OPEN LETTER TO THE PEOPLE OF UKHRUL & KAMJONG;
Dear Friends,
Can this be answered honestly? Have we lost the fight for Nagalim much earlier, when we lost our sanity, humility, and the strength to be honest?
Look at the state of our region and what is happening. For decades, we have been hiding behind fear. Now, we express honest views only as a murmur or in isolation with close relations, because even speaking the truth has become a crime in this Naga world.
If there was no fear, would our village women go to roadblocks, sit there all day for ₹400? A fear of being isolated, a fear of penalty, and a fear of death—that’s what runs through their minds. Without fear, would they go?
We claim to be fighting for a nation. Where is it? Will China come to build the roads? Will Pakistan come to run the hospitals? Will the USA provide electricity? Or will God come and teach in our schools?
Today, what has NSCN given us? They collect tax, they take our money, and they give fear and threats to anyone who speaks with conviction.
Today, a Naga contractor takes a road contract from the Indian government, gets his bill cleared by paying bribes and tax to Naga service personnel and NSCN/GPRN, without completing the road. Honestly, think about it—has this happened in your village? Why are there PMGSY boards with no roads? Why is there no inquiry? Why did NSCN take tax, and for what? To eat away at our progress. Because if there are roads, there is progress, and everyone benefits.
Today, why are there no teachers in schools? A teacher sits at home and, instead of going to school, hires a village boy to take her place, pays him a salary, and plays with the future of common Naga villagers.
Today, when there is a job opening, we are told not to cooperate.
Today, if there is no doctor in the hospital and she runs her private office in Ukhrul to earn money, who faces the problem? Why does no one question her? Where is the freedom-fighting spirit?
Today, when an incident happens, like in Hongbei, we force the truth to be hidden. The police do no investigation, file no FIR, make no arrests. An incident happens on the highway, civilians are killed, and no one questions it. Why? Because of fear.
So who is threatening whom? Nagalim flag bearers are threatening Nagas to keep quiet. Why?
The truth is, a small road patch has grown bigger. Doctors are missing, teachers are missing, police are missing, DCs are missing, MLAs are missing. And what are we doing? We are asked to send our children to war, because war brings easy money to these flag bearers.
Naga villages collected money for youth fighting in Litan. They wanted to give rice and food to the children, but who ate the money?
Naga kids are fighting in Manipur, but NSCN headquarters are in Nagaland, and Nagaland is peaceful. All other communities’ kids are studying and building careers. What are we doing? We are sending our children out by force, out of fear.
Soon there will be no Naga Tangkhul in government jobs. No representation, and all other communities will benefit. Naga Army, Naga GPRN, TNL, and many more will vanish when our families need money.
If these words feel heavy and you feel they are true, then we need to rethink. We really need to ask: are Nagas on the correct path, or will the Nagalim cause destroy our generation, which is now picking up arms as proxies for NSCN? NSCN-IM, which doesn’t support its own people, will not save us.
How long will our villages be without electricity, water, resources, schools, teachers, doctors, and most importantly, peace? Be honest and pure, as befits the soul of a true Naga—not Satan.
Thank you for reading to the end.
Let us save Ukhrul District.
