And here's 2000 words on Tiramisu, Meta's prototype that combines beyond-retinal resolution, high brightness, and high contrast, albeit with a narrow field of view. It's the most realistic image I've ever seen. And I don't just mean in VR - I mean from a display of any kind.

Apple and Meta are still missing the point when it comes to spatial productivity. Going monitor-free or showing the weather in 3d space isn't enough. There's not enough value in replacing a frictionless setup like a laptop and mouse unless the spatial environment unlocks something radically more powerful: a creative work space so fluid and enabling that you wouldn't want to work any other way. I created this "Spatial AI Workbench" mockup a while ago to explore that exact idea.

This was done for @modelviewer 🤓 We were aiming to be identical to @google's GLTF viewer for @Android but they were using a 3MB HDR file as IBL and that was way too big to bundle in the lib. However, I thought the HDR they were using could be generated at load time so decided to give it a go... Ended up "reverse engineering" the scene, then we render it to a cube map and blur it with dirty mipmap tricks... all in just a few milliseconds and in 1KB.

#threejsbits Did you know #threejs has built-in environment lighting setups — with _no_ HDR/EXR files needed? Normally you’d need heavy HDR textures, but for prototyping or debugging these are perfect. ⬇️

No legs in VR? No problem. You can just paint them over with the @Logitech MX Ink Tracing physical objects in VR with a pen is oddly satisfying. Bring something physical into the virtual world that you can touch. You can try yourself in the @Meta browser in aframe-logitech-mx-ink.glitch.me @aframevr
