Not commenting on something's you don't know is a wise thing to do. AI Overview Following its initial investigation, the Ethiopian Human Rights Commission (EHRC) was forced to stop its field investigation into the murder of Oromo opposition politician Batte Urgessa in May 2024 . Reports indicate the Oromia regional government and its security forces were responsible for coercing the EHRC into stopping its probe.  Coercion and obstruction by regional authorities The EHRC cited obstruction from Oromia regional authorities as the reason for halting its on-the-ground investigation in the city of Meki. The commission informed the regional president's office that it was "forced to quit" after its investigation team was met with resistance. Witness testimonies implicated security forces. The EHRC's letter revealed that the investigation team had gathered witness testimonies linking government security forces to the assassination. Threats against other rights groups. In its 2025 World Report, Human Rights Watch detailed instances of Ethiopian security and intelligence forces intimidating and threatening other rights groups, including the Ethiopian Human Rights Council (EHRCO).  The Oromia government's response Dismissal of claims. The Oromia regional government released a statement condemning the murder but also dismissed online reports blaming the government. It further threatened anyone who made such claims before an official investigation was concluded. Cover-up narrative. Oromo Liberation Front (OLF) officials have accused the Oromia regional government of attempting to cover up its involvement by promoting a narrative that the murder was the result of a family feud.  Wider context and international reaction Widespread condemnation: The murder of Batte Urgessa in April 2024 drew calls for an independent investigation from numerous international bodies and countries, including the United States and the European Union. Escalating pressure: Reports from Human Rights Watch indicate that the Ethiopian government has continued to suppress independent human rights investigations and restrict the operations of civil society organizations. Lack of accountability: In April 2025, one year after the murder, Addis Standard reported that there had been no accountability for Urgessa's assassination, highlighting a broader pattern of impunity in Ethiopia for extrajudicial killings.  @POTUS @SecRubio @SenateForeign @antoniogutters @TheBlackCaucus @Heritage @elonmusk @USTreasury  @NorwayMFA @eu_eeas @EUparl @CanadianParl @UKParliament @achpr_cadhp @AUC_PAPS @_AfricanUnion @IGADsecretariat @Williamsruto @KagutaMuseveni @PaulKagame @CyrilRamaphosa   @HassanSMohamud @AlsisiOfficial @MbSofKSA @ArabLeague_RBX @Abdirahmanirro @IsmailOguelleh  @EUinEthiopia @R2PCoalition #OLA @RArarssa @milkessam @ittaanaa_haftee @RAbdiAnalyst @martinplaut @KjetilTronvoll @hrw @amnesty @WFP @OromiaMedia @KelloMedia @Roobalee @curateoromia @AP @Reuters @nytimes @washingtonpost @AFP @myosfna

As per the attached Amharic video, Dr Tsegaye Ararsa said among others: “The Oromo people are under siege like that in Tigray.” A few highlights of very important statements made by Dr Tsegaye Ararsa (a Constitutional lawyer, lecturer, former judge, political commentator, human rights activist etc.) with few additions by this writer: The government mobilized neighboring regional States against the Oromo people: In the west - BeniShangul Gumuz in Asosa etc.; In areas bordering Amhara Regional State: Government uses all Amhara Regional State forces (Fanos, militia, Special forces). Uses Afar forces in areas bordering Afar Regional State; Uses Somali Regional State and Federal Republic of Somalia Forces in areas bordering the regional state and Somalia in east and South eastern Oromia Zones.  