Agree 100% @TiborPNagyJr. It’s impossible to ignore the deep contradiction—openly praising Isaias Afwerki while choosing to live in democratic societies that guarantee the very freedoms denied back home in Eritrea. This isn’t just hypocrisy—it’s part of a broader system of silence and control. The regime doesn’t only repress its people inside Eritrea; it extends its reach globally through transnational repression—intimidating, monitoring, and attempting to silence Eritreans in the diaspora who dare to speak out. Meanwhile, some abroad amplify propaganda while enjoying free speech on platforms like X—a freedom Eritreans inside the country don’t even have. That’s exactly why the #BlueRevolution matters. It represents a growing movement of Eritreans—both inside and outside the country—who are rejecting fear, rejecting dictatorship, and demanding accountability, justice, and basic human rights. It’s about breaking the cycle of intimidation and exposing the truth, no matter where it comes from. You can’t celebrate oppression from a distance while benefiting from freedom up close. The Eritrean people deserve better—and the world is starting to see through the contradictions. #BlueRevolution #Eritrea #TransnationalRepression #NoMorePFDJTerror #RegimeChangeInEritrea

I shake my head at Eritrean diaspora which sings the praises of dictator Isaias. If he's so great, why don't they go home to his "paradise" instead of staying in corrupt West? Of course, in Eritrea, they couldn't insult people on X due to no internet. Isn't hypocrisy wonderful?!

States that genuinely invest in sports and athletics are, in reality, investing in the future of their youth and, by extension, in the long-term project of nation-building. Sports are not merely recreational activities; they are platforms for discipline, identity, unity, and international representation. When properly supported, they empower young people, nurture talent, and create opportunities that benefit both individuals and the nation as a whole. In contrast, the PFDJ regime has consistently undermined these very principles. Instead of fostering an environment where young people can grow, excel, and pursue their ambitions, it has worked tirelessly to demoralize and suppress Eritrean youth. Aspiring athletes have seen their dreams crushed, not because of a lack of talent or determination, but because of systemic repression. Many young Eritreans are forced to spend their most productive years not in training grounds or classrooms, but in trenches, military camps, or prisons, as part of a broader system that prioritizes control over development. The regime does not cultivate talent—it exploits it. Those Eritreans who have managed to achieve recognition, whether from within the country under extremely difficult conditions or from the diaspora, have often succeeded despite the system, not because of it. Athletes like Biniam Girmay, for example, have had to navigate and overcome a deeply unconducive environment to reach the international stage. Yet, once they achieve success, the same system that failed to support them attempts to claim their accomplishments for its own image. As for members of the diaspora who choose to join the national team, it is undoubtedly their right to do so. However, the very concept of individual rights—especially the freedom to choose—is not something that is meaningfully recognized or practiced within Eritrea itself. While participation in the national team may be framed as patriotism, it is also important to acknowledge that, for many, this is not their first or only choice. In some cases, joining the national team may serve as a strategic move to enhance their careers, gain visibility, or build their professional profiles. Ultimately, the situation reflects a broader contradiction: a state that publicly celebrates national pride and athletic success, while systematically dismantling the very foundations needed for youth development, freedom, and genuine achievement. #BlueRevolution #TransnationalRepression #NoMorePFDJTerrorism #Eritrea

Eritrean national football team's squad for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers relies heavily on diaspora players who live outside Eritrea and hold second or dual citizenship. Home-based players often defect and seek political asylum abroad during away matches—a pattern linked to the country's indefinite national/military service policies, with over 60 defections since 2009. Diaspora players are now being actively called up as a “fix” for the team. Nearly the entire home-based national team had previously fled, forcing the federation to turn to foreign-based players. Only a small number of local (home-based) players are selected. Eritrea is playing today Eswatini in Morocco today. G00D LUCK. The full roster below not confirmed

Repression in Eritrea does not stop at its borders. It extends outward into diaspora communities across Europe, North America, and beyond. This phenomenon, increasingly recognised globally as transnational repression, involves intimidation, surveillance, coercion, and pressure against individuals who express dissent abroad. Reports and country assessments, including those referenced by the U.S. Department of State, have highlighted patterns where individuals face threats, harassment, and coercive tactics beyond Eritrea’s territory. This is not accidental. It is a strategy. By extending control into diaspora communities, the system attempts to: •Silence critics •Discourage activism •Maintain political influence beyond borders But this raises a critical issue for democratic countries: Can foreign-linked intimidation be allowed to operate within societies built on freedom of speech and rule of law? For Eritreans in exile, the struggle does not end at escape. Many continue to face pressure simply for speaking about justice. This transforms exile into a different form of confinement not physical, but psychological and political. Democracies must recognise this pattern for what it is:Not diplomacy. Not community engagement. But a direct challenge to civil liberties. #BlueRevolution #TransnationalRepression #NoMorePFDJTerror #RegimeChangeInEritrea #FreedomOfExpression #HumanRights #DiasporaRights @StateDept @FBI @UNHumanRights @amnesty @hrw @RSF_inter @AlJazeera @AJEnglish @ALJADEEDNEWS @BBCWorld @CNN @FoxNews @PolitlcsUK

