1️⃣- 4: SEXUAL VIOLENCE & EXECUTIONS* Horrific reports continue to emerge of extrajudicial executions and weaponized sexual violence used against the Amhara people. Survivors are left with deep trauma & almost zero access to the medical or psychological care they desperately need.

Our flag was consecrated by the blood of our forefathers, a legacy that no flame can consume. Watching the Orommumma genocidal government’s soldiers cast it into the fire does not diminish its meaning; it only exposes the deep-seated inferiority complex driving their desperation.

There are moments when a song ceases to be music and becomes something else entirely. In መሬማ, Teddy Afro has given voice to a nation in quiet anguish. Watching her, those tears unguarded, that gaze carrying more than words ever could, you begin to understand. This is not performance. This is recognition. A people dispersed. A burden carried in silence. A dignity that refuses to break. መሬማ does not ask to be heard. It settles within you. And once it does, it does not leave. Let the tears flow, unrestrained, like a quiet volcanic eruption from the depths of a wounded soul… @YilmaYada @Eliasyemariam @Hohe421 @Unity_for_Amhar @AbrarSuleiman

Reclaiming the Narrative: The Path to Amhara Unity The history of the Amhara people is being written in a crucible of existential challenge. For too long, our story has been told by those who seek our erasure, distorting our struggle to serve their own ends. To secure a future where our children live without fear, we must move beyond reactive resistance and embrace a unified philosophy of survival. Our strength lies in the Principle of the Unified Voice. While our culture values diverse thought, the world must see only an unshakeable front. We must prioritize the right to life and the restoration of our dignity above all internal debate. When we speak as a coordinated force, we cease being victims and become architects of our destiny. In this struggle, truth is our most potent strategic shield. We must reject impulsive reactions and adopt a standard of absolute credibility. By centering the human face of our people: the farmer, the mother, the student; we strip away the abstract labels used to justify violence against us. Our advocacy must be rooted in documented reality and translated for the global stage, ensuring our voice for justice reaches every hall of power. We are not defending territory; we are defending the fundamental right of a people to exist in peace. True resilience requires a discipline that refuses public infighting. Every moment spent in digital friction with our own is a gift to our oppressors. We must cultivate strategic silence regarding our internal workings while maintaining thunderous clarity regarding our principles. By refusing the distractions of the day, we focus on building lasting institutions that protect Amhara interests for generations. Our path is not just about surviving an onslaught, but reclaiming our sovereignty. By uniting our narrative and professionalizing our outreach, we ensure the Amhara spirit remains unbowed. We are a people of deep history and deeper resolve; together, we are an unstoppable tide of justice. Unity is our strength. Truth is our weapon. change.org/p/end-arbitrar…

Urgent Concerns on Freedom of Expression in Ethiopia: AEPAC Endorses Letter to Secretary Marco Rubio AEPAC, alongside 16 Ethiopian American diaspora organizations, has endorsed a letter to Secretary of State Marco Rubio regarding urgent concerns about Teddy Afro and freedom of expression in Ethiopia. - Credible reports indicate intimidation, arrests, and suppression targeting both the artist and individuals engaging with his music. -Allegations include harassment at his residence, detention of associates, and arrests of individuals for listening to or sharing his work. These developments signal a concerning deterioration of artistic freedom and civic space. AEPAC and partner organizations respectfully urge the United States to monitor the situation, engage Ethiopian authorities, and reaffirm its commitment to fundamental freedoms. Your signature is a vital shield for those facing state-sanctioned erasure. The crisis in Ethiopia has reached a lethal new stage. Amhara journalists and politicians like Christian Tadele and Genet Asmamaw are trapped in a system designed to keep them in legal limbo indefinitely, effectively converting pre-trial detention into a life sentence without a conviction. Signing this petition creates the pressure needed to prevent these individuals from disappearing. International bodies like the UN and ICRC rely on public outcry to justify intervention. Every signature signals that the world is watching Aba Samuel and recognizes the "Red Flag" alerts for genocide. Don’t let silence be the final word for those who risked everything to speak. Sign, share, and stand for humanity. #AmharaGenocideAwarenessMonth change.org/p/end-arbitrar…

