At the event Commemorating #FortyThreeYearsofUNCLOS H.E. Judge Roman Kolodkin (Judge, @ITLOS_TIDM ), provided a critical overview of different aspects of UNCLOS and its evolutionary development, including but not limited to arbitration, special chambers on seabed disputes, continental shelf, underwater submarine cables, deep seabed mining and the latest regulations, the recent Advisory Opinion on climate change, marine pollution. Commemorating #FortyThreeYearsofUNCLOS, RRU’s School of Integrated Coastal & Maritime Security Studies convened a global dialogue under the wider vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister's 'MAHSAGAR - Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across Regions' on Partnerships Connecting Youth for Sustainable Oceans. A shared legal compass, a shared future, and a shared commitment to global commons for continued peace and prosperity. The dialogue marked the presence of H.E. Judge Roman Kolodkin @ITLOS_TIDM and Prof. Valentin Schatz, Leuphana University. Their engagement enriches a juristic conversation that connects UNCLOS, BBNJ momentum, and evolving climate jurisprudence with inclusive partnerships for sustainable oceans. Prof. (Dr.) Bimal N. Patel, Member, UNILC and VC, RRU, addressed a vital theme: “Land-Locked Countries Perspective on the Sustainable Partnership for the Future of Ocean Governance.” The ocean governance advances when every geography is meaningfully connected. Prof. Patel highlighted that the Awaza Programme of Action 2024–2034 offers a forward-looking pathway for LLDCs, linking transit rights, digital trade, climate resilience and the right to development. A visionary shift from ‘land-locked to land-linked,’ through corridors, rules, technologies, trust and joint stewardship. A concerted approach strengthening the integrity and inclusiveness amongst all upholding international rule based global order. With participation from 40+ countries, including LLDC members, the seminar reflected the true spirit of multilateralism in the ocean governance where coastal, island, archipelagic and landlocked States shape a common legal and development horizon together. National Coastal Security Conclave | Samundrarakshan 2.0 | India’s first civil–military–academia discourse on coastal and maritime security, law & governance. DG CISF Inaugurates Mahasagar Simulator Lab at RRU, Boosting Unified Training for Port Security. Marking a significant step toward advancing unified standards in port security training, DG CISF inaugurated the Mahasagar Simulator Lab at RRU (Rashtriya Raksha University). He emphasized the critical importance of strengthening port security through technological infusion, specialised training and structured interventions. The DG highlighted the crucial role of Recognized Security Organisations (RSOs) and proposed a unified template for port security, along with uniform training, including the 5 day PSA module, to enhance professionalism across maritime security systems.