The most visible consequence o our country f Eritrea’s political system is not found in official statements it is found in the lives of its people. Every year, thousands of our youth leave their country, not out of choice, but out of necessity. They cross deserts, face traffickers, and risk the Mediterranean Sea. This is not simply migration It is a symptom of systemic failure. A nation that cannot provide: •Educational freedom •Economic opportunity •Political participation will inevitably lose its most valuable resource its people. The rise of trafficking networks and smuggling routes is not the root cause it is the result of desperation created by closed political and social systems. Meanwhile, those who once fought for independence, and those who seek reform today, often face imprisonment, silence, or exclusion. This creates a painful contradiction. A country born from sacrifice, yet unable to deliver freedom to its next generation. No nation can develop when its youth are forced to choose between indefinite control and dangerous escape. The future of our country Eritrea depends not on maintaining contro but on restoring dignity, accountability, and opportunity. #BlueRevolution #TransnationalRepression #NoMorePFDJTerror #JusticeForEritrea #RefugeeRights #StopNationalServiceSlavery @UNHCR @Refugees @UNHumanRights @amnesty @hrw @UNOCHA @AlJazeera @BBCWorld @BBCAfrica @TiborPNagyJr @martinplaut @ElsaChyrum @AbrahamTesfai10 @asmarino80

Eritrea today represents one of the most enduring cases of institutionalised repression in the modern world. For decades, governance has operated without a constitution in practice, without independent courts, without a free press, and without political pluralism. This is not merely a political failure it is a structural system designed to suppress accountability. Multiple international reports, including findings presented at the United Nations Human Rights Council, have documented patterns that point to widespread and systematic abuses, including arbitrary detention, indefinite national service, and severe restrictions on freedom of expression. When a state eliminates independent institutions, it removes the very mechanisms that protect citizens. When journalists disappear, truth disappears with them. When courts are silent, justice becomes impossible. This is not governance it is control. The long-term consequence is visible: A generation deprived of education, opportunity, and voice. A society where fear replaces civic participation. A nation where silence is mistaken for stability. The question is no longer whether reform is needed. The question is how long the world will tolerate a system that denies fundamental human dignity. #BlueRevolution #TransnationalRepression #NoMorePFDJTerror #JusticeForEritrea #DemocracyNow #HumanRights #Accountability @UNHumanRights @amnesty @hrw @EU_Commission @StateDept @AlJazeera @BBCWorld @CNN @dw_politics

It is both ironic and revealing to see a former regime supporter now publicly burning the Eritrean flag in a live video. This moment exposes a deeper truth: many who once appeared loyal to the regime were never driven by principle, but by ignorance, pressure, or opportunism. This individual once stood firmly with the regime, openly criticizing and targeting Eritrean justice seekers abroad. He encouraged harassment and even went as far as suggesting that families inside Eritrea should “pay the price” for the actions of those speaking out against oppression. That is not just rhetoric — that is incitement. Today, while his actions may appear to signal a shift, accountability cannot be ignored. Changing sides does not erase past harm. Those who promoted transnational repression, intimidation, and violence against innocent people must be held responsible for their words and actions. The Eritrean Blue Revolution has always been rooted in truth, dignity, and accountability. No movement can succeed without addressing both external oppression and internal wrongdoing. We will continue to stand for justice, but justice must be consistent. There can be no selective accountability. #Eritrea #BlueRevolution #JusticeForEritrea #HumanRights #TransnationalRepression @FBI @StateDept @DHSgov @SecRubio @ICEgov @UNHumanRights @hrw @amnesty @EU_Commission @BBCWorld @AJEnglish

Sweden’s values must be reflected not only in words—but in action. The loss of a Swedish citizen in Iran is heartbreaking 💔 Today, Ahmadreza Djalali faces serious risk, while Dawit Isaak has spent over 24 years imprisoned in Eritrea—without justice, without resolution. Sweden and the European Union must demonstrate that the protection of their citizens is a genuine priority. Engagement must be principled. Progress must be visible. And Dawit Isaak’s freedom must remain a clear and unwavering objective. #BlueRevolution #FreeDawitIsaak #Sweden @bergersus @Sverigesriksdag @SwedishPM @SwedenGeneva @SwedeninEU @SweMFA @SwedenUN @sverigesradio @moderaterna @socialdemokrat @sdriks @Timesoferitrea9 @Centerpartiet @liberalerna @miljopartiet @kdriks @ErmiLiberty @WeldetnsaeG @Mercy4ALL82 @SelemawitKidane @KjetilTronvoll @TiborPNagyJr @Fadawi05 @ElizabethTecle @Edelstam @MagdaEricsson @EvaMariaHall @MariaStenergard @journalistforb

My cousin is among over 3,000 Eritrean refugees currently detained in #Egypt , facing the terrifying risk of deportation. He fled #Eritrea to escape indefinite national service and repression. He sought safety in Ethiopia, but war forced him to flee again. In Sudan, he tried to rebuild his life only to be displaced once more by conflict. Now, despite being registered with @UNHCR he is being treated as if he has no protection. If he is deported back to Eritrea, his life will be in serious danger. This is not just one story it reflects the reality facing thousands of Eritrean refugees who are being pushed back into the very conditions they risked everything to escape. I urge Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, United Nations Human Rights Council, and all organizations committed to human rights: please act before it’s too late. Protection should not stop at registration. Lives depend on it. #RegimeChangeInEritrea #EBRF #BlueRevolution #TransnationalRepression #NoMorePFDJTerror @BereketKahsai1 @BeyeneGerezghe1 @CmaDawit @AsfahawolduK @UN @UN_HRC @BBCBreaking @BBCWorld @AJEnglish @ALJADEEDNEWS @EGerasouli35992 @martinplaut @mrubin1971 @SenTedCruz @TiborPNagyJr
