#Save Me: A Cry Against Oppression in Bangladesh. I am a Bangladeshi citizen and I am feeling very insecure as I am writing against the misrule and militancy of the Yunus government. I have changed my location 12 times in the last 15 days. The cops continue to seek information regarding my location. My crime is only one – to speak the truth against the tyranny and the militancy of Bangladesh. This is not only my struggle; this is the struggle of the people of Bangladesh and of all those who are standing against dictatorship, misrule, and human rights violations. Freedom of speech, human rights, and democracy are all under serious threat in Bangladesh. I appeal to the international community to raise your voice to stop this oppression and stand with us. #SaveBangladesh #StandWithBangladesh #HumanRightsUnderAttack #BangladeshCrisis @amnestysasia @meeganguly @hrw @PearsonElaine @ESandersFCDO @StateDRL @DRL_AS @State_SCA @RFKHumanRights @fidh_en @forum_asia @FortifyRights @BonaveroIHR @UNHumanRights @HRF @volker_turk @omctorg @KerryKennedyRFK @OHCHRAsia @FCDOHumanRights @EURightsAgency @humanrightsasia @DKAmbBD @SwedeninBD @NorwayAmbBD @GerAmbBD @IBAHRI @Ginitastar @SRjudgeslawyers @Irenekhan @AFP @TheDavidBergman @SSabihaAlam @Sabir59 @MujMash @HannahEP @CordeliaSkyNews @JonathanEmont @cnni @anbarasanethi @suhasinih @meghnabali @b_parkyn @AP @ReutersAsia @SavageSusannah @JohnReedwrites @ABC

The horrific picture of rape and abuse of women and children in Bangladesh: Child rape increased by 75% under the Yunus government. Violence against women and children has increased dramatically under Yunus's rule. The rape rate has increased by about 75% in the last year. Women in Bangladesh today are not safe even in their own homes due to a lack of justice, inaction of the law enforcement agencies, and social degradation. A desperate father in Dhaka said his young daughter was raped by a man in Daylight. The child is currently undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital. I work in a hotel and my Wife works at people's homes. The girl was alone at home. At this point, the bad guy of the area destroyed my girl's life. Read: thedailystar.net/news/banglades… This is not an isolated incident. According to the Human Rights Support Society (HRSS), 663 women and children were raped in the country from January to September this year. Of these, 397 are children. More than 73 incidents of rapes occur every month. According to the police headquarters, 1,440 cases were registered in January, 1,430 in February, 2,054 in March, 2,089 in April, 2,087 in May, 1,933 in June, 2,097 in July, and 1,904 in August. In eight months, a total of 15,034 cases related to violence against women and children were filed. Recently, a student of Comilla University was killed after being raped. In the same month, a mentally unstable woman was allegedly picked up and raped in Chandpur. A theatre worker was gang-raped at a resort in Gazipur. Read: kalerkantho.com/print-edition/… Dhaka University crime analyst, Md. Touhidul Haque said crimes are increasing due to the lack of speedy trials in rape cases. Negligence in investigation and delay in trial are emboldening the rapists. According to the Ain o Salish Kendra(ASK), 527 rape cases were reported in the first eight months of this year. Of these, 266 are children. After the rape, 26 people were killed, and 6 committed suicide. There are 435 cases. According to the Women's Council, 223 women and girls were abused in August. Of these, 115 were victims of rape and murder. According to the Human Rights Culture Foundation, 47 rape cases in August increased to 53 in September. Of these, 13 were gang rapes and 3 were murders after rape. The successive incidents of rape, murder, and suicide prove that Bangladesh has become extremely unsafe for women and children due to the failure of the Yunus government. There is fear and panic in society. If immediate action is not taken, the situation will worsen. Every woman in Bangladesh has the right to a life free from fear, violence, and injustice. #BangladeshCrisis #StopRape #SaveChildren #SaveWomen

