URGENT APPEAL TO THE GOVERNMENT OF INDIA, CENTRAL SECURITY FORCES, COBRA TEAM, AND THE GOVERNMENT OF MANIPUR We urgently appeal to the Government of India, the Government of Manipur, Central Security Forces, and the COBRA Team to immediately restore free movement along the National Highway between Senapati District and Kangpokpi District. The ongoing blockade, allegedly enforced by NSCN-IM, ZUF (Kamson Group), Shan National Army elements, and supported by the United Naga Council, has severely disrupted the transportation of essential commodities, including food grains, medicines, fuel, and other daily necessities. As a result, the people of Kangpokpi District, including the Kuki community and other communities residing in the district, are facing immense hardship. Prices of essential goods have increased sharply, medical supplies are becoming scarce, and ordinary citizens are struggling to meet their daily needs. Women, children, the elderly, patients, students, and daily wage earners are bearing the heaviest burden of this prolonged blockade. National Highways are public lifelines meant for all citizens and must not be obstructed under any circumstance. The continued disruption of the free movement of essential goods is creating a humanitarian concern that requires immediate attention from the authorities. We therefore make an emergency request to the Government of India, the Government of Manipur, Central Security Forces, and the COBRA Team to take urgent and effective measures to ensure the safe movement of vehicles carrying food, medicines, fuel, and other essential commodities, and to restore normalcy on the National Highway without further delay. The people of Kangpokpi District cannot continue to suffer under these conditions. Immediate intervention is necessary to protect the welfare, livelihood, and basic rights of all affected citizens. The Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) has submitted a memorandum to the Hon'ble Prime Minister of India seeking urgent intervention in view of the deteriorating security situation affecting the Kuki-Zo people in Manipur. The memorandum highlights the killing of innocent civilians, the destruction and burning of 11 Kuki villages, and the loss of 14 Kuki-Zo lives in recent incidents. It expresses deep concern over the continued insecurity, displacement, and fear faced by Kuki-Zo communities. Among its key demands, KIM calls for an immediate and impartial judicial inquiry into the alleged extrajudicial killing of Mr. Lenminsang Haokip at Songkong Village on 16 June 2026, along with legal action against all those found responsible. The memorandum further urges the Government of India to review the ceasefire arrangement with NSCN-IM and take strict action against any armed groups or affiliated elements involved in violence, intimidation, attacks on civilians, or threats to public safety. KIM also demands justice for the 14 Kuki-Zo civilians who lost their lives, a time-bound investigation into the destruction of 11 Kuki villages, compensation and rehabilitation for affected families, and the prosecution of all perpetrators. The organization calls for the immediate deployment of adequate and neutral Central Security Forces in vulnerable Kuki-Zo areas to ensure the protection of innocent civilians, including women, children, students, farmers, and displaced persons. In addition, KIM seeks transparent and time-bound reports on all ongoing investigations and urges the Government of India to expedite a political settlement that guarantees the safety, dignity, constitutional rights, and long-term security of the Kuki-Zo people. #Manipur Security forces arrested eight militants from two factions of a banned outfit in Manipur for alleged extortion and supplying arms and explosives. Four members of KCP (Peoples' War Group) were held in Imphal East for allegedly supplying hand grenades, while four members of KCP (MFL) were arrested in Kakching district for extortion and arms supply. Chief Minister Y Khemchand Singh recently said peace remains unlikely until all illegal weapons in the state are surrendered. The Kuki Community demands that Cobra Team, Central Forces, and the higher authorities immediately conduct operations in Ukhrul District and Kamjong District, particularly in Tangkhul-dominated areas, where there are allegations of the presence of NSCN-IM, NSCN Eastern Flank, Myanmar Meitei militants, Shan National Army, and junta-linked militants crossing the border through these areas under the protection of Tangkhul CSOs and Tangkhul pastors. The Kuki Community appeals to the authorities to focus on all security threats instead of targeting one particular community, especially the Kuki Community. JOINT CONDEMNATION STATEMENT Leimata, 18 June 2026 The Joint Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) of Leimata Area strongly condemn the reckless gunfire allegedly carried out by NSCN-IM militants from Nungsai-I (Chingkao) targeting innocent Kuki villagers who were proceeding to their fields and farms. In this unfortunate incident, Mr. Nohjang Haokip of Joujangtek Village, Noney District, sustained bullet injuries while engaged in his daily livelihood activities.
