I have been writing code for over 15 years and have worked with relatively complex distributed systems. These are my own experiences comparing the web3 world to traditional software engineering 🧵

To my dear son 𝐒𝐚𝐦𝐢 𝐇𝐚𝐦𝐝𝐢, Your mom & I are so proud of you. I am happy to report that most 𝐝𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐀𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚, 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐔𝐊, & 𝐚𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐲𝐨𝐮. Your courage & moral clarity inspire countless people. Also, your team Arsenal won again this weekend & looks set to claim the title this year! Those celebrating your suffering are mainly from the “Israel First” camp, the deniers of the Gaza genocide, and those who try to justify the killing of thousands of innocent Palestinian children and women by the IDF as “legitimate self-defence.” Do not give up on humanity—or on America—and never forget what you wrote in your pinned tweet: “𝐈 𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐯𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐡𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐠𝐨𝐨𝐝𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞.” Stay strong, stay kind, and know that love and justice will always find their way. May God bless and protect you. @AOC @IlhanMN @GregCasar @KenRoth @RashidaTlaib @BarackObama @MichelleObama @TuckerCarlson @RepMTG @RepPressley @GaryLineker @HumzaYousaf @SayeedaWarsi @Byoussef @mrjamesob @EdwardJDavey @JohnSwinney @ggreenwald @GretaThunberg @CornelWest @Trevornoah @jimmykimmel @IlhanMN @Oprah @amanpour @NicRobertsonCNN @CreanRosabel @Villgecrazylady @shaunking @DropSiteNews @owenjonesjourno @abierkhatib @Bob_cart124 @IanCarrollShow @YousefMunayyer @ishaantharoor @MouinRabbani @sarahleah1 @History__Speaks @LibyaLiberty @sethmoulton @DominicWaghorn @MazMHussain @MahaGaza @AssalRad @CharlottEngland @yashar @dylanotes @ryangrim

Last chance to sign up for our free lightning lesson tomorrow, @sh_reya and I are gonna teach people how to look at data from AI products! We'll also be live coding an annotation app 😀 You will have access to recording if you sign up maven.com/p/0c0359/error…

@sh_reya Agreed. I'm finding NL to SQL significantly better for both accuracy and relevance Ofcourse it's significantly harder than tradtionaly RAG especially in large orgs with TBs of data with datasets and relationships aren't well defined

Embedding retrieval based on cosine similarity does not necessarily find task-specific context/prerequisite knowledge that the LLM must logically compose together to give a correct answer. Case in point: NL to SQL can be much more effective than any SQL-less retrieval strategy

This is the most practical AI agents paper I have read to date. I agree with almost all of it. I think challenge X4 (which past interactions should the AI consider) uniquely arises from poor AI systems design—AIs don’t have the same correlations or associations that humans do, so why would humans be able to craft the exact historical/relevant context for the AI well? System prompts should permit anything and everything and determine what is relevant to the task
Gagan Bansal@bansalg_

☀️Excited to share our new paper! Generative AI agents are powerful but complex—how do we design them for transparency and human control? 🤖✨ At the heart of this challenge is establishing common ground, a concept from human communication. Our new paper identifies 12 key challenges in improving common ground between humans and AI agents. 1/

what makes LLM frameworks feel unusable is that there's still so much burden for the user to figure out the bespoke amalgamation of LLM calls to ensure end-to-end accuracy. in docetl.org, we've found that relying on an agent to do this requires lots of scaffolding

Is it antisemitic to ask if innocent Palestinian lives are worth less than innocent Israeli lives?

@bkchr @rphmeier @gakonst I always thought it was a silly metric, one that @shawntabrizi rightly criticises. A super computer node will run significantly faster than my laptop. I would say that the more accessible a network is to run the more likely we get more participants and a greater network effect

@rphmeier @gakonst TPS is such an easy gameable number that depends so much on the used transaction that you can not really use it to compare different kind of systems.

sometimes wonder how people say 10k or 1m tps with a straight face, what did you bench on? transfers in a testbed with 10-100 boxes peered directly on datacenter hardware with all state hot in memory?? bruh