Impunity for “July Criminals” in #Yunus’s #Bangladesh Criminals appear to enjoy complete #impunity under the Interim Govt of Muhammad Yunus- as long as their crimes target individuals linked, directly or indirectly, to the #AwamiLeague. On Oct 1, 2025, the residence of former MP Nur Uddin Chowdhury Noyon (Laxmipur-2 constituency, General Secretary of AL’s Laxmipur District unit) was attacked for the fourth time in just 14 months. A mob identifying themselves as “July Warriors” - a term used for participants in the July–Aug 2024 protests- stormed Noyon’s home in the Women’s College area of Laxmipur, setting it ablaze. They arrived with a truck, looted household belongings, and even assaulted local journalist Forhad Hossain for attempting to document the incident. Sources: shorturl.at/r0YNo shorturl.at/bvuVS This was not an isolated case. On Augu 4, 2024, Noyon’s house was first attacked and set on fire, even before the ouster of the AL Govt. On Aug 5, 2024, the residence was torched again, accompanied by widespread looting. On Feb 6, 2025, for the third time, the house was looted and burned, alongside hundreds of other properties belonging to AL leaders and activists across Bangladesh in a two-day long orgy of wanton violence and destruction. The pattern is unmistakable. The Aug 2024 and Feb 2025 waves of violence saw thousands of homes and businesses of AL leaders, activists, and supporters targeted. Instead of prosecuting the perpetrators who use their Jul-Aug 2024 movement credentials as a shield, the Interim Govt of Yunus indemnified those responsible for crimes committed during Jul–Aug 2024, and has since allowed a de facto immunity for continued attacks against the Awami League. …… #BangladeshCrisis #Mobocracy

Heartfelt greetings to everyone on this auspicious Vijaya Dashami. Durga Puja is a festival of joy, devotion, and the eternal triumph of good over evil. On this sacred occasion, I extend my heartfelt wishes to our Hindu brothers and sisters, and to all who join in celebrating the spirit of unity and harmony. Yet this year, our celebrations are clouded by fear and uncertainty. Under the Yunus regime, extremism and communal hatred have again raised their heads. Temples have been attacked, worshippers threatened, and the fundamental right to practice one’s faith has come under siege. But we must remember - the forces of darkness never prevail. Just as Devi Durga vanquished Mahishasura, the people of Bangladesh will overcome oppression and injustice. May we be blessed with the courage to resist evil, the wisdom to walk the path of truth, and the unity to protect our motherland. Joy Bangla, Joy Bangabandhu.

Durga Puja is a time of devotion and celebration, a festival that embodies the triumph of good over evil. Yet this year, our Hindu brothers and sisters in Bangladesh are observing the puja under fear and uncertainty. Under the Yunus regime, the rise of extremism has brought back the dark shadows of religious persecution. Temples have been attacked, families threatened, and the right to worship freely has once again come under siege. The very extremists who once opposed our Liberation are now emboldened, spreading terror against those who carry forward the spirit of 1971. Throughout history, the Awami League has stood as the protector of Bangladesh’s minorities. It was the Awami League that rebuilt temples destroyed in 1971, that defended the rights of Hindus, Buddhists, and Christians to practice their faith, and that brought in stronger measures to prevent communal violence. Secularism and equality have always been at the heart of our politics, because Bangladesh was born from the vision of unity, not division. Today, as our Hindu brothers and sisters light lamps and offer prayers to Maa Durga, we cannot ignore the darkness of fear that surrounds them. But we also know that this darkness will not last. The Awami League will once again return to powe, and with it, the assurance that every Hindu, every minority, will celebrate their faith without fear, and live in this country with full dignity and freedom. May Devi Durga bless Bangladesh with courage, unity, and the eternal victory of good over evil. Joy Bangla, Joy Bangabandhu! #Bangladesh #DurgaPuja

In his interview with Mehdi Hasan at the UN, Muhammad Yunus once again revealed the truth: he is terrified of the Awami League’s strength and Bangladesh’s democratic spirit. By insisting the party is not “banned” but “suspended,” Yunus tried to play word games to hide his authoritarian grip. But suspension or ban makes no difference—when the largest political party cannot organize, campaign, or contest elections, democracy is dead. This doublespeak exposes Yunus’s deep insecurities. He downplays the Awami League’s mass support while clinging to power through manipulation of institutions. His words prove that fear, not principle, drives his actions. Bangladesh cannot be silenced. The people deserve their voices back. The world must recognize what is happening: Yunus is dismantling democracy while pretending to defend it. ➡️albd.org/articles/news/… #BangladeshCrisis #SaveBangladesh #DemocracyUnderAttack #YunusMustGo #YunusRegime

