I just introduced the Anti-Insurrectionist Act in NY. It's simple: If you're a New Yorker who takes from Trump's illegal January 6th slush fund, NY will tax 100% of it.

Huge shoutout to Canada for their fierce, disciplined tourism "boycott" this year. 🍁 Your sacrifice was deeply moving. Thanks to you staying home to drink maple syrup and apologize to your moose, Florida only managed to... checks notes... break its all-time record for total visitors. 📈 The local gators are absolutely devastated that they had to eat domestic tourists from New Jersey instead of premium, pale, Tim Hortons-fed snowbirds. It’s been tough adapting, but we are pushing through. We’ll miss the sight of socks with sandals on the beach, but our traffic flow thanks you for your service. 😂

PRESS RELEASE: Minnesota Court of Appeals Affirms Victory for Gun Owners, Strikes Binary Trigger Ban as Unconstitutional ST. PAUL, MN — The Minnesota Court of Appeals today affirmed the Minnesota Gun Owners Caucus’s constitutional victory over Minnesota’s binary trigger ban, ruling that the Legislature violated the Minnesota Constitution’s single-subject clause when it buried the ban inside the sprawling 2024 omnibus bill. In Minnesota Gun Owners Caucus v. Walz, the Court of Appeals agreed with Ramsey County District Court Judge Leonardo Castro that the binary trigger provision is not germane to the underlying subject of the bill and therefore cannot stand. The provision is struck. The binary trigger ban remains enjoined in Minnesota. “This is a complete victory on the question we asked the court to decide,” said Bryan Strawser, Chair of the Minnesota Gun Owners Caucus. “The Walz administration and anti-gun legislators tried to sneak a firearms ban into an omnibus bill where it didn’t belong. The district court said no. The Court of Appeals said no. Minnesota’s Constitution, not legislative gamesmanship, controls how laws get made in this state, and Minnesota gun owners just proved it twice.” “Today’s ruling is a warning to every legislator who thinks the single-subject clause is optional,” said Rob Doar, President of the Minnesota Gun Owners Law Center. “Two courts have now told the Legislature that you cannot bury gun control provisions inside unrelated bills and call it lawmaking. If anti-gun lawmakers try this again in 2026 or beyond, we will be back in court, and we will win again.” The Court of Appeals declined to strike the entire underlying bill, narrowing its remedy to the binary trigger provision itself. That outcome is the textbook result the Caucus sought: the unconstitutional firearms restriction is severed and unenforceable, while the rest of the bill remains intact. With today’s decision, Minnesota’s binary trigger ban is dead. The ruling affirms both the Second Amendment rights of Minnesotans and the constitutional requirement that the Legislature pass laws transparently, one subject at a time. I've long thought spending so much money on an SRO was silly, but I gotta say, it's the first red dot I looked through that didn't starburst at all (I was using the 5 MOA version). Really played very nice with my astigmatism. Normally I use reticles, because in reticle mode, I see it just fine with no distortion. Dots alone are unusable. And I don't think it's just that it was 5 MOA, though I'm sure that helps. I tried an 8 MOA dot once thinking it would resolve the issue, and it still burst and didn't look clean at all. Dunno what black magic Trijicon uses!

Mass shootings. If mass shootings stopped or became much more rare, the antigun movement would wither away. They are totally reliant on those attacks to try and bottle some mass hysteria to pass draconian gun laws, and it's the only time the general public (temporarily) pays attention to orgs like Everytown or Giffords. Most people intuitively understand that "routine" gun-related crime is, aside from tragic incidents of people being caught in crossfire, avoidable. If you aren't involved in gangs or drugs, and don't go to stupid places at stupid times, then generally, gun-related crime won't affect you, and you are as safe here as you are in any other first world country. Similarly, people know they can avoid tragedies like a child getting ahold of a gun and shooting himself or another by responsibly storing firearms. But mass shootings can reach you anywhere even if you are doing nothing irresponsible or criminal, and that understandably scares people. It doesn't really matter that such shootings are statistically super rare, and some years lightning kills more than mass shootings do. In the same way terrorist attacks have an outsize effect on public policy relative to their bodycount, mass shootings are the gun ban movement's gasoline. This is why they push very hard to make the public believe mass shootings are much more common than they are through nonsense like the Gun Violence Archive's expansive definition (their data mostly reflects large gang-related shootings). It's also why they are so very angry when an armed citizen stops or cuts short a mass shooting - as that citizen just cost them their main PR opportunity! No surprise then that they do everything possible to make sure an armed citizen isn't there to stop shootings, by supporting laws that make getting carry permits more difficult, and laws that ban carry in as many places as possible. We should try to stop mass shootings because it's the right thing to do, nobody should ever be killed because of some deranged loser nutjob trying to murder random innocents. But in stopping or reducing them, we'd also defeat the main engine of authoritarian gun control.

@BearingArmsCom I'm sure the "neighbors" who "expressed deep frustration with local leaders" voted for those local leaders. Sorry, not sorry. May they be victims of their poor decisions. It's the only way they'll learn. Maybe.
