@pacmanreckless @StupidMonkey__ @ItsEthanRay Why would they want to sit in a seat that has a camera pointed at it? Maybe some people don’t want to be filmed. They were together so maybe if all 3 can’t sit together, they prefer to stand together so they can converse like a group. It’s not that deep.

They can meet us in the middle at least with 60% remember this is not about people who did 20 years but people that had their careers cut short due to combat injuries. A regular 20-year retiree may be healthy enough to start a second career, build civilian income, earn promotions, and continue saving for retirement. A medically retired veteran may leave service broken and unable to take jobs they otherwise could have worked. So saying “they should only get what a 20-year retiree gets” ignores the actual injury-based loss.

Most veterans and VSOs agree that TCAVA bundles many good bills, but it comes at the cost of practically zeroing out benefits for those with sleep apnea and tinnitus and diluting the Major Richard Star Act with a 'lesser of' restriction on medically retired combat veterans. This "lesser of" restriction, if implemented, will be catastrophic for many veterans. That is why the majority of major Veterans' Service Organizations continue to support the clean Major Richard Star Act over the bundled TCASA: 🇺🇸VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars) 🇺🇸DAV (Disabled American Veterans) 🇺🇸PVA (Paralyzed Veterans of America) 🇺🇸WWP (Wounded Warrior Project) 🇺🇸IAVA (Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America) 🇺🇸MOAA (Military Officers Association of America) 🇺🇸ROA (Reserve Organization of America) In light of the recent detailed analysis of Sections 101 and 108 of the bill, we respectfully urge The American Legion to conduct a careful, section-by-section review of these provisions before supporting the legislation in its current form.

@endwarriortax @kniftarqr9y Before I became 100% disabled VA, I was receiving my pension at a rate of 70% of my high three. Medically retired with just under 18 years of service.

@Chrisujwo3 @passmajstaract I am in the same exact boat as you. Literally besides me being in for closer to 18 years. I’m hoping that they meet in the middle at 60%. Apparently they’re going to carry our careers out and like it’s 20 years which may increase our base pay number.

@passmajstaract This 50% CAP is a huge issue for the population of us with >50% combat dod rate. As a 70% DoD rated combat Ch61 retiree with 16years in, I’m appalled by this bullshit! Apparently 20% of my earned in blood rating just doesn’t count anymore.

@ShawnForGeorgia There’s always money to send us to war. Always but when it comes to taking care of us, there’s just no money for some reason. The TCAVA is just another piece of legislation that forces veterans to give up benefits just to receive other benefits.

Proud to join other retired military leaders to talk about the challenges far too many veterans still face. PTSD. Suicide. Homelessness. Access to care. These are not abstract issues. They are life and death, and our country has a responsibility to act like it. Leadership Matters!

@Militarydotcom Senator Blumenthal showed yesterday that there’s $111, billion that’s going to be unaccounted for and unspent. There’s your answer. It’s enough money to fully fund the Major Richard Star Act as well as the rest of the TCAVA.

@RepGusBilirakis how can you champion the Major Richard Star Act and then sit on your hands when the discharge petition is sitting there? TCAVA is not the Star Act. Five signatures. Five signatures is all we need and it said to see that yours isn’t there.

@homeguy8 @SenBlumenthal Read it. It’s cut and dry with overwhelming bipartisan support. I’m one of the 54,000 veterans that it would help. There is nothing additional inside of the legislation. It’s cut and dry.

Once again, Republicans blocked my effort to advance the Major Richard Star Act, even with a clear way to pay for it out of DOD unused funds. The cost of caring for veterans is part of the cost of war. We must keep our promises.

@SenBlumenthal ‘Unused Funds’ Liberals like to call cost reduction success as unused $$ rather than savings. To me savings are $$ that can be accumulated in an interest baring account for a down payment on a home or a tool to payoff a mortgage faster.

@SkylarZander I bet they just signed the discharge petition for the Major Richard Star Act. The TCAVA is being paid for by robbing veterans of benefits that they should receive. This is not the bill us veterans want. Thank you for your concern.