Even books not safe from the #Yunus-backed foot-soldiers of “new” #Bangladesh: #Library vandalised in #Dhaka alleging ‘#AwamiLeague collaborators’ meet there! A library in the Rajuk Uttara Apt. Project residential area of Dhaka was vandalised and looted on Thursday night on the pretext that “collaborators of the Awami League” frequently gather there. The local library is operated by a local cricket club, United Brothers. During the attack, books, chairs, tables, IT and other office equipment were looted. One person was also assaulted during the attack, which was led by “leaders” of the Turag Unit of the Students Against Discrimination (SAD) Movement. While the witnesses at the scene confirmed that the attack took place between two groups of the SAD’s Turag Unit as part of their internal power struggle, the attackers used “AL gathering” as an excuse since those words are enough to provide anyone with a shield from legal accountability these days under the Yunus Govt. Mahfuz Alam, adviser to the current interim government, admitted that BNP-Jamaat people are sitting everywhere, from the university VC-Pro-VC to the admin cadre. After forming the interim government on August 8 last year, BNP and Jamaat appointed their own people. Mahfuz Alam said that 10 VCs were appointed by BNP and 3 by Jamaat. If the Vice Chancellor (VC) is not from Jamaat, then the pro-Vice Chancellor (pro-VC) is from Jamaat. The admins were fussy about what to take; all this happened in front of my eyes. Within 4 months, all members of the BNP-Jamaat were established in their positions. It is clear from Mahfuz Alam's statement that just as the current administration cannot run the country completely under the control of BNP-Jamaat and through these illegally appointed officials, a fair legal election cannot be accepted by this administration. Today, Bangladesh has lost the trust of the people in the rule of law. Elections will not be acceptable, as the country will not run with a biased administration. Bangladesh now demands the resignation of the current government and seeks to elect a new government through a fair election that includes participation from all parties, facilitated by a neutral caretaker government and administration. This image- with the exact caption shown here- was posted by Dr. #Yunus’s Press Team on his Facebook page and other social media platforms. The caption reads “United #Bangladesh in United Nations.” Here are three reasons why that claim is misleading: 1. A tiny fraction of parties are represented: In the photo, only representatives of three political parties are seen alongside Yunus: the #BNP, #JamaatEIslami, and the #NCP. Yet, Bangladesh currently has 55 registered political parties under the Election Commission. That means the gathering represents barely 5.45% of all parties, hardly a picture of “unity.” On top of that, the NCP has not even secured formal registration yet. 2. It reflects just one political camp: BNP and Jamaat have been political allies officially for the past 24 years, including five years in power together (2001–2006). The NCP is widely ridiculed as Jamaat’s “B/C team,” given their overlapping policies and demands. This grouping, therefore, represents only a narrow slice of Bangladesh’s right-wing and center-right spectrum. Not a single party from the left or center-left is present. 3. It’s an anti–Awami League bloc, not a “united Bangladesh": The parties in this photo share one central agenda- to eliminate the #AwamiLeague, the country’s largest and oldest political party. Jamaat and the NCP spearheaded the call for banning the AL, with BNP backing them. Today, NCP and Jamaat are also campaigning to ban Bangladesh’s third-largest party, the Jatiya Party, along with other AL allies. This is not national unity- it is a partisan cabal united around exclusion and bans. Therefore, this picture does not represent “United Bangladesh” at the UN. It simply shows Yunus callously spending taxpayers' hard-earned money to fly off his political allies to New York for nothing. Nothing more, nothing less. --- #BangladeshCrisis #UNGA2025 @antonioguterres @volker_turk @Ginitastar @UNinBangladesh

Civil Liberties Under #Yunus: The paranoid regime is now moving to block mobile apps in an effort to disrupt comms among opposition activists and dissidents. At a meeting of the Core Committee on Law and Order chaired by the Home Minister yesterday, it was decided that the Interim Govt led by Muhammad Yunus will restrict access to the messaging apps #BOTIM and @telegram in #Bangladesh. The justification? The authorities claim that #AwamiLeague leaders and activists are using these platforms to join virtual meetings with their leader #SheikhHasina and to coordinate political activities. The plan reportedly involves initially throttling the speed of these apps at night, followed by a complete nationwide ban once election schedules are announced. The move appears aimed at preventing protests and silencing dissent ahead of what increasingly looks like a one-sided #election. News: en.prothomalo.com/bangladesh/gov… The decision to block two widely used mobile apps simply to disrupt the communications of opposition activists represents a grave violation of int’l #humanrights law. Such actions infringe upon freedom of expression, freedom of association, and the right to peaceful assembly, all of which are protected under the Int’l Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR). Targeting communication platforms for political purposes undermines democratic participation and political pluralism, while also punishing millions of ordinary users who rely on these apps for daily life, business, and emergency comms. This constitutes collective punishment and is wholly disproportionate. Int’l law is clear: restrictions on digital comms must be lawful, necessary, and proportionate. Blocking apps to silence opp. activists and dissidents clearly does not meet the standards. Will the int’l community raise their voices against such erosion of digital freedoms under Yunus as they had rightly done in the past? ….. #BangladeshCrisis @volker_turk @OHCHRAsia @Irenekhan @UNHumanRights @amnestysasia @PearsonElaine @HRW @ESandersFCDO @meeganguly @StateDRL @DRL_AS @HRF @RFKHumanRights @TheDavidBergman @justiceinfonet @IHRF_English @BonaveroIHR @FCDOHumanRights @cnni @CWhiteleyEU @EURightsAgency @article19org @MujMash @freedomhouse @HannahEP @SamiraHussain15 @b_parkyn @JonathanEmont @CordeliaSkyNews @SSabihaAlam @AFP @Sabir59 @meghnabali @DavidPBMaddox @TheEconomist

