I thank His Excellency Antonio Guterres, @antonioguterres the United Nations Secretary General for appointing me as the next Executive Director of United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime and the Director General of UN office in Vienna @UN_Vienna. I appreciate the Secretary General’s confidence in my ability to steer these two important offices at the Under Secretary General level, at this critical point. Coming on the eve of the International Women’s Day, this appointment is demonstrative of the UNSG’s belief in women leadership. I sincerely thank H.E. President William Ruto @WilliamsRuto for the confidence he bestowed upon me in serving him as his, and the first, National Security Advisor of the Republic of Kenya, as Secretary to the National Security Council, and for enabling me to take this global assignment, demonstrating yet again his belief in Kenya making its contribution to the community of nations. I look forward to serving at this new mandate diligently and flying Kenya’s flag high, to the best of my ability. Thank You Kenya for preparing me to serve humanity!

This is shocking. Hopefully we find a way to win it but tactically it's been dreadful

If anyone is campaigning for Speaker of Parliament, and you seriously want it, given the current character of the house and government, here is what you should realistically promise in your campaign: - Promoting all the President’s (and family) wishes without question - Negotiating for occasional ‘tips’ for MPs from the President - Granting MPs trips/allowances without nosing into whether they go or not - Harvesting the thin opposition in Parliament, especially through pecuniary compromise - Ensuring that critical media and journalists are kept away from the institution. AVOID THESE: - Don’t waste time promising oversight and accountability functions. - Don’t front your goodness or other ideal qualities e.g., academic credentials, integrity, intelligence… You will definitely lose, very badly. - Don’t show any presidential abilities or even make anyone think about you as a potential president. - Once again, avoid sounding very intelligent and clean. - Don’t compare yourself to exemplary speakers in other countries. That’s not what Uganda needs. Or else, go and contest there.

I think, for me, what has exposed the @JudiciaryUG the most is habeas corpus. It has exposed how the executive takes the @JudiciaryUG as a joke and the latter has accepted that. 1. An emergency procedure meant to avert danger or harm takes months. 2. Even after months no remedy is offered because the @JudiciaryUG accepts the state to make a fool out of it with ridiculous denials even where evidence has been produced of the state’s participation. 3. When it has been proven that the state was indeed responsible for the illegal detention of some of the victims the @JudiciaryUG hasn’t demanded the release of even the others they have denied having in illegal detention. 5. The same Judiciary goes a head and tries the very people it asked the state to produce but was disregarded, denied, lied to on oath. #UgandaJudiciaryExhibition

When we tell you that you have an utterly unqualified individual at the leadership of the airline, you say we are mean-spirited. These are the visible consequencesof such an unmeritorious appointment. The invisible one is how much we are bleeding the public purse and abusing the office. It is not just those seeking to fly the airline; everyone Ugandan is paying for this incompetence. Let that sink in. #PiginLipstick

Internet shutdowns are election rigging. Switching off the internet silences voters, blocks journalists, and hides abuse. It is a disproportionate violation of freedom of expression, access to information, and civic participation, all protected under international and African human rights law. Dictators that rig elections must be isolated.

The timing of the arrest of Ms @SarahBireete and the manner of its execution following her sharp, sustained criticisms of the Kampala regime, her relentless pursuit of the rule of law, only confirms one thing - the democratic space in Uganda is throttled, strangled, and replaced with an authoritarian tendency dressing as a ‘democracy.’ If Sarah has committed any offence, accord her the dignity of a summons, interrogation, and processing for accountability. Why storm, surround her home, and subject her to such humiliation of an unlawful ransacking of her home? #FreeSarahBireete.

Every election cycle, the regime targets civil society leaders, journalists, and human rights activists with arrests, abductions, torture, deportation, etc. Just learnt of the arrest of outspoken civil society leader, Dr. @SarahBireete after the police and military raided her home. Ms. Bireete's arrest follows her consistent loud condemnation of the criminal regime's excesses and brutal conduct. #FreeSarahBireete #FreeUgandaNow

📌📌 The drama of signatures continues! Why can’t @UgandaEC subject these contested signatures to handwriting experts? In an election under extreme commercialization of politics, isn’t it common sense that these are money games @j_mucunguzi @PaulBukenya #UgandaDecides2026 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

#BREAKING: Ugandan military and police have for over 6 hours blocked opposition leader @HEBobiwine from accessing lawfully booked accommodation, forcing repeated displacement while surrounding him with heavily armed security personnel. This appears to be arbitrary restriction of movement and de facto detention. Such actions violate Uganda’s obligations under the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR), including Article 12 (freedom of movement), Article 9 (freedom from arbitrary detention), and Article 25 (political participation), as well as protections under the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights. Using the military to obstruct an opposition candidate’s campaign activities and personal safety constitutes political repression, not lawful policing. Orders enabling these abuses raise serious concerns of command responsibility. ⭕️facebook.com/share/v/1Bb1jf… @UN_HRC @UN @volker_turk @IntlCrimCourt @CISI @FCDOGovUK @eu_eeas @AsstSecStateAF @USEmbassyUganda @StateDept @SenateForeign @Europarl_EN @_AfricanUnion @LarryMadowo @CNN @BBC @guardian @ABC

This is how the military brutalised us in Gulu, as captured by @ntvuganda cameras! The world must not look on as that Museveni continues to get away with all these crimes against humanity. A time must come when ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. #FreeUgandaNow