“Known, Documented, but Ignored”: Human Rights Watch Issues Stern Criticism Against Ethiopia and the International Community! (April 20, 2026 – Ethio 251 Media) The international human rights watchdog, Human Rights Watch (HRW), has released a new report criticizing the escalating human rights violations in Ethiopia and the "silence" of the international community. In an article published on April 17, 2026, the organization strongly condemned the fact that despite abuses in Ethiopia being documented in detail and publicly reported, they continue to be ignored due to diplomatic interests. In its report, the organization detailed the current threats in the Amhara and Oromia regions. It noted that in the Amhara region, drone strikes launched by government forces during operations against militants are claiming the lives of peaceful civilians. Additionally, it indicated that extrajudicial killings and the destruction of infrastructure continue unabated. In the Oromia region, the report highlighted that civilians are suffering from attacks by both government forces and militants due to the ongoing conflict between the government and the Oromo Liberation Army (OLA). Specifically, "mass arrests" and "collective punishment" against civilians have exacerbated the people's suffering. As Ethiopia prepares for the upcoming national elections in June, the report outlines the intense pressure being placed on the free flow of information and freedom of expression. HRW warned that the increasing imprisonment and exile of journalists, opposition politicians, and human rights activists call into question whether the election will be free and fair. In particular, the organization exposed a significant rise in digital surveillance and data hacking of citizens. Mausi Segun, the organization's Africa Director, stated that violations in Ethiopia are turning into a "normal occurrence." She criticized global leaders, saying, "Even though the destruction in Ethiopia is known and documented in detail, ignoring it for strategic interests is eroding accountability." The report specifically faulted the African Union, the European Union, and the United States government for prioritizing political and diplomatic relations over human rights, which has allowed perpetrators to continue their actions without fear of consequences. Finally, Human Rights Watch called on the international community to move beyond words and take action. It urged that for lasting peace to be achieved in Ethiopia, independent investigations must be conducted into the war crimes and human rights violations committed in various regions to ensure accountability. የፓርላማ አባል አይከሰስም! አማራ ሆነህ ስለ ህዝብህ ካወራህ ግን..... As an Amhara Parliament member you can always cooperate in the cruelest manners to Ethnically target your own people – Amharas! That's almost universally accepted atrocity that the current Ethiopia can easily handle. But the moment you decide you deviate from your alliance of insuring the Amhara suffering – There would follow a heavy price. This too is the norm. You’re a well vetted imposter. we had a whole ass party that works to quell any real agony of Amhara — we call them ANDM. As a parliament member you're always a con man who claims to represent Amhara when in fact your role is to be an instrument to let your own people go through a deserved pain — a justified pain! As part of the current state apparatus you accepted the falsehood of “Neftegna”. Amharas are so vicious, everyone of them should pay price for eternity. you're safe cause you're among the "Kapos". But the moment you say No, any law would be bent to punish your courage. Christian Tadele, who was a sitting Member of the Parliament, has been detained since August 2023 by the order of the PM. His immunity was revoked after his arrest. Not the other way round. A blatant violation of the constitutional legal procedure. He was targeted for criticising the use of force in Amhara region — he actually stated only the facts timidly. Now he is on the verge of death with a worsening health situation. #Ethiopia #AmharaGenocide

Tadios Tantu is an 86-year-old political prisoner who has been jailed since 2021. Now frail & in poor health, his unjustifiable imprisonment is solely due to his outspoken criticism of Abiy Ahmed’s ethno-fascist regime. We call for the immediate release of Tadios Tantu & all political prisoners in Ethiopia. @amnesty @pressfreedom @pen_int @freedomhouse @fidh_en

Week 3 of Amhara Genocide Awareness Month 🧵 1/ There is no single official number — but the reality is clear: 1,000+ Amhara arrests confirmed. Likely thousands more. 2/ During the 2023 state of emergency, Amhara civilians were mass detained, many without charge. 3/ Amhara voices are being silenced: ➡️ Journalists arrested ➡️ Politicians detained ➡️ Civilians targeted 4/ Doctors, businesspeople, religious leaders — Arrests cut across all parts of society. No one is spared. 5/ This is not isolated. It is a pattern of mass and arbitrary detention. 6/ Behind every number is a life — a family — a future. Awareness matters. Documentation matters. Accountability matters. #AmharaGenocide #CarryTheFlame

Abay Zewdu is a prominent Amhara journalist, known for reporting on the suffering of Amhara civilians and speaking critically about those in power. For doing his job, he has been repeatedly jailed—and has now spent years behind bars. Journalism is not a crime. Telling the truth is not a crime. Silencing the Critics: The Dire Status of Christian Tadele and the Systematic Crackdown on Amhara Voices The current status of Member of Parliament Christian Tadele, who remains in a critical health crisis while in pre-trial detention at Kilinto Prison, serves as a flashpoint for the broader, systemic targeting of Amhara political figures and journalists in Ethiopia. Since the declaration of the state of emergency in August 2023, the government has intensified a crackdown that human rights organizations describe as an attempt to stifle dissent and control the narrative surrounding the war in the Amhara region. High-profile figures like Tadele and Yohannes Buayalew face terrorism charges and medical neglect, while numerous journalists have been detained without due process, creating a climate of fear that has effectively silenced independent reporting. This pattern of arbitrary arrests and the revocation of parliamentary immunity reflects a deepening shift toward using the legal system as a political tool to dismantle Amhara representation and silence the voices advocating for the Amhara’s interests. #AmharaGenocideAwarenessMonth freedom-now.org/cases/christia…
