I'm gullible and naive when it comes to Twitter. I assume people are who they say they are, believe what they say they believe, and argue their viewpoint in good faith. Sadly I know this is probably the exception not the rule.

I remain overly cautious with jumping to conclusions on FSD behavior changes on HW3 when the version number (v12.6.4) hasn’t changed. For me, it takes several days of driving to weigh in on it, and it’s hard to prove changes other than saying it “feels” different. Some people are so confident that it’s changed w/ the latest base OS update to 2026.8.6. Others, seemingly a minority, argue that it hasn’t changed. What gives? This may be a bad comparison, but it’s kind of like the flat earthers… They’re so convinced the Earth is flat that nothing will change their mind, no matter what! The only thing we really have to look at are the sizes of the Autopilot Bank A & B and Trip Weights, and these sizes have been changing. Based on my personal review, 2026.8.6 *feels more cautious (some are calling it phantom braking) on city streets and it *seems to be changing lanes slightly differently. It also *seems to be more responsive to stuff happening next to the road. For example, my car moved over slightly for a person mowing the grass really close to the curb as it was slowing down near an intersection. It may have done that before, I don’t know. But it *felt new. My point is that we can’t jump to conclusions so quickly and I really wish that @Tesla @Tesla_AI @tesla_na @aelluswamy @yunta_tsai @elonmusk would comment here…

@DirtyTesLa I choose my HW3 car over HW4 for this exact reason. When HW4 doesn’t correctly recognize the speed limit, it’s not possible to have it on and drive a safe/legal speed. How this got around @NHTSAgov is beyond me.

the thing that's making me nervous is the fact that they already said it was implemented. it's smart, they're using basically every conceivable input that they have from the entire system to try and do something that they could have done with a $10 sensor. this is part of what I dislike about Tesla, they could have just kept the sensor for long enough to then be able to determine the right way to do this. instead they removed the sensor thinking it would be easy to replace, and then spent like the next 10 years trying to replace it. I would not be surprised if they spent more money trying to replace the part than it would have cost to just have the part to begin with. or at least have the part for an additional few years so that you have a ground truth to train something on.

FSD v12.6.4 for HW3 keeps the same displayed version because it labels the core end-to-end neural net architecture and software stack. Tesla pushes silent updates to the actual model weights (trained parameters) in base OS releases like 2026.8.6—evident from shifting Autopilot Bank A/B and Trip Weight file sizes. This evolves behavior (e.g., more cautious city streets, better side-road awareness) while staying compatible, without relabeling the version. The probabilistic nature still applies too.

@JonBbC_TechGeek It's the same neural net software model doing the self-driving. Only item that may have changed is the map data. Also keep in mind that the model is probabilistic so slightly different input as it drives down the exact same road might lead to different behavior.

There's an interplay between the map data and FSD and that indeed does change the behavior. Also want see some behavior changes clean your cameras and do camera calibration. The recent time change meant the sun in a slightly different angle on my daily commute. Different behavior. Lots of items can change the behavior. Frankly what I like about FSD v12.6.4 is that it is consistent and predictable on my daily commute. It misses the speed limit sign in a construction zone, no problem I easily scroll the max speed down. I want to get out of the left lane I hit the blinker. I've pretty much gotten used to how it drives my commute and with just a little bit of the right timed supervision it drives it pretty much as good as I would.

Not so sure on this one my friend. Respectfully, @teslascope and other reputable community members like @greentheonly have documented tangible differences even when the FSD version doesn’t change. I can’t verify one way or another so I try to keep my speculation more to myself these days.

Question: how is @Tesla FSD determining speed limits? Is it map based or camera based seeing signs? If vision why does it think it’s 35mph in this stretch after passing 4 signs showing 55mph? I had to push accelerator to get up to speed as I was annoying people behind me.

@alz_zyd_ I agree with half of that statement. China may have won that race in 10 years.

We just had to put our dog down. About the same age and size. Heart condition and untreatable lung cancer. Massive pain meds helped for just a little while but it was clear time was running out. One morning my wife said "I made the appointment for 4pm today." A good vet will make it easy on you as they can but like you say "hard is an understatement"

Our sweet Minnie seems to be nearing the end of the road. She’s almost 16 and was diagnosed with congestive heart failure two years ago. For the last few weeks there has been a major overall shift, she’s now extremely run down at all times, doesn’t want to eat, refuses her meds. Forcing food and medication is absolutely miserable for her and for us. If anyone has any guidance on what we should do, it would be appreciated. She’s been to the vet, we have consulted her specialists as well, nothing has really changed medically. It’s like old age hit her all at once. She has her good moments and still seems engaged and at times happy, but overall the decline is significant. For anyone that has followed @jeremyjudkins_ for long, they know Minnie is the light of his life so to say this is hard is an understatement.

@DTrickel1 @KentuckyToc @AndyZeGerman @RJScaringe It's pretty simple for Rivian their own insurance is paying book value and they just have to come up with the difference. He was asked to pick from their own inventory. It's orders of magnitude less than $10 million dollars plus the damage was no way due to customer actions.

I know this is a Tesla Owners account, but I'm posting this on X on behalf of a fellow Tesla and Rivian owner. It's a lengthy one, but I would appreciate if everyone would repost to get some traction on this. On Feb 13, 2026, I took my pristine 2023 R1T to the Shepherdsville, KY service center for a tow bolt recall. During the service, the truck fell off the lift, causing over $32K in damage. At first, @Rivian did the right thing. The regional service manager called and promised to replace my truck with a new one "for my betterment, not to my detriment." I spent the next few days sending over inventory specs I liked. Then, Risk Management stepped in. They reversed the decision and said they would only repair it. I refused due to diminished value and safety concerns. The truck was ultimately deemed a total loss by Rivian’s insurance, but the payout does not cover the cost of a replacement. I have reached out to the executive team and the Governance Board via signed FedEx letters. I have received zero response. I’m a long-time EV advocate (coming from a Tesla) and have an R2 reservation on file. I loved driving my truck, but Rivian caused this damage and needs to stand by their initial promise to make me whole. @RJScaringe @ElectrekCo @FredLambert @InsideEVs @SawyerMerritt @klwtts @Hilbe @itskyleconner @TravisKetchum @rivian_forums @RivianUpdates @RivianTrackr @omg_tesla @SP_LimitReviews @RivianClubs @alanisnking @Mikekantorski

Tough uphill battle. Would have to prove the “person” who “told him over the phone” did in fact say that. And 2 had the authority to make such decision for the company. Publix is t on the hook to pay out a slip and fall claim for $10 million because the check out girl said they would.
