year-old, born in the United Kingdom, who was naturalized by the Biden Administration in 2022.  Since President Trump took office, @USCIS has implemented measures to ensure individuals with criminal histories and who otherwise lack good moral character do not attain citizenship. He possesses a prior criminal record that includes convictions for sexual battery, battery against a police officer, obstruction, and assault with a deadly weapon, vandalism and now stands accused of murdering @DHSgov employee Lauren Bullis by shooting and stabbing her while she walked her dog. He has also been arrested for the murder of an unidentified woman whom he reportedly shot outside a Checkers, before randomly shooting a homeless man multiple times outside a Kroger in Brookhaven. These acts of pure evil have devastated our Department and my prayers are with the families of the victims.

Presumably if a hacker group have been detected, it hints that more sophisticated state actors might have long had the quiet run of the place. Whatever the case, one cannot help but feel achadenfreude.
UnveiledChina@Unveiled_ChinaX

If this is real, it could be one of the largest data breaches in China’s history. A hacker group claims it extracted over 10 petabytes of data from a state-run supercomputing facility, widely believed by experts to be the National Supercomputing Center in Tianjin. This center supports thousands of clients, including research institutes, aerospace programs, and defense-linked organizations. What’s reportedly in the data: - Documents marked “secret” in Chinese - Missile and bomb schematics - Aerospace and aviation research - Bioinformatics and fusion simulation data - Files linked to major state entities like AVIC and COMAC Cybersecurity experts who reviewed sample data say it matches what you would expect from such a facility, though the full breach is not independently verified. Even more concerning: - The attacker claims access lasted months without detection - Sample datasets were posted online via Telegram - Full access is reportedly being sold for hundreds of thousands of dollars in crypto At this stage, the scale and origin are still being verified. But if even partially true, it points to a serious vulnerability in infrastructure tied to China’s scientific and defense ecosystem. If a centralized system like this can be penetrated, what does that say about the security of the data it was processing? #China #Cybersecurity #CCP #DataBreach #Geopolitics #Tech cnn.com/2026/04/08/chi…

Iran has deployed its Ghadir-class midget submarines in the Persian Gulf and near the Strait of Hormuz. A large number of these submarines have been deployed and given clear instructions that if any enemy ship crosses into Iran’s waters, they should immediately destroy it. These submarines are specifically designed to operate in shallow waters, and the United States has no counter to them.

These people are off-the-rails crazy. NY already bans wrist-brace type slingshots (aka wrist-rockets) and slungshots. Mere possession is a Class A misdemeanor, punishable by up to 1 year in jail and a fine. What next? Scissors, pocket-knives and pointy sticks? I bet a sharp-wit could get you 2 years in jail.

New York is coming after airguns and BB guns now, including the classic Red Ryder. The latest push reclassifies them as “imitation weapons,” requiring bright colors, plugged barrels, and toy-like restrictions that would effectively ban functional models. This goes beyond hunters or sport shooters. Airguns and BB guns are essential training tools for safe, low-cost practice, building skills, safety habits, and confidence before moving to centerfire. This is still incremental infringement at work: start with “safety” rules on low-power guns, then expand the net. Rights erode one “reasonable” step at a time. We train hard with what we have because readiness matters. Restricting practice tools only makes people less safe and less capable. Stay alert on this one, New York. Contact your reps, support legal challenges, and keep training however you can.

UPDATE: No major incidents in the Persian Gulf despite the U.S. Navy blockade. A Chinese-owned oil and chemical tanker that got turned back on Day 1 just successfully passed through the Strait of Hormuz today. President Trump and CENTCOM continue to stress: The entire area is NOT blocked — only Iranian ports and Iranian ships are being targeted. - @MattFinnFNC

🚨 MAKE THIS MAKE SENSE… This is Judge Tracey Lloyd-Clarke, Recorder of Cardiff. She’s just sentenced a British army veteran Daffron Williams, 41 to two years in prison (with half to be served inside) over Facebook posts made after the Southport child murders. This is a man who served in Iraq and Afghanistan. A man dealing with PTSD. The judge even acknowledged his service, his character references, and his mental health… and still sent him to jail for words posted online. One of those posts said “civil war is here” and included anti-Islamic imagery. At the same time, she’s been locking others up too like 24-year-old David Morgan, who got 20 months for offensive tweets. But here’s where it gets hard to ignore… A man called Rees Newman convicted of the historic rape of a girl under 14 stood in front of the same judge for breaching his sex offender conditions… And she suspended his prison sentence. Why? Because prisons are too full. So let’s get this straight. A veteran with PTSD goes to prison over Facebook posts. A convicted child rapist walks free due to overcrowding. How is that justice? 🤔

