CIVILS À DJUGU – AU MOINS 26 MORTS, DONT 6 ENFANTS
Hier, le 11 mars 2026, très tôt le matin, une coalition composée des éléments des FARDC et des miliciens CODECO/URDPC s’est rassemblée dans le camp militaire des FARDC à Roo, situé dans la localité de Lutsiko, groupement Nglee, chefferie des Bahema Badjere, en territoire de Djugu, province de l’Ituri.
Après cette réunion, ces forces ont lancées une attaque violente contre des civils dans le groupement de Dhendro,sumbuso chefferie des Bahema Nord, ainsi que dans le groupement de Jaïba, localité de Jaïmbu, précisément dans les villages de Mbaa et Duunga, chefferie de bahema badjere.
Selon les informations recueillies auprès de la population locale, cette attaque a fait au moins 26 morts bilan provisoire, parmi lesquels 6 enfants et une femme âgée d’environ 80 ans.
Des témoignages indiquent que certains civils ont été fusillés, tandis que d’autres, y compris des enfants, ont été tués à coups de machette. Les habitants affirment également que des miliciens CODECO/URDPC ont été utilisés par FARDC comme boucliers lors de ces violences .
La population locale considère ces actes comme des crimes graves contre les civils et parle d’une situation proche d’un génocide contre certaines communautés de la région.
Selon plusieurs sources locales, cette attaque a été préparée avec l’implication de certaines autorités et de responsables militaires lieutenant général Johnny luboya nkashama gouverneur de l'ituri.
Face à ces violences répétées, nous appelons la communauté internationale, les organisations de défense des droits humains et les forces de l’UPDF à se saisir rapidement de cette situation afin d’enquêter et de protéger les populations civiles de l’Ituri.
Les civils continuent de vivre dans la peur et demandent justice, protection et la fin immédiate des violences dans la région.

CIVILIANS IN DJUGU – AT LEAST 26 DEAD, INCLUDING 6 CHILDREN
Yesterday, March 11, 2026, very early in the morning, a coalition composed of FARDC elements and CODECO/URDPC militiamen gathered in the FARDC military camp in Roo, located in the locality of Lutsiko, Nglee grouping, Bahema Badjere chiefdom, in Djugu territory, province ofIturi.
After this meeting, these forces launched a violent attack against civilians in the group of Dhendro, sumbuso chiefdom of Bahema North, as well as in the group of Jaïba, locality of Jaïmbu, precisely in the villages of Mbaa and Duunga, chiefdom of Bahema Badjere.
According to information collected from the local population, this attack left at least 26 people dead, including 6 children and a woman aged around 80.
Testimonies indicate that some civilians were shot, while others, including children, were killed with machetes. Residents also claim that CODECO/URDPC militiamen were used by FARDC as shields during this violence.
The local population considers these acts as serious crimes against civilians and speaks of a situation close to genocide against certain communities in the region.
According to several local sources, this attack was prepared with the involvement of certain authorities and military officials Lieutenant General Johnny Luboya Nkashama Governor of Ituri.
Faced with this repeated violence, we call on the international community, human rights organizations and the UPDF forces to quickly address this situation in order to investigate and protect the civilian populations of Ituri.
Civilians continue to live in fear and demand justice, protection and an immediate end to violence in the region.