The Yunus administration has intensified its crackdown on dissent by expanding the use of the Anti-Terrorism Act against journalists, academics, and opposition figures. Individuals have been arbitrarily labeled as “terrorists” for engaging in peaceful discussions, including on constitutional matters. This represents a broader campaign of judicial harassment and repression aimed at silencing critical voices and dismantling independent media. Key findings include: •Over 600 cases filed against journalists, including 432 in fabricated cases and 296 charged in murder cases. •41 journalists arbitrarily arrested; 18 remain imprisoned without bail or fair trial guarantees. •More than 1,000 journalists dismissed or forced to resign; 168 press accreditations and 83 press club memberships revoked. •At least 50 media outlets attacked, leaving 6 journalists killed and over 100 injured. •96 journalists subjected to intrusive financial investigations; 18 bank accounts frozen. •Ownership of major media organizations forcibly transferred. These measures illustrate a systematic effort to undermine press freedom, weaken civil society, and silence opposition voices in Bangladesh. When you silence people, and they will scream. Silence their screams, and they will tear things down. Suppress them further, and you invite disaster upon yourself. @ESandersFCDO @UNHCR_BGD @IHRF_English @IHumanRightsC @IhrcE @RFKHumanRights @RapporteurUn @FranceskAlbs @MaryLawlorhrds @SouthAsiaHudson @EUAmbBangladesh @IFreijsen @PAMPALONIPAOLA @CWhiteleyEU @StateDRL @DRL_AS @Ant_Navarrete @LisaCurtisDC @State_SCA @husainhaqqani @geoffreymacdon @DerekJGrossman @MichaelKugelman @dhume @CJBdingo25 @Chellaney @mrubin1971 @ChathamHouse @kajakallas @bronwenmaddox @lelispatricia @suhasinih @naomi2009 @Kai_Schultz @MujMash @SaharZand @_rachaelthorn @bulutuzay_ @SamiraHussain15 @CharlieCamp6ell @b_parkyn @anbarasanethi @KylieGrey @JohnReedwrites @diaahadid @CordeliaSkyNews @CPJAsia @RSF_inter @RSF_en

Deaths Without Justice: Rising Custodial Killings in Bangladesh Met with Global Silence. In Bangladesh, the number of extrajudicial killings and deaths in custody has sharply increased. Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun, a former member of parliament from Narsingdi-4, died in jail on September 29. On September 22, former chairman of Kanjipara Union Parishad and Awami League leader Abu Bakkar Siddique Munna (Munna Chairman) of Fulchhari upazila of Gaibandha died in Gaibandha District Jail. Read: thedailystar.net/news/banglades… Read: en.bddigest.com/no-release-des… The fear and panic among the people are increasing due to such incidents. At the same time, the number of extrajudicial killings has increased. On September 28, three people were shot dead by the army and law enforcers in Khagrachhari during a protest against rape. Read: thedailystar.net/news/banglades… Earlier, on July 16, five Awami League supporters were shot dead by the army and law enforcers during a peaceful protest in Gopalganj. Read: en.prothomalo.com/amp/story/bang… Besides, the body of a BNP leader was found the day after the army picked him up on February 1, with serious injury marks on his body. Read: tbsnews.net/bangladesh/jub… According to data published by the Law and Arbitration Centre (ASK), 69 people died in the custody of law enforcement agencies in the period from August 2024 to July 2025. At least 31 were Awami League leaders, activists, or supporters. Such group-oriented repression and deaths have increased the risk of politically motivated repression. Despite all these incidents, the silence of international human rights organisations is worrying. Their passive stance appears to be an indirect support for extrajudicial killings and state repression, which goes against the basic spirit of human rights. #Bangladesh #HumanRights #CustodialDeaths #JusticeForAll

