From 2018-2021 at St. John’s in Houston, Woke Wesley worked to add woke nonsense to the curriculum of a prestigious Houston high school and helped to institute racist hiring practices. Once again @WesleyHuntTX shows he’s fake MAGA and Texans cannot trust him. #txsen

EXPLOSIVE report from @DailyCaller: @WesleyHuntTX served on the Board of Directors of Prestigious St. John's Private School in Houston as it Made Racial, Gender Ideology 'Foundational' dailycaller.com/2025/12/04/ant… Anti-DEI Republican Helped Make Racial, Gender Ideology ‘Foundational’ At Prestigious School Jaryn Crouson Education Reporter The Daily Caller December 04, 2025 4:56 PM ET Republican Texas Rep. Wesley Hunt served on the Board of Trustees at a prestigious K-12 school while it made diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) “foundational” to its policies and curriculum. The outspoken DEI critic sat on the board of St. John’s School (SJS) in Houston, Texas from 2018 to 2021, according to tax filings and archived school webpages. During this time, the school implemented a “Strategic Plan for Community and Inclusion,” boasted racially discriminatory recruiting practices, and held a “Banned Book Week” that included titles exploring gender ideology. The board in 2018 unanimously passed a “Statement on Community and Inclusion” — a vote that, by definition, includes every trustee’s agreement — promising to “Incorporate cultural proficiency, diversity, global awareness, and inclusivity into all facets of the K-12 curricula and co-curricular activities.” Hunt, an alumnus of the elite private school, was placed on the board’s Task Force on Community and Inclusion, which was charged with monitoring “the progress and implementation” of the board’s “Community and Inclusion” plan. One of the overarching goals of the plan is to “recruit, retain, and develop a diverse community” by realigning staff, targeting “underrepresented populations” and including “diversity, inclusion and multicultural competency in … interview hiring questions.” The plan also included intentions to expand “social and emotional learning programs/curriculum,” and mentioned phrases such as “cultural competency” and “alumni of color.” Around the same time, the school boasted it was working to redesign middle school civics and English curriculum to include “antiracist and cultural relevancy with diverse text and literature.” In 2020, the school hosted three forums for over 90 faculty and staff titled “Why is Saying ‘All Lives Matter’ Offensive,” “The Difference Between Nonracist and Antiracist” and “Institutional and Systemic Racism.” Nearly 100 staff participated in two additional forums meant to “acknowledge, process, and grieve the killing of George Floyd, police brutality, and racism in the U.S.” Hunt’s office and SJS did not respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment. SJS’s “Banned Book Week” hosted in September 2018 reportedly “highlighted offerings about gender identity, LGBTQ issues and sex education,” according to The Washington Post. In the 2019 to 2020 school year, SJS’s faculty reading list included titles such as Blind Spot, Born a Crime, White Fragility, and others that were obsessively focused on race, many villainizing all white people as unconsciously racist. Meanwhile, in its 2020 report highlighting the achievements of the diversity plan, the school listed the percentages of all its nonwhite students and staff. Several affinity groups were maintained at the school as of 2020, including those for “Faculty of Color” and “LGBT faculty.” The congressman has been highly critical of DEI, arguing that such policies are “discriminatory” and that the focus should be on merit over race. Hunt celebrated the University of Texas for abolishing its DEI departments in 2024, saying DEI was the cause of rising antisemitism and attack on First Amendment rights. Hunt is currently challenging Republican Sen. John Cornyn’s reelection bid, shaking up the already heated primary with Republican Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton. Cornyn’s campaign has accused Paxton of helping the state fund leftist nonprofit groups that support immigration and LGBT advocacy. #txsen @JohnCornyn @NRSC @TeamCornyn

@CenterPoint is replacing gas lines in our neighborhood and accidentally broke our water line. They turned our water off and left. We’ve now been without water for 24 hrs and @CenterPoint_TX says it’s not their problem.

Thanks to the #SchumerShutdown, federal employees will miss their paychecks. While 1 in 6 Americans lives paycheck to paycheck & it may not be a big deal to wealthy Senate Democrats, it does matter to many Americans who may not be able to pay their rent or put food on the table for their families.

This was one of the hardest votes I have taken during my time in the Senate.   My goal throughout the reconciliation process has been to make a bad bill better for Alaska, and in many ways, we have done that. In addition to extending pro-growth tax cuts, a larger child tax credit, and no tax on tips or overtime, we made a historic investment and modernization of the Coast Guard; enhanced our border security and national defense; funded aviation safety, including AWOS/VWOS systems that will save lives; and provided tax-exempt status for the Community Development Quota Program to help western Alaska communities establish a sustainable economy, among other provisions.   We have advanced new opportunities for resource development in the NPR-A, the Coastal Plain, and Cook Inlet that will help us create jobs and increase the share of revenues our state receives. I also co-led the Senate effort to restore a slightly longer phase-out for wind and solar tax credits while deleting a punitive excise tax targeting them.   Those provisions will benefit our economy, but it is the people of Alaska that I worry about the most, especially when it comes to the potential loss of social safety net programs—Medicaid coverage and SNAP benefits—that our most vulnerable populations rely on.   To address the bill’s shortcomings, we have helped our communities through a $50 billion rural health fund. This will mean hundreds of millions of dollars for Alaska hospitals, community health centers, and other providers. We secured commitments from the CMS Administrator to continue to address longstanding priorities which will directly help Bartlett, Fairbanks Memorial, Central Peninsula, and other hospitals in Alaska.   In the SNAP program, we have added tribal exemptions for work requirements, delayed cost-share penalties to help Alaska get benefits to the people who need them, and included work requirement waivers that align with our Medicaid policies. We also secured commitments from the Secretary of Agriculture to provide additional flexibilities to Alaska for SNAP.   But, let’s not kid ourselves. This has been an awful process—a frantic rush to meet an artificial deadline that has tested every limit of this institution. While we have worked to improve the present bill for Alaska, it is not good enough for the rest of our nation—and we all know it.   My sincere hope is that this is not the final product. This bill needs more work across chambers and is not ready for the President’s desk. We need to work together to get this right.

As residents continue to recover from hurricane Beryl and widespread power outages in our area, we are aware many of you are using generators. Today the @HCFMO sent out an emergency alert to warn about carbon monoxide poisoning from generator exhaust. Carbon monoxide gas is invisible, has no odor, and can KILL a person in minutes. We want to offer CRITICAL information on generator safety. NEVER bring a generator indoors and remember these safety tips: • Keep generators dry • Never overload your generator • Follow manufacturer operating instructions
