@Magister_Mondo @MLJHaynes @LPJerusalem @grok Same reason the wailing wall is closed to jews. And the temple mount to muslims. So they don't get blown up by Iranians. The decision was made by those who hold life to be most sacred, and for that reason alone. To imply otherwise, as the article does, is simply dishonest.

JUST IN: Israeli Police prevented Cardinal Pizzaballa from entering the Church of the Holy Sepulchre today, as he went to say Mass. @LPJerusalem calls it a “grave precedent” which “constitutes a manifestly unreasonable and grossly disproportionate measure.” Full statement from @LPJerusalem below —— Joint Press Release The Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem and the Custody of the Holy Land Holy City of Jerusalem Palm Sunday, 29 March 2026 This morning, the Israeli Police prevented the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, His Beatitude Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, Head of the Catholic Church in the Holy Land, together with the Custos of the Holy Land, the Most Reverend Fr. Francesco Ielpo, OFM, the official Guardian of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, from entering the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem, as they made their way to celebrate the Palm Sunday Mass. The two were stopped en route, while proceeding privately and without any characteristics of a procession or ceremonial act, and were compelled to turn back. As a result, and for the first time in centuries, the Heads of the Church were prevented from celebrating the Palm Sunday Mass at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. This incident is a grave precedent, and disregard the sensibilities of billions of people around the world who, during this week, look to Jerusalem. The Heads of the Churches have acted with full responsibility and, since the outset of the war, have complied with all imposed restrictions: public gatherings were cancelled, attendance was prohibited, and arrangements were made to broadcast the celebrations to hundreds of millions of faithful worldwide, who, during these days of Easter, turn their eyes to Jerusalem and to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Preventing the entry of the Cardinal and the Custos, who bear the highest ecclesiastical responsibility for the Catholic Church and the Holy Places, constitutes a manifestly unreasonable and grossly disproportionate measure. This hasty and fundamentally flawed decision, tainted by improper considerations, represents an extreme departure from basic principles of reasonableness, freedom of worship, and respect for the Status Quo. The Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem and the Custody of the Holy Land express their profound sorrow to the Christian faithful in the Holy Land and throughout the world that prayer on one of the most sacred days of the Christian calendar has thus been prevented.

US military aid to Israel works via Foreign Military Financing (FMF) grants—not direct cash. Israel spends it on US-made weapons, services & equipment through Foreign Military Sales or direct contracts with American firms (e.g., F-35s, munitions, helicopters). Per the 2016-2028 MOU (State Dept/CRS): $3.8B/year base ($3.3B FMF + $500M joint missile defense like Iron Dome co-development). Funds disbursed early; interest benefits Israel. Offshore procurement (Israeli buys) phases to zero by 2028. Total since 1948: ~$130-174B (mostly military now). Benefits America: Boosts US defense jobs/companies (20k+ direct per some estimates), advances shared tech (US Army uses Iron Dome elements), intelligence on Iran/terrorism, Mideast stability without US troops, & legal Qualitative Military Edge policy. Post-Oct 2023: +$16-21B supplemental deliveries. Sources: State.gov, CFR, CRS reports.

🚨BREAKING: TRUMP Just Set The PERFECT TRAP — And DEMOCRATS Walked Right Into It 🫣 Tonight in the State of the Union, President Trump dropped a masterclass in political chess. He looked every single member of Congress in the eye and said: “So tonight I’m inviting every legislator to join with my administration and reaffirm a fundamental principle. If you agree with this statement and stand up and show your support — the first duty of the American government is to protect American citizens, not illegal aliens.” He knew exactly what he was doing. The Democrats — who’ve spent weeks screaming about “dictator” Trump — stayed glued to their seats. Not one stood. Not one clapped. Not one had the guts to publicly choose Americans first. And now the viral clip ready clip is already exploding: Democrats just proved, on national television, that they will not stand for American citizens over illegal aliens. This is political spin. This is a Psyop. This is them Yhis is Trump manufacturing a poliotical attack. The internet is about to eat them alive. Drop 🔥 if you saw the trap RT this everywhere — let every American see what just happened

Today, I’m releasing the City’s preliminary budget. After years of fiscal mismanagement, we’re staring at a $5.4 billion budget gap — and two paths. One: Albany can raise taxes on the ultra-wealthy and the most profitable corporations and address the fiscal imbalance between our city and state. The other, a last resort: balance the budget on the backs of working people using the only tools at the City's disposal.   The first path matches a structural crisis with a sustainable and fair solution. I know where I stand. New Yorkers voted for bold change and competent leadership. We will deliver both, and we look forward to partnering with Albany to protect working New Yorkers.

@mattforney @GovSherrillNJ please take note. @mattforney makes a great point-taxpayers, aka passanger matter more than unions. Perhaps stop the political theater around a tunnel thats 11 years from use and focus on the current issues that your residents care most about.

In other words, despite warning commuters for the past MONTH that we had to start taking PATH or ferries because of the schedule changes, you were completely unprepared to actually implement said schedule changes. A serious government would fire everyone at NJ Transit.

@NJTransit_CA @RDeChiaro12 Why not work with government who can then address the corporate side? Your myopic view of reality, clearly skewed by the unions, is laughable at best. But sure keep raising rates and reducing reliability. Keep making demands of passanger while holding your employees to none

@RDeChiaro12 That’s not the intent, Rob. I’m just trying to set expectations and acknowledge that a very rough service disruption is ahead — there’s no way around it.

🚨 Tomorrow will be the first rush hour under the Portal Cutover weekday schedule. The first week of any schedule change brings operational challenges. With a service shift of this scale, expect longer waits and heavy crowding — especially during the first few days and even if there are no cancellations. Seriously consider working from home or traveling outside peak hours. I’ll be at Hoboken Terminal between 6–9 AM and 5–7 PM tomorrow, and at New York Penn later this week.
NJ TRANSIT@NJTRANSIT

Tomorrow, 2/17, Portal Cutover weekday schedules will be in effect. M&E and MOBO trains to NYC will be diverted to Hoboken with cross-honoring options from Hoboken to NYC. Details at njtransit.com/portalcutover

@GovSherrillNJ Stop with the theatrical political finger pointing and union pandering, it's embarrassingly pathetic. Instead, look at NJT itself. Maybe invite @DOGE and show the voters you actually care and will work across the aisle rather than resorting to juvenile finger pointing.

There’s no reason for delays like this to happen and for commuters to keep suffering.

This could have been fixed years ago, if the ARC Tunnel had been built.

President Trump needs to stop playing games and let us build the Gateway Tunnel.

I’m closely monitoring the delays to rail service this morning along the Northeast Corridor. @NJTRANSIT is working with @Amtrak to get this resolved as quickly and safely as possible. These delays are unacceptable, and yet another reason why I’m fighting for the Gateway Tunnel.

There seems to be some confusion about the SAVE America Act. If it becomes law, you will NOT be able to vote with your drivers license alone. You’d need: 1. A passport, which more than half of Americans don’t have and costs at least $130 OR 2. A birth certificate PLUS your photo ID with matching names, which nearly 70 million married women lack OR 3. Military services papers (not a military ID alone) with sensitive info. I’m voting NO.

@SenatorAndyKim Is it not union workers responsible for the maintenence of the current infrastructure? If so, their feet should be held to the fire for every single delay of now than 3 minutes.
