Hegseth, nope. Just no. Not one more dollar. Not one more bomb. Not one more excuse. Congress needs to make it clear we won't fund unauthorized forever wars. It’s time we pass the Block the Bombs Act and hold warmongers accountable.
Reuters@Reuters

The Pentagon requested more than $200 billion for the Iran war, with Hegseth saying the funds are needed to maintain operations and replenish munitions reut.rs/3PkMbhZ

The decision to go to war is a monumental and grave one – one that should be made with the consent of Congress and a clear plan. It shouldn’t be taken lightly, but, unfortunately, we've seen Trump do just that. That's why I'll vote YES on @SenTimKaine's war powers resolution.

A lot of people are confused about the War Powers Act. It *does not* allow the president to make war without authorization from Congress at their personal whim. It allows for use of the military in consultation with Congress when we have a national emergency because America is under attack. Trump's war with Iran is plainly illegal and unconstitutional.

Senator, I am surprised at you. You know about the War Powers Act. You are a lawyer and smart. It is one thing to disagree, but you know the Pres not have to get pre authorization from Congress (must just notify in 48 hours.)

Punchbowl News reports that Khanna-Massie War Powers Resolution "could pass" "The stakes here are extraordinarily high. Nearly every public opinion poll shows Americans are firmly opposed to a war against Iran... Oil prices have spiked and global financial markets have slumped"

NIAC
NIAC@NIACouncil·
🚨 NIAC President @jabdi released the following statement following confirmed reports that the United States participated alongside U.S.-Israel in strikes on Tehran while diplomatic negotiations were underway: “We are outraged by the decision to launch military strikes on Iran, at the very moment diplomacy was active and reportedly making progress. Israel is describing these as  ‘preemptive strikes.’ That claim does not withstand scrutiny. Preemptive self-defense under international law requires an imminent armed attack, not political disagreement, not long-term rivalry, not speculative future threats. There has been no evidence of imminent attack from Iran that would justify bombing Tehran in broad daylight. “The participation of the United States in this attack represents a grave and historic breach of constitutional authority. Congress has not authorized war with Iran. The American people have not consented to another open-ended military conflict in the Middle East. “Bombing Tehran will not bring security. It will endanger civilians, place U.S. service members at risk, empower the most repressive and violent elements inside Iran, and destabilize the region for years to come. “For Iranians already suffering under repression, sanctions, and economic hardship, this escalation will mean only more pain. For Iranian Americans watching their homeland attacked in broad daylight, it is a moment of fear and anguish. “Congress must act immediately to reassert its constitutional authority and halt further escalation. The pending War Powers resolutions must come to a vote without delay. Lawmakers must make clear that there is no authorization for war with Iran.” NIAC calls on all Members of Congress to publicly oppose further U.S. military action and to support the Kaine-Paul Iran War Powers Resolution in the Senate and the Massie-Khanna resolution in the House. niacouncil.org/niac-statement…

Democrats need to oppose this regime change war in Iran full stop. We can’t just raise points of process because Trump didn’t ask permission. That’s insanely insufficient. This war is wrong and without justification. Lives will be lost, chaos will last, and US will spend massive sums that should be spent at home. This is simple

Truly so much to say about yesterday’s witness in DC for immigrant justice. What started out as a plan for 100-200 people ended as a historic event with 2,000 people of faith - worshipping and marching across from the seat of power to say that the Lord’s word is for JUSTICE.

Trump and Hegseth can’t even justify their $1.5 TRILLION defense budget ask—a staggering $500 BILLION INCREASE. Congress should flat-out reject it.
An unserious request like this invites waste and abuse, and risks blowing up the bipartisan appropriations process altogether.

The General Board of Church and Society is proud to endorse this legislation to annul the Monroe Doctrine and adopt a Good Neighbor Policy toward Latin America and the Caribbean based on peace and mutual respect.
Rep. Nydia Velazquez@NydiaVelazquez

Trump's "Donroe Doctrine" is just a more grotesque version of 200 years of failed interventionism in Latin America. Today, I led colleagues in introducing the New Good Neighbor Act to end the Monroe Doctrine and replace domination with real partnership based on mutual respect. velazquez.house.gov/media-center/p…
