@STATter911 @DoniCrawford It is really not that hard to research. All you need is the date and approximate time. All recordings are date and time stamped. It may take a few extra minutes without a call taker ID but it can be done.

.@donicrawford hearing McGaffin explain that if you aren't part of the 911 call OUC won't give you any information. DC Open Government Coalition's Fritz Mulhauser says that's illegal. McGaffin telling Crawford that they don't have anything on the incident on Illinois Avenue NW that @ANCJonah has been trying to get. Then why do I have the radio traffic that shows OUC dispatched @dcfireems to the wrong address on an EMS call? Eight minutes lost. But Heather McGaffin testifies it doesn't exist. Glad to send it to you CM Crawford.

.@DoniCrawford is asking McGaffin about responding to complaints. McGaffin is not candid with her claim about all complaints making it to the public dashboard. She won't take complaints if the person doesn't know the number of the 911 caller. She ignored almost 50 of mine last year using OUC's complaint form. Just look at her BS responses to the oversight questionnaire. If McGaffin really doesn't know about the confirmed incidents that were listed she should not be in this job. And there are plent more incidents being ignored.

@WTOP @STATter911 @NealAugenstein Here is a screen shot for WTOP’s website this morning. The story is about how DC ensures how first responders can respond to emergencies. Apparently removing snow and applying ice helps. (Screen shot below)

Notice the seats ⏬⏬. Those were made with urethane foam and became the center of @WMATA's first battle with area fire chiefs. DCFD (now @dcfireems) Fire Marshal John Breen publicly battled with Metro GM Jackson Graham about six years after this White House visit. Backed by National Bureau of Standards testing, Breen wouldn't let trains run in DC with urethane seats and wall linings. In a fire, the foam quickly ignited, emitting thick, toxic smoke. That's why Metro ended up with the hard, thick plastic seats. Although there was at least a brief discussion about keeping the seats, but with the addition of a fire suppression system in the cars. At his retirement dinner, Chief Breen was presented with one of the original urethane seats by a Metro safety team member. We all owe Chief Breen and the other chiefs for standing their ground 50 years ago and truly putting safety first. @ChiefBashoor @FD_Observer @WMATAHistory @MCFRSFireChief @ChiefJohnButler @ChiefRobBrown @chiefrays @eyeondc @McCartneyWP @GeneMeyer

Los Angeles Fire Department Assistant Chief Kristine Larson says when people's houses are burning down, they want a firefighter to show up who looks like them. Hot take: People just want someone to show up who will stop their house from burning down.

We spoke with @FDNY firefighters about memories of their fathers who perished in the line of duty while responding to the attacks on 9/11/2001. Today, a new generation of firefighters continue their fathers' legacies by serving in the same department.

Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton was born on this date (August 28) in 1774. Did you know her legacy is linked with the NFFF? The National Emergency Training Center (NETC), which houses the Fallen Firefighters Memorial as well as the NFFF Memorial Chapel, was originally the site of St. Joseph Academy founded in 1809 by St. Elizabeth Ann Seton. The cornerstone of the Saint Joseph’s Chapel, now the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Chapel, was laid on March 19, 1839. The chapel’s design is based on St. Elizabeth Ann Seton’s wishes to have the chapel modeled after the church in Livorno, Italy, where she found comfort after her husband died. It is fitting that it is now a place where many who have lost a loved one find comfort. St. Elizabeth Ann Seton’s story is one of courage, perseverance, and resilience through tragedy – as many who walk the grounds of the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Park can relate to. NEW: There were good intentions by the 911 caller and those working at DC911/@OUC_DC after someone passed out during this afternoon's White House press briefing. But its handling has me again questioning procedures, supervision, and training at DC911. Is it wrong to think that when the 911 center in the nation's capital gets an outsider calling about an emergency at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW there's enough communications sophistication that someone in OUC is immediately talking with @USSecretServic1 about an emergency response to the White House? Instead, it was treated as any other call. It was left to an incredulous @dcfireems EMS supervisor (listen below 🔽🔽) to read the notes for the call to realize the response was initiated by an apparently concerned citizen watching the press briefing on TV when the person passed out. I am not claiming EMS shouldn't have been dispatched. It's usually better to get emergency crews on the road. Dispatchers should have immediately explained the situation to the responding units and told them they were on the phone with US Secret Service to confirm EMS is actually needed. But this requires more than the DC911 center can currently muster. It requires call-takers who alert supervisors about unusual 911 calls. It requires dispatchers and supervisors paying attention to the calls and reading the notes. It requires enough well-trained staff to allow the 911 center to operate effectively. Sadly, none of these are things are regular features at DC's 911 center. That's why calls are regularly mishandled, whether at the White House or your house. #FixDC911 Thanks to @RealTimeNews10 for the alert. @dclinenews @tomsherwood @RealTimeNews10 @ELaserDavies @oliviardiaz @leonardnfleming @RamirezReports @SegravesNBC4 @ANCCostello @CMBrookePinto @CMZParker5 @chenderson @SmithSteiner @johnson4b06 @Evan_Yeats @ANCJonah @MayorBowser @SafeDC @charlesallen @ChmnMendelson @theHillisHome @PoPville @dccrimefacts @abeaujon @SchreiberSara @CapitalJeff @Brightwoodian @ODCA_DC @kpattdc @IAFF36 @dcpoliceunion @BrianneKNadeau @jennygathright @tednbc4 #whitehouse #dc911 #911fail #USSS #ambulance #EMS #whitehousebriefing #emergency #hotweather #heat
