Naval Kishore Ram has said that none of the 1,000 construction sites surveyed by the Pune Municipal Corporation were following the required rules. According to him, there are 13 guidelines meant to reduce air and noise pollution at construction sites, but not a single site was fully following them. The commissioner said PMC will not stop all construction in the city, but it will become much stricter while giving permissions. He also warned that construction in the 23 newly merged villages may be stopped if basic facilities such as roads, drainage and water supply are not ready. At present, only seven of those villages have proper water supply projects. He pointed out that areas like Mohammadwadi and Undhri have been facing water shortages for years because construction was allowed before civic infrastructure was ready. He also said Pune is becoming too heavily concretised and that open amenity spaces in large projects should be converted into gardens and green areas instead of more buildings. PMC has already limited construction work timings to between 7 am and 9 pm and says stricter enforcement will follow in the coming months.

In a major crackdown, the Maharashtra government has sent 15 revenue officials on compulsory leave after serious irregularities were found in land record cases in Pune. The action comes after an inquiry revealed misuse of powers under Section 155 of the Maharashtra Land Revenue Code, which is meant only for correcting minor errors in land records. Officials allegedly used this provision to make illegal changes in land ownership, classification, and area details. The 15 officials include deputy collectors, tehsildars, and other revenue staff, with most of them posted in Pune district. The probe, led by a special committee, examined thousands of cases and found several serious violations. धन्यवाद @Dev_Fadnavis जी, @cbawankule जी 🙏🏻 काही सरकारी अधिकाऱ्यांनी सरकारी कार्यालयातून सातबारावरील जमिनीचा वर्ग, क्षेत्रफळ आणि मालकी हक्कात फेरफार करण्याचे गैरप्रकार सुरू केले होते. यामुळे सर्वसामान्यांना होणारा त्रास भयंकर होता; अनेकांना कायदेशीर, आर्थिक आणि मानसिक स्तरावर इतका मनस्ताप व्हायचा की जीव नकोसा व्हायचा. मात्र, सरकारने याची गंभीर दखल घेऊन चौकशीचे आदेश दिले. या चौकशीत अनेक अधिकारी दोषी आढळले असून, काल त्यातील महसूल विभागातील १५ अधिकाऱ्यांना सक्तीच्या रजेवर पाठवण्यात आले आहे. कलम १५५ चा गैरवापर करून फेरफार केल्याप्रकरणी ही कारवाई करण्यात आली असून, पहिल्या टप्प्यात १५ अधिकाऱ्यांवर बडगा उगारण्यात आला आहे. कधीकाळी अशाच अधिकाऱ्यांकडून सरकार पोसले जात असे काँग्रेसच्या काळात तर हा अलिखित नियमच असायचा. ज्यावर राजीव गांधी म्हणायचे की आम्ही वरून एक रुपया पाठवला की जनतेपर्यंत त्यातील फक्त 15 पैसे पोहचतात...
