We are deeply saddened by the attack at Temple Beth Israel in West Bloomfield, Michigan. Our thoughts and prayers are with the congregation and all those affected by this disturbing act. As members of different faiths and backgrounds, we must stand together against hate and violence in all its forms. Michigan’s strength lies in its diversity, and our communities are strongest when we support and protect one another. No one should ever feel unsafe in their place of worship. We stand in solidarity with our Jewish neighbors and reaffirm our shared commitment to respect, peace, and the protection of every faith community.

PAKPAC is deeply concerned by the Islamophobic and anti-Pakistani American rhetoric being expressed by some members of Congress and individuals in leadership positions.  Remarks suggesting that legal immigration is not "good," that shopping centers in Dallas "feel like Pakistan," and references to the "Islamization of America" mischaracterize both the immigrant experience and the fundamental values upon which the United States was founded. Muslim and Pakistani Americans are proud Americans who contribute significantly to the nation's economic strength, civic life, and national security. Many members of the #PakistaniAmerican community serve as physicians or healthcare professionals, many of whom serve in rural and medically underserved areas across the United States.   PAKPAC remains committed to constructive dialogue and civic engagement. PAKPAC expresses its deep condolences to @Rep_Jackson and the Jackson family on the loss of a human rights icon, Reverend Jesse Jackson (@RevJJackson). A pioneer in the American civil rights movement, Rev. Jackson believed in the importance of democracy ensuring everyone is represented. An advocate of justice, equality, and religious freedom, Reverend Jackson spoke out against Islamophobia and issues affecting underrepresented groups. He believed in the importance of reconciliation.