Democrats sure are putting in a lot of work to discredit a series before it's even started running. That alone should raise a question: why? In January, I was warned directly that if Spotlight continued its investigation into Gov. Wes Moore's military records—and one of his superiors—that his office would send files to every media reporter to try and discredit us.  We saw the same playbook in 2022 when a FOX45 reporter asked why Moore allowed claims that he had received a Bronze Star that he didn't have at the time. His team accused the reporter and media outlet of bias and a smear campaign. Two years later, after the New York Times wrote about the Bronze Star Moore hadn't received, the narrative changed, and the governor said it was "an honest mistake." In an August 2024 statement on his military record, Moore acknowledged he knew before leaving Afghanistan that he had not received the award.  Spotlight's reporting digs deeper into Moore's military records and more, and our investigative series will begin to publish soon. This is standard journalism to scrutinize the words and records of elected officials and candidates who hold positions of power and public trust. Our loyalty is to the Maryland public we serve — not any public official or political party.  Our work has been fair. We've sent hundreds of questions. Most have gone unanswered. We've offered multiple sit-down interviews with the governor and his staff. They have declined repeated requests.  Moore's office hasn't seen a word of this series yet, but the governor and his communications staff are actively campaigning and peddling a narrative to smear it. In fact, his director of media strategy said this week of us, "They don't deserve to be treated like a news outlet and nothing that comes out of Sinclair should be taken seriously." They continued this effort last night in an interview on MSNOW with Jen Psaki, Biden's former press secretary.  The real questions you should be asking right now: Why don't they want you to read the series? What is it they don't want you to know? And if we're so wrong about everything, why not just release the records and prove it? If you want to know more, keep reading The Baltimore Sun, a 200-year-old newspaper that has survived many governors.
The Briefing with Jen Psaki@PsakiBriefing

Maryland Gov. Wes Moore responds to the larger context of the Baltimore Sun's investigation into his military service. Since 2024, the paper's owner is a Trump ally named David Smith, who is the executive chairman of Sinclair Broadcast Group. bsky.app/profile/did:pl…

@JoseRui27556516 @JeffEisenach @allenanalysis I'm pretty solidly MAGA. I'm in favor of deporting anyone who has committed any additional criminal act while they were here. Period, no exceptions. But I've been conflicted about the people who've been here for a long while, and have obeyed all the rules. This works for me.

🚨BREAKING: 20 Republicans and 20 Democrats just co-sponsored the Dignity Act — the first serious bipartisan immigration bill in decades. What it actually does: No amnesty. No citizenship. No handouts. A pathway to legal work status for long-term undocumented immigrants who meet strict requirements — fully funded by restitution payments from immigrants themselves, requiring zero taxpayer dollars. Mike Lawler’s own words: “This is not amnesty. It’s accountability, it’s fairness, it is dignity.”

And there it is. After the media spent most of yesterday and today suggesting Trump was going to nuke or otherwise genocide Iran, CNN is already suggesting Trump will "chicken out" and drops the "TACO" line: WOLF BLITZER: The president is sticking to his very, very tough language right now. Is he painting himself though into a corner? If the Iranians don't accept the concessions that he wants? KIMBERLY DOZIER: This could be a high stakes negotiating tactic to try to get them to blink, but so far they haven't. They've proved consistently that they can take more pain, and they see themselves as gaining in political stature every time they force Trump to bypass one of his deadlines, which we might see tonight. The TACO, Trump always chickens out syndrome. Or we could see as a gulf official I just spoke to was worried about a massive strike against many targets in Iran that then causes Iran to retaliate against the gulf. So far, they've been doing destructive attacks, but they haven't unleashed the full scope of what gulf officials think they could do. PAMELA BROWN: And, Peter, we've seen empty threats before from the president. This seems different, though. And if he doesn't follow through and or doesn't get anything tangible in the negotiations, I mean, what kind of a position would that put the U.S. in this war? PETER BERGEN: Well, actually, I'm reminded in his first term he said he could he could end the Afghan war in a week, but it would kill 10 million people. So, he's made these kind of very grandiose kind of threats before. I mean, in this case, obviously, this, you know, who knows what's going to happen at 8 p.m. tonight? The only person who knows is the commander-in-chief. Um, I presume to if he wants to kind of retain some form of credibility, he's going to have to do something because he's threats have been so over the top. But you know, they could be limited and they could be dressed up as well. The negotiations continue. So the limited strikes and continued negotiations, I mean that wouldn't be surprising. BROWN: Yeah.
