The best agentic engineer I know by a long shot is @hTrapVader He was a data scientist at Clubhouse when GPT-4 launched and got so deep into it that, when layoffs hit, he just kept going. He burned through a bunch of his life savings to see how far he could push the tools. That eventually led him to Reid. He's been running Reid's AI work ever since, including building his digital twin — Reid AI. Today he spends more than 12 hours a day using the latest tools to find the edges of what's possible. I sat down with Parth to talk about how he thinks about coding agents, how he pushes these tools to the limits today, and where he thinks this is all heading. Give it a listen and let me know your thoughts, links in thread

. @hTrapVader spent four months burning through his severance on GPT-4 API calls, then cashed out his 401k to keep going. He came out of that running Reid Hoffman's AI work, including building Reid AI from scratch. He's been deep inside coding agents longer than almost anyone. In our latest episode of the podcast, Village Global Vice President @sam_kirschner sat down with Parth to talk about how AI tools have evolved, how he coordinates a fleet of them daily, and what he thinks is coming next. A few highlights from the episode: "The ceiling now is no longer 'can it build this web app.' It's 'does it start operating more like an organization?'" "I'm managing 45 different agents. I'm the bottleneck. So you remove yourself, you let the agents manage sub-agents — and the ceiling for orchestration goes up." "AI is a power user technology. You have to be a little obsessed to get the most out of it." Full episode link in thread.

Celine Halioua on why the fastest path to a human longevity drug starts with dogs: "We've cured most diseases in mice. But a mouse doesn't really age the way we do. A dog naturally ages over time. A dog naturally develops dementia. They develop Parkinson's. They develop cancer like we do." "Maybe you are willing to run that billion-dollar lifespan extension study if the probability of success is 40% instead of 9%." "For a dog drug it's like 50 million all in from idea to approval. It is much more reasonable to fund the entire life cycle into commercialization." @celinehalioua, CEO of @loyalfordogs on the Village Global Podcast.

We were an early investor in @celinehalioua's first round at @loyalfordogs — when it was just her, an idea, and a "poorly designed slide deck" (her words). Six years later: $250M+ raised, FDA efficacy and safety milestones cleared, and the largest clinical trial in animal health history. I sat down with Celine to talk about the whole journey — how she raised a quarter billion dollars pre-revenue, why dogs are the fastest path to a human longevity drug, and what the future of Loyal looks like as the drugs get closer to hitting the market. Congrats to Celine and the Loyal team on the $100M Series C!

what a list! i'm always looking to partner with technical folks who have a strong point of view on tools that need to exist, care about product/devex, and think big. and one thing i love about @villageglobal is that we can back people in the earliest stages. so, if you're technical and there's a problem that you just cant stop thinking about... reach out and tell me all about it.

The latest on Outlier's Path - Our Sequoia -- This is Our Sequoia. It has always been Our Sequoia. It was never Don’s Sequoia, nor Michael’s, Doug’s, Jim’s, or Roelof’s. From the very beginning—when Don chose to build a partnership and name it after the longest-living tree on Earth—Sequoia was meant to endure not through individuals, but through us—the collective strength, integrity, and vision of the partnership. And just as it was not theirs alone, it will not be Pat and Alfred’s Sequoia. It will always be Our Sequoia. We are responsible for something enduring—privileged to stand on the foundation built by those who came before us, and responsible for making it stronger for those who will come after. Together, we have the opportunity to do our life’s work, to make a dent in the universe, to leave our fingerprints on the partnership, and to shape Sequoia into the place we want it to be for the future. Principles guide us—anchored in purpose and mission. Beyond that, we want to trust and empower one another. Our purpose and mission remain to help the daring build legendary companies. Our guiding principles are: * Founders > LPs > Sequoia > Team > Self * We’re only as good as our next investment * Always do the right thing—and do it the right way * When we fall short (because we are all human), apologize, fix it, and move on * Influence comes from expertise and reason, not from hierarchy or tenure If you see something that needs to change, speak up. Lead the change. Sequoia thrives when every voice, every insight, and every act of courage helps us grow stronger together. Some people have asked if we will continue to make new investments and lead the investment teams. The answer is an unequivocal yes. We will source and lead new investments and will remain co-leads of the Early and Growth teams. Externally, we will all be referred to simply as Partners. Although everyone may know that we are Sequoia’s stewards due to last week’s news cycle, our LinkedIn profiles and external bios will still list us as Partners of Sequoia. This is not just a partnership—it is a living, breathing legacy. It is Our Sequoia. Always has been. Always will be. Pat and Alfred, on behalf of Our Sequoia

Some exciting news! I’m thrilled to announce that I’m now an Investment Partner at @villageglobal, where I’ll continue to lead pre-seed/seed rounds across categories and geographies. These last two years at Village have been a dream come true, and I can’t wait to take on a larger role at our firm. Thank you to @adwane, @bencasnocha, @amritcat, and @reidhoffman for continuing to take a chance on me and all of my colleagues at Village for their support and mentorship. In my time at Village Global, we have backed several incredible new companies such as @P_1_AI, @maisaAI_, @interaction, @MagicPathAI, @1BlossomHealth, and many more still in stealth! We’ve also seen numerous existing portfolio companies become unicorns – e.g. @ApexSpacecraft, @fal, @lifeschemistry, and Peregrine — and it’s been a privilege to learn from the journeys of these extraordinary founders. My title may now be different, but the job remains the same. Back incredible founders. If you’re building a genre-defining company, please drop us a line!
