This is the issue with DOL “violations” and DOJ prosecutions. If there is no painful consequences for these companies they will continue to defraud the American worker and steal from the American taxpayer. These punishments are just a bone thrown to angry Americans hoping we will be satiated or atleast move on. We will not be moving on. These green cards need to be revoked, these companies need to lose all immigration access for the next decade. That is the compromise

@sky_and_sunshin Punishment of violations of the law serve a valuable function of deterring future violations. This is defeated when the punishment is lenient. This is especially true in the context of corporate violators who can afford small fines and weather minimal pauses as cost of doing biz.

I’m a little confused here. Medical graduates spend years in med school, take on massive debt, and go through the Match process competing for a limited number of residency spots. So why does @IndianaUniv have “Notice of Intent to Hire H-1B / E-3 Employee” listings for Medical Residents across IU hospitals? Residency training is already a bottleneck. So what’s the rationale behind sponsoring visas for these positions instead of prioritizing U.S. graduates who are also competing for them? atlas.iu.edu/istart/control…
