Candlelight Vigil Held in Colorado for Victims of East Arsi Massacres ============== ( Adebabay Media, Nov. 17/2025 Aurora, Colorado):- The Colorado area Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church (EOTC) Diocese, together with local community leaders, organized a candlelight vigil on Monday in honor of Orthodox Christians killed in the ongoing violence in East Arsi Zone of the Oromia Regional State, Ethiopia. Dozens of community members and clergy gathered in Aurora to pray, light candles, and call for urgent protection of civilians. Aurora city officials attended the event and delivered remarks expressing solidarity with the Ethiopian Orthodox community and calling for peace and accountability. Similar vigils are expected to take place across other dioceses, countries and continents as global concern grows over the continuing attacks. The American Ethiopian Public Affairs Committee (AEPAC) echoes the urgent appeal of Abun Petros, Archbishop of New York, New Jersey, and surrounding areas, who has called upon the U.S. Government to stand with persecuted Orthodox Christians in Ethiopia and uphold justice and human dignity. In his letter to the White House Office of Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships, Archbishop Petros warned that America’s moral leadership on global religious freedom is being tested, as atrocities continue — including the murder of clergy, destruction of churches, and forced displacement of Christian communities.
