@Rackspace Is rackspace refunding hosted exchange users for the all of December? We got charged yesterday, for what? There’s no email, there’s no backups, there’s no service. It’s insult to injury. The least you could do is refund customers to offset migration costs before RXT hits 0.

UPDATE: Since becoming aware of suspicious activity in our Hosted Exchange environment on 12/2, we’ve determined that the isolated disruption is the result of ransomware and our security team is working with a lead cyber defense firm to investigate. Status:bit.ly/3ui4CGk

@Rackspace I would have one year worth of emails on my computer's Outlook (without needing to pull from the server). But now they're gone once I switched to the new server. I'm assuming they're still somewhere on my computer and retrievable via Outlook, but not sure.

@SquirtMcguirty @SAReport Exactly. I’m not going to sugarcoat it: ransomware can be a business-ending calamity. Hosted Exchange represents $30mil of @Rackspace’s $3bil in annual revenue. They will live on. Their customers on Hosted Exchange, may not.

I'd bet money on them getting ransomware'd via unpatched exch vuln. I've heard similar things about their datacenters running a lot of old EOL'd hardware

@BreachAware @KevinBeaumont @BnkInfoSecurity They are 100% running outdated servers. Here’s a list of the Exchange server types that RAX has maintained over the years. They decommed Exchange 2007 at some point but most of the customers I have been fixing in the last week have all been on Exchange 2013 mail servers

@red_shoulders @sh_ftr @Rackspace I'm in the same boat, with a handful of exchange accounts. I can't deal with a migration and moving all accounts and devices. Hopefully the forwarding works (and is completed soon) and this pares down the inbox!!! Thank god for the archiving

@sh_ftr @Rackspace That is exactly the problem. Maybe an even bigger probe is seeing the non support rackspace is actually giving their customers. I'm thinking that Rackspace does not intend to bring their Exchange back online and are willing to suffer the hit which will take us all with them.
