The conflict between the Meiteis and Kukis, followed by the growing tensions between Nagas and Kukis, has left me emotionally exhausted and confused. Every story of pain comes from someone I know, someone I care about, or someone who reminds me of the people I grew up with. I find myself asking questions I never thought I would have to ask: Who am I supposed to stand with? Who am I supposed to blame? Who am I supposed to hate? And every time, my heart refuses to give me an answer. Nothing prepares you for this kind of sensory and emotional overload. The grief, anger, fear, and endless stream of heartbreaking stories come from all sides. My mind tries to make sense of it, to separate right from wrong, friend from foe, but eventually it gives up. There is simply too much pain, too many shattered lives, too many people I love on different sides of the conflict. So I surrender—not to hatred, but to the painful truth that humanity is being lost in the noise. In a place that once taught me the beauty of diversity, I now find myself mourning how easily we forget that before we were Meitei, Kuki, or Naga, we were neighbors, friends, and fellow human beings. Despite everything, I refuse to let hatred define me. I will stand for love over division, peace over violence, and justice over prejudice. My humanity will not be limited by community boundaries.