There are areas under Fano occupation in parts of north, north west and East Shewa Zones of Oromia; Horro Guduru in western Oromia etc. Genocide is declared against the Oromo people by the PP regime. The government in power won't be satisfied by simply defeating the Oromo people like past dictators. It desires total elimination. Similar to what it desired to achieve in Tigray. All regional States are forced to fight against the Oromo people and Oromia except the Amhara Regional State that desires to have most of Oromia including Finfinnee/Addis Ababa as “its own.” The Oromo people's numerical strength should be changed to economic, political etc strength. If 40 million Oromos contribute $1 per day, they can help not only themselves but their neighbors too. Oromo people in the Ethiopian empire are under siege and command posts and communication blackouts. Those in the diaspora should/could do better. All Oromo people should be fully aware of the fact that they are in a death and life struggle. Remember PP’s clearly stated intent which is being implemented: “To eliminate OLA eliminate the Oromo people First” (Ref. Ato Fekadu Tessemae's (top PP official of the PP Oromia Branch) statement to Chaffee Oromia.  As per those with inside info: “ The total population of Ethiopians should not be more than 50 million people (Ref. From Statements made by A/Professor Milkessa Midhaga on various mass media).”   In the past, some officials were quoted as saying “it is possible to reduce the population of Oromos and the size of Oromia Regional State to a minimum.” Who is being forced [even kidnapped] to join the army en masse with little or no training to be used as Cannon Fodders? Who has been in jails in hundreds of thousands [about 150k as Human Rights Watch Report from years ago with many additions since then]?  Who are facing existential threats by Koree Nagenya Gestapo type Secret Killings Squad; Gachana Sirna Defenders of the system; who are being forced to meet all the needs of the militias (no government salary)? Answer: The Oromo people. The Oromo people have never faced existential threats to survive as people/individuals by Afaan Oromo speaking smiling leaders [PM Abiy Ahmed and President Shimalis Abdisa of Oromia] with intent to have them totally eliminated. Any evidence to the contrary if any? The only best option at this juncture: Oromos should support OLA to survive as people/individuals.  Please listen to the Amharic video about the analysis and statements made by Dr Tsegaye Ararsa next:  youtu.be/toEbQ9Jqp-0?si…  @POTUS @SecRubio @SenateForeign @SFRCdems @elonmusk @unGa @unsc @TheBlackCaucus @Heritage @NorwayMFA @EU_Commission @Eurparl @ecb @EBA_News @bundesbank @Canadianparl @UKParliament @AfricanUnion @EUinEthiopia @IGADsecretariat @GovernmentRF @hrw @amnesty @UNHumanRights @Jawar_Mohammed @Milkessam @ittaanaa_haftee @OLF_OLA @RArarssa @RAbdiAnalyst @faisalroble19 @JemalG97422 @TsedaleLemma @Lidetu_Ayalew @Dr_HagosAbrha @GetachewAssefa @mukeshkapila @UAE @ChinaDaily @IMFNews @WFP @AfDB_Group @BBCAfrica @Reuters @AP @AFP @AlJazeraEnglish

It highlights a direct, serious warning directed at the government of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed. youtu.be/BwJDtAKDP2s?si… As per the attached Amharic video, Jaal Marroo Dirribaa gave detailed answers to more than 2 well known journalists on various important issues. Must watch video to know about all controversies against/for the OLF/OLA from Jaal Marroo Dirribaa when he was the Commander In Chief of Western Oromia Zone. Few out of so many vital points from Jaal Marroo Dirribaa’s interview by VOA, Ryot Media and Kush Media Network : The Oromo Liberation Army struggles to have a country in which the Oromo people and all others rights are fully and equally respected. That is the Ethiopia we would like to see if possible. If not, to coexist as good neighbors. We don't consider government leaders including the military as our enemies. They are those who have opposing views. We consider the system built over the last 1.5 centuries as the enemy of not only our people but all others in the Ethiopian empire. We struggle to have the System uprooted for the benefit of all. Without the internet, phones, basic necessities etc our people from Western Oromia to Burayyuu etc are subjected to heinous crimes.  