Dear Secretary-General of Commonwealth Secretariat, @AyorkorBotchwey
Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey Botchwey
RE:Concerns regarding rule of law violations and commonwealth membership-NIGERIA 🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬
I write to you following engagements with several institutions in the United Kingdom and correspondence across Africa, where a recurring concern has been raised regarding the track record of Nigeria in failing to comply with its own court orders, as well as rulings from other jurisdictions.
In this regard, I wish to highlight a number of judicial decisions made in favour of Nnamdi Kanu which, to date, have not been implemented. This raises serious questions about adherence to the rule of law and respect for judicial authority.
Of particular relevance is the recent judgment of the High Court of Kenya, which found that Mr. Kanu’s arrest, detention, and transfer were illegal and unconstitutional.
The ruling strengthened claims that his rights were violated under international law, added credibility to his legal position, and increased political and diplomatic concern surrounding the matter.
Given that Commonwealth legal principles and doctrines apply across member states, including both Kenya and Nigeria, it is deeply concerning that such findings have not translated into accountability or corrective action.
In light of these developments, I respectfully urge the Commonwealth of Nations to critically review Nigeria’s continued membership.
The situation calls for serious consideration, including the possibility of suspension, particularly in advance of the upcoming Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting 2026 scheduled to take place in Antigua and Barbuda, in St. John’s, from 1–4 November 2026.
The issues outlined above point to a broader pattern of actions that are inconsistent with the Commonwealth’s stated values, particularly with respect to the rule of law, human rights, and constitutional governance.
I trust that this matter will receive the urgent attention it deserves.
Yours faithfully,
Pan African Forum Ltd & Associates

Today’s Date: Sunday, April 19, 2026
Dear Mr. Kio Amachree,
Thank you so much for your consistent write-ups exposing what you describe as the contraption called Nigeria. That entity, as you have critically argued, must be confronted and dismantled through multiple angles. This message is to show you my full support. I read your work, and I genuinely appreciate your write-ups.
I write to express my unequivocal support for your continued efforts to expose what you have described as the structural failures and contradictions within Nigeria’s political system. Your work is not only courageous, it is necessary.
Your recent piece, “An Open Letter to the Intelligence Agencies Running Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Your Asset Has Been Burned. Retire Him,” speaks with clarity and urgency about issues many are unwilling or afraid to confront. You have challenged powerful institutions and brought uncomfortable truths into the open, this is the essence of accountability.
Voices like yours matter, especially in times when silence, complicity, or misinformation often dominate public discourse.
Please continue to speak boldly. Your work is being seen, read, and supported.
In Solidarity,
Princess Ag

Amnesty International is deeply concered by credible reports of inhuman treatment and possible attempts at concealment of detention conditions in Imo State Nigeria involving individuals detained at the Tiger Base Police Unit.
The Nigerian authorities to urgently investigate these reports, publicly clarify the circumstances surrounding the handling of detainees during the inspection period, ensure independent human rights monitors have unrestricted access to all detention facilities in Imo State, and guarantee protection for detainees from intimidation.
According to reports from Owerri, detainees were moved from the Tiger Base facility and kept at court premises from approximately 7:00am to 5:30pm on 16 and 17 April 2026, to prevent their exposure during an unscheduled inspection visit.
The Nigeria Police Force has stated that the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), DIG Margaret Ochalla, conducted an unscheduled working visit to the Imo State Police Command on 16 April 2026, during which the Tiger Base detention facility was inspected.
These reports raise grave concerns about attempts to obstruct oversight and conceal the true conditions of detention at Tiger Base.
These actions amount to violations of Nigeria’s Constitution, the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights, and the United Nations Standard Minimum Rules for the Treatment of Prisoners (Nelson Mandela Rules), which prohibit cruel, inhuman, or degrading treatment.
Detention facilities must remain subject to genuine and transparent oversight at all times, and any attempt to conceal conditions or obstruct inspection processes must be fully investigated.
