Now that I (mostly) left YouTube as a Video Producer and a Viewer I am looking for other platforms where I can watch great videos and support people I like. ONLY FANS began as a platform for MUSICIANS to post videos showing them rehearsing, etc. I thought that was a great idea. I would have loved to see groups like BELLE AND SEBASTIAN @bellesglasgow on such a platform. Unfortunately Porn ruined it, just like it almost ruined TUMBLR before they put an end to it, but it ruined INSTAGRAM, FACEBOOK, etc. Maybe someone needs to create such a platform - but narrow the focus to MUSICIANS (preferably not naked) and Producers who post about MUSIC. My YouTube Horror Story - Demonetization, Suicidal Team Member. I do educational science videos about geography, geology, engineering, and human anatomy for 8 YEARS. Research, writing, vectors in Adobe Illustrator, then animating them in After Effects. Hiring a team of Blender artists for 3D scenes - it takes 150-200 hours to produce a single video. On April 25, out of nowhere, I got hit with "inauthentic content." My appeal got automatically rejected with templated responses, nothing specific to my channel or videos. My channel: youtube.com/c/CuriousReason - see for yourself, how is this inauthentic? HOW? its been 25 DAYS. The most frustrating part was when I reached out to Team YouTube here, and they told me I am specifically mass-producing. I uploaded 12 ORIGINAL, UNIQUE VIDEOS in the last 8 MONTHS - HOW IS THAT MASS PRODUCING? @TeamYouTube Email support agents via Creator Support email are basically not helpful. They acknowledged that it's a false demonetization, but it's "out of their hands," and they wait 90 days. But what do I have to change after 90 days? They don't tell you that. There is nothing to change because its clearly an AI moderation mistake. Aslo We don't have any active ticket cases; the last support agent basically told us: "can't help at all, and it's out of his hands" once again. I emailed them 6 days ago, no response, only generic no, we can't help you replies all over. It's incredibly unproductive, cruel, and inhumane. Because of this false demonetization, one of our team members, the vector artist, who had been struggling with mental health issues and drug issues before, now I can't pay him, he has nothing to work on, and he is suicidal, withdrawals.... thanks @Youtube. I specifically gave this job, (I drew myself before) because he is an incredible artist and I tried to keep him busy so he would not relapse. YouTube is literally putting people's lives at risk. My channel was flagged for “reused content” even though my Shorts are heavily edited and transformative. It still demonitized since May 12. Every video includes my own editing style, pacing, captions, sound design, structure and creative direction. I spend hours working on each Short. My appeal was rejected very quickly, and it feels like there was no meaningful human review of the evidence I provided. As an EU creator, I am exercising my rights under DSA Articles 17 and 20 for proper justification and fair human oversight. I respect YouTube’s policies and only ask for a fair and transparent review of my case. This channel is a major part of my work and income.