Based on the info we received from some of the government employees, they don't have a clue about what is going on in Welleegga. Because the war was sponsored by others. And our people know who they are! The sponsors are those who would like to complete what Emperor Menelik started more than a century ago. The abductions of about 21 Amhara girls was a drama full of contradictions. Never happened! The burning of Attayee in Wollo was carried out by government forces as our forces were not nearby. It was part of a government evil plan to have OLA hated. The government murdered the Karrayyu Abbagadas and blamed OLA 1st as usual. And finally forced to admit to the crime. The government made several attempts to make us attack non-Oromos in Oromia to have us easily labelled “terrorists”. We have been refusing to do so. We chose to move slowly like a tortoise and not hurt people to win them for our just cause. Had we simply massacred others indiscriminately, we would have either won or defeated long ago. The government uses various groups, such as Gachana Sirna (Defenders of the System), its own Fano, besides some Fano functions from the Amhara Regional State. There are Fanos who fight against the government. There are also Fanos who fight for the government. We are being supported by our people. The government attacks our people more than us. We are in all zones of Oromia well armed and ready to defend the Oromo people with weapons we captured from government troops during various battle fronts.  Going to Makelle is not a crime as we all are in the same country. We can have an alliance with anyone that serves the interest of the Oromo people. We are fighting for all Oromos and not only for those in western Oromia. We repeatedly asked for the investigations of alleged crimes by a neutral body. የጀል ማሮ ወሳኝ ንግግር እና ለአብይ አህመድ አስተዳደር የተሰጠ ማስጠንቀቂያ ።  Meaning in English :  The Amharic phrase translates to "Jaal Marroo's critical speech and the warning given to Abiy Ahmed's administration," referring to a statement by the Oromo Liberation Army commander. @NoWar14387, by any standards of measurement, what makes PP better than the TPLF led EPRDF? PP has been implicated in more than million deaths in Tigray. Based on Abiy Ahmed's admission : "The war that took place in Wellegga was worse than the one in Tigray." That means, the deaths in Wollegga and all zones of Oromia could be at least equal if not more than the ones in Tigray. In types of heinous crimes committed against the Oromo people over the last 8 years, who could deny the fact that Oromos suffered the most : They were beheaded,  slaughtered, skinned, burned and buried alive. Some of their bodies loaded on asses and paraded streets/towns to terrorize the public. Farmers' houses, granaries, crops, forests, and some villages were burned to ashes. The wars in the Ethiopian empire were waged by the PP regime that was supposed to protect all peoples in the Ethiopian empire equally. The war that began against the Oromo people 1st gradually spread to Tigray and 3 years ago to the Amhara Regional State. Irrespective of simply comparing the crimes committed by a previous Ethiopian empire's regime(s) to PP and vice versa, isn't it better to mobilize all peoples in the Ethiopian empire to get rid of the evil system and its ruling elites led by Abiy Ahmed that uses a divide and rule policy and encourages horizontal conflicts? How about encouraging the IC to use targeted economic sanctions to force PM Abiy Ahmed to immediately stop the wars he waged 1St in Oromia under command posts and communication blackouts and 3 years ago in the Amhara RS?  After the deaths of more than million people in Tigray and an unaccounted for of estimated multiplied million deaths in all other regional States including Oromia, isn't it insane to have drum beats of another war against Tigray and potentially with Eritrea and beyond? @POTUS @SecRubio @SenateForeign @SFRCdems @elonmusk @unGa @unsc @TheBlackCaucus @Heritage @NorwayMFA @EU_Commission @Eurparl @Canadianparl @UKParliament @AfricanUnion @EUinEthiopia @IGADsecretariat @GovernmentRF @hrw @amnesty @UNHumanRights @Jawar_Mohammed @Milkessam @ittaanaa_haftee @OLF_OLA @RArarssa @RAbdiAnalyst @faisalroble19 @JemalG97422 @TsedaleLemma @Lidetu_Ayalew @Dr_HagosAbrha @GetachewAssefa @mukeshkapila @UAE @ChinaDaily @IMFNews @WorldBankGroup @WFP @AfDB_Group @BBCAfrica @Reuters @AP @AFP @AlJazeraEnglish
