New research published in @NatureBiotech from PICI researcher K. Christopher Garcia from @StanfordMed and collaborators introduces a new way to better understand how T cells recognize disease. Using a combination of high-throughput screening and AI-based modeling, the team mapped how individual T cell receptors respond to millions of peptides. Their approach helped identify potential disease-linked autoantigens connected to ankylosing spondylitis and acute anterior uveitis and could help accelerate future discoveries in immunotherapy and precision medicine. Midwest Gymnastics announced Wednesday that Jeff Graba has been hired to coach the club's optional and elite athletes, joining his twin brother Jess Graba, who is the owner and elite head coach of Midwest and has coached Suni Lee to the past two Olympic Games. Jeff and Auburn parted ways in April after he coached the Tigers for 16 seasons. (📸 of Jess & Jeff via Midwest Gymnastics)

Protein/enzyme engineering has a severe bottleneck — and it's not in AI modeling or compute time. It's in actually building and testing protein variants. Proud to introduce our latest work, MIDAS: a way to go from primers to protein assays in mammalian cells in one day. 🧵

🚨Prime editing breakthrough (April 29, 2026) Researchers at UMass Chan Medical School have developed “Prime Assembly”: a method to insert large DNA fragments (up to 11 kb) with high precision and without double-strand breaks in the genome. They use two pegRNAs plus linear donor templates that assemble inside the cell. It works in quiescent cells and has already been demonstrated by inserting full genes such as dystrophin and CARs. Prime Assembly (PA) perfectly complements their platform and PASSIGE technology for large insertions, opening the door to more indications (DMD, allogeneic CAR-T, etc.) with lower risk. Another step that reinforces why prime editing remains the most versatile gene-editing technology. Source: nature.com/articles/s4158…

Excited to share our work on ErbB receptors published today @CellCellPress! Using multicolor, photostable UCNPs, we perform long-term (>15 min) single-particle tracking of EGFR, HER2, and HER3, enabling direct visualization of dimerization in live cells. cell.com/cell/fulltext/…

Excited to share our discovery of a new programmable RNA-guided DNA-targeting system hiding inside bacteriophages that predates CRISPR. We call it VIPR (Viral Interference Programmable Repeat), and it uses an entirely new logic to find its targets. Thread + link below.
