Synchronized #Polio vaccination campaigns across Cameroon🇨🇲 and Niger🇳🇪 this week demonstrate the power of coordinated action to protect 15 million children. While neither country has reported a poliovirus case for over a year, transmission continues in neighbouring countries, placing the Lake Chad Basin and the wider African Region at risk until polio is eradicated everywhere. Together, we can #EndPolio.

UNICEF Regional Director for Asia & the Pacific, @S_Wijesekera, visited Pakistan with the GPEI Polio Oversight Board. He met PM @CMShehbaz & visited frontline services in Sindh, reaffirming UNICEF's commitment to ending polio and strengthening essential services for every child.

Among the most memorable moments of our Polio Oversight Board mission to Pakistan was meeting the remarkable women on the frontlines of the country’s efforts to eradicate polio. Nearly 60% of the 400,000 frontline polio workers mobilized by Pakistan with support from @WHO are women. Their dedication, resilience and courage have been instrumental in the remarkable progress Pakistan has made towards ending polio. It was a privilege to hear their stories and witness their unwavering commitment to protecting every child. As a GPEI Gender Champion, I remain committed to supporting female polio workers and advocating for their safe, meaningful and sustained participation at every level of the programme. Together, we can reach every child and build a #PolioFree future. @GovtofPakistan | @Rotary | @UNICEF | @gavi | @gatesfoundation | @KSRelief_EN | @CDCGlobal | @PakFightsPolio | @nhsrcofficial | @EPIPakistan | @WHO_polio | @UNinPak | @jGuudle

As members of the Polio Oversight Board on mission to Afganistan, we met with members of the diplomatic community to discuss what it will take to eradicate polio and strengthen health for the Afghan people. Our discussions reinforced an important reality: while investments in polio do far more than just stop one disease, more efforts are needed to strengthen routine immunization, disease surveillance, primary health care and the delivery of essential health services, creating healthier, more resilient communities while advancing regional health security. Protecting the gains on polio eradication and advancing on reaching the last mile, however, requires continued engagement and humanitarian support. So, as head of the delegation, I thank our partners for their longstanding commitment and support to the people of Afghanistan. Together, through coordinated action and sustained investment, we can finish the job, protect decades of progress and ensure every child has the opportunity to grow-up healthy. #EndPolioNow | #Partners4Health @KSAmofaEN l @MofaQatar_EN | @qatar_fund | @MBZ_foundation | @mofauae | @swissmfa | @MFA_China | @EUinAfghanistan | @JapaninAFG | @TC_KabilBE | @PakinAfg | @KSAembassyAFG | @KSAMOFA | @kemlu_RI