Taher Sparks Outrage: Jamaat-e-Islami Ready for War with India, Claims 50 Lakh Youths to Join Fight. Provocative remarks ignite nationwide debate as fears of rising extremism grip Bangladesh. Dr Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher, deputy ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, has been accused of making some explosive, provocative remarks. His statement, which questions the Liberation War, calls for war against India and demands that five million youth be prepared for war, has sparked widespread controversy in the country. We want India to enter Bangladesh. Awami League will not fight against India but will cooperate with it. BNP will not be able to resist India. But the Jamaat-e-Islami is ready. Five million of our youth are prepared to fight. He says one part of these five million will fight the guerrilla war, and the other will divide India. We will implement the master plan of the Ghazwat al-Hind war. Read: dailyrepublicbd.com/?p=3716 Their plans and war preparations are threatening the country's internal security. Is Jamaat-e-Islami training terrorists on a large scale? Such comments not only question the history of the 1971 Liberation War but also raise the spectre of communal violence during the Puja. Religious leaders, analysts, and ordinary citizens believe this statement is an attempt to disrupt peace and order. Such comments during Durga Puja can endanger communal harmony. Political parties have also criticised the move. Experts say that if any religious or political leader makes such statements, they can lead the youth in the wrong direction and create unrest in the country. The people of Bangladesh want peace. Any escalation of hostilities against a neighbouring country or religious community for political gain is a threat to national sovereignty and unity. It is crucial to reject such provocative statements at all levels of society. But the question remains: Is Jamaat preparing for war against India? How were they trained? Are the enemies from Pakistan motivating them to fight? #Bangladesh #India #Terrorism #indvspak2025 #India

Awami League Statement Condemning Attacks on Processions, Arbitrary Arrests, and Repression and Human Rights Violations by the Illegal Usurper, Killer-Fascist Yunus Clique —— Since the illegal usurper, killer-fascist Yunus clique seized state power, the people of the country have been witnessing horrific carnage and brutality. Public life has plunged into hellish suffering. There is no law and order. The entire nation is in the grip of mob rule, where murder, killings, rape, looting, and arson have become daily occurrences. Unspeakable crimes—such as holding a weapon to a child’s head to gang rape the mother, or digging up bodies from graves and burning them—have become the disgraceful reality of today’s Bangladesh. Even homeless vagabonds and the mentally ill on the streets are not spared from mob terror. Under the direct instruction of this illegal usurper government, genocide was carried out in Gopalganj. The people of Bangladesh are enduring hellfire in this burning inferno. To free the people from this suffocating condition, leaders and activists of the Bangladesh Awami League have continued their struggle. As part of this ongoing fight, when Awami League leaders and activists brought out processions at different points in Dhaka today, BNP–Chhatra Dal terrorists, with direct backing from the administration, carried out attacks. Instead of rescuing the victims, the police unjustly arrested them. BNP, Jubo Dal, and Chhatra Dal cadres engaged in mob terror, abducting and disappearing many, extorting ransom, and inflicting brutal torture, leaving many gravely injured. Far from ensuring proper treatment, the police blocked the injured from receiving medical care and instead carried out arbitrary arrests. In this way, under the shelter of the administration, BNP’s party cadres attacked peaceful processions and countless leaders and activists were arrested. On behalf of the Bangladesh Awami League, we strongly condemn and protest these heinous attacks and indiscriminate arrests. At the same time, in protest of the attacks and arrests on peaceful processions, and demanding the immediate withdrawal of all false and harassing cases filed against those arrested today as well as against Bangabandhu’s daughter, the people’s leader Sheikh Hasina, Awami League and other political leaders and activists, and people of all walks of life, along with the unconditional release of all political prisoners — the Bangladesh Awami League calls for protest processions and rallies across the country, including Dhaka, on Friday, 26 September 2025, at 2 p.m. We want to declare: Bangladesh Awami League is the party of the masses, an inexhaustible force. Awami League has the strength and capacity to break through unyielding barriers and claim the promise of tomorrow — a truth written on every page of history. The activists of Awami League are fearless and unflinching in establishing the people’s rights. Therefore, the day the people achieve victory will also be the day when these evil, demonic forces are brought to justice. The Bangladesh that has been turned into a land of demons will once again be reshaped into a land of peace, Inshallah.