@CoryMillsFL @DavidWarrenVet Do you know that the TCAVA waters down the Richard Star Act for the most vulnerable veterans out there?Instead of getting 70% of our pensions like we received at retirement, we will be capped at 50%. We didn’t ask for our careers to end. Yet we remain locked out of our pensions.

.@CoryMillsFL Before the introduction of the Take Care of America’s Veterans Act, you expressed concerns about whether the standalone #MajorRichardStarAct could clear the Senate. With TCAVA now on the table and H.Res. 1247 only 5 signatures from success, many veterans would appreciate an update. Do you believe the discharge petition remains the best path forward, or do you support TCAVA as the preferred vehicle?

@RepDeluzio "Republicans are trying to cut VA benefits and privatize the VA." As if I needed more reason to skip elections so the GOP continues to win big. I STILL haven't heard how sexually transmitted Herpes Simplex 2 is a 'service-connected disability' with a 60% VA Disability rating.

Make no mistake about it: Republicans are trying to cut VA benefits and privatize the VA. This is exactly why Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA), Disabled American Veterans (DAV), and Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) oppose this bad bill. The GOP better buckle up for a fight… prospect.org/2026/06/18/vet…

@RepDeluzio This is why TCAVA can’t pass. They are forcing us Veterans to make concessions to pay into Veterans programs to fund the bill. Senator Blumenthal found 111 Billion unspent unallocated funds that could pay the original #majorrichardstaract and Republicans just ignored it

.@RepDonBacon @DonJBacon is saying, “trust the Chairman, and if he fails, I can still sign discharge later.” @RepBost That sounds reasonable, but strategically it is weak for veterans. Why it is not good: 1. “Later” is how momentum dies. H.Res. 1247 is already public, active, and close. Waiting gives leadership time to cool pressure, split the coalition, and slow the final signatures. 2. A Chairman promise is not a House vote. Bacon is asking veterans to trade a public signature for a private process. The discharge petition is countable. A promise is not. 3. If the Chairman really supports it, Bacon signing should help, not hurt. A discharge signature does not stop committee action. It adds leverage. If leadership is serious, pressure helps them move faster. 4. The Senate excuse is a trap. Bacon says the Senate may ignore discharge. Fine. But the Senate can also ignore a committee promise. The difference is the discharge petition forces the House to act publicly first. 5. Bacon’s role makes this worse. He is not just any member. His own bio says he is a retired Air Force Brigadier General, has served on HASC since 2017, chaired the Military Quality of Life Panel, and was named chair of the HASC Cyber, Information Technologies, and Innovation Subcommittee. He knows exactly how leverage works in Congress. 6. Major Star Act is not listed on any legislative calendar, has been stalled 6 years and there is no public confirmation @RepBost is passing it. Don Bacon says he can always sign later. Combat injured veterans have already waited years. Later is not leadership. Later is the delay. Sign H.Res. 1247 now. 54,000 combat injured veterans have waited long enough. Bacon signed a discharge petition for Ukraine. Now he wants wounded American veterans to trust a chairman promise and wait. Sign H.Res. 1247 now. @MarkAmodeiNV2 @RepArrington @RepDonBacon @DonJBacon @RepAndyBarr @RepAndyBiggsAZ @VernBuchanan @RepBuddyCarter @RepMikeCollins @RepDonaldsPress @DrNealDunnFL2 @RepFeenstra @RepSamGraves @RepHageman @RepAshleyHinson @WesleyHuntTX @repdarrellissa @RepJames @RepDustyJohnson @RepJuliaLetlow @RepLoudermilk @RepLuttrell @RepNancyMace @RepThomasMassie @RepMcCaul @RepBarryMoore @RepTroyNehls @RepNewhouse @RepRalphNorman @RepBurgessOwens @RepJohnRose @RepChipRoy @RepDavid @RepStefanik @RepTiffany @RepWebster @RepRyanZinke @repkevinhern
