Update : Air India : AI-171 Ahmedabad crash. Black box headed to the US for the Federal transport safety authority , NTSB , to carry further investigation (Story- @ari_maj ) The AAIB’s FDR lab inaugurated by the minister of civil minister recently, per this report, is unable to carry through the data retrieval due to substantial impact and damage caused by this violent crash. The NTSB will carry out this investigation along with the AAIB oversight. This is another indicator that India as a growing civil aviation market has lot of catching up to do with evolved markets and technology - hope the lab and investment wasn’t just to tick mark, and there will be further serious advancement. An article by Kevin Bonsor and Nathan Chandler (How Black Boxes Work) put it out in terms of level of sophistication needed. “ For instance, in the Boeing 787, the units can log a whopping 146,000 parameters, resulting in several terabytes of data for every single flight. That incredible load of data is a double-edge sword; it's great for monitoring the aircraft, but it can overwhelm engineers and maintenance personnel. To manage all of that data, they need sophisticated data management software.” AAIB , probably, never expected this catastrophic event , so the AAIB will also learn from this tragic event and up skill and upscale perhaps . (Pics - Economic Times story, what AAIB showed at the time of lab inauguration - the minister and few equipment - guess this crash needed much more) @airindia #blackbox #AviationSafety #aviation #AI171 #airindia @MoCA_GoI

As fate would have it, the 138th Pilot Course will go down in history as the nerve centre of the three-day India-Pakistan air conflict in May 2025. The AOC-in-C of WAC, the AOC-in-C and SASO of SWAC, and the Chief of HQ IDS—all belonged to the same course. Barring the legendary 4th Pilot Course in 1971 War , such a concentration of leadership in a conflict from one course has never occurred before.

A rare moment in #IAFHistory ✈️ With postings on 1 May 2025, No. 138 Pilot Course sets a remarkable milestone — six coursemates are now serving as Air Marshals in @IAF_MCC , including four AOC-in-Cs! 🔹 Ashutosh Dixit – CISC 🔹 Nagesh Kapoor – AOC-in-C, SWAC 🔹 Surat Singh – AOC-in-C, EAC 🔹 Jeetendra Mishra – AOC-in-C, WAC 🔹 Makarand Ranade – DG (I&S) 🔹 Manish Khanna – SASO, SWAC 🧵 There have been 266 Air Marshals (Flying Branch) so far. ➤ 51/52 PC had 10 AMs — the most ever. ➤ Only one other course — 114th — had 6 AMs before this. As for AOC-in-Cs (182 so far): 🏅 51/52 PC produced a record 8 — including CAS Dennis La Fontaine. Other courses with 4 AOC-in-Cs: 59th, 81st, 107th, 108th, 114th, 129th, 132nd, and 137th.

@AnchitGupta9 @IAF_MCC Well put across @AnchitGupta9 military aviation has its shortcomings but country’s leadership is unable to bridge the gap by not providing state of art machines at desired rate to keep it free from obsolescence.

@shukla_tarun @IndiGo6E Indigo should stop this practice of Pilot making PA in full view of passengers. Indians have miles to cover to be called decent & disciplined....that's why I showed my worry when Serene places like Lakshadweep r promoted for tourism.

You know, this is going to be one of the biggest troubles in Indian aviation in future - Violent Passengers. As of now, it's just one incident. But going forward, as Indian aviation grows and passenger numbers increase, such incidents will likely rise rapidly. Passengers should understand that fog and congestion are beyond the control of the airline & staff. On the other hand, airlines should enhance transparency between the crew and passengers, especially when the delay is lengthy and frustrating. Whatever the situation is, hitting the captain is unacceptable. I hope that this guy is placed on the No Fly list. Similar to FAA, @DGCAIndia should also introduce penalties in case of physical assault. faa.gov/newsroom/faa-r…

A passenger punched an Indigo capt in the aircraft as he was making delay announcement. The guy ran up from the last row and punched the new Capt who replaced the previous crew who crossed FDTL. Unbelievable ! @DGCAIndia @MoCA_GoI

So the DGCA, in a cleverly worded draft CAR, has decided to bring down the military veteran pilots to mother earth. They want the veterans who have been flying the most sophisticated machines with most advanced systems, to go to DGCA approved ATO/FTO, 1/n
